nigamabhishek 2 posts since Jul 13, 2010

Hi All,

I am having a Sony Ericcson Bluetooth watch model : MBW100 which has recently started giving problems in display. The display has become very dim now that its difficult to see.
Please suggest where can I get it inspected and repaired in India. Pls provide contact details.
By the way what is the current cost of this watch?
Thanks, Abhishek nigamabhishek@gmail.com

My MBW-150 has exactly the same problem. The display was getting more and more dim. Now I can only read the display in dark rooms. Any hint how to fix this? I am an electronics engineer, so with some hints I might even be able to do something myself? I have one more broken MBW-150 (with another problem) that I could use for spare parts. Thanks!

This means that you watch's battery needs to be replaced. The battery is not available with Sony ericcson itself.I could found only one store providing the battery for this watch-
http://www.thebatterystore.com/ batteryforsonyericssonbluetoothwatchmbw-100andmbw-150.aspx
If ur location is near to US, you can get it at a cheaper price. Hope this will be helpful. Do let me know when u get it replaced.

Thanks, Abhishek

Please let me know!!!

Many thanks!!

I had a MBW-150 Classic and the display gradually went dim
I replaced the bettery but it had no effect from what i have read it's due to the OLED display used that just isn't good enough to last
There is no fix although someone on xda-developers has ordered some replacement displays but is having troubles replacing them
Sorry to give you the bad news but thats why i have now gone over to the liveview

Update is Mostly need of this Phone, Otherwise this will be Children's toy.. SonyEricsson is full responsible to this. Compatipility is Must. Because am using sony ericsson Products Only. I didn't find these posts before buying my MBW-200 bluetooth watch specifically to use with my X10i.
Now I am gutted as I specifically wanted the watch to control the music etc.
Both are white and look really smart together. and I can paint my nails to match. but the watch is useless since the phone does quite nicely as a timepiece if that is all I can use the watch for.
I specifically bought the watch as a Sony Ericsson product as I mistakenly believed that these at least should work together.
I don't actually care (much) that the X10 is on Android 1.6, I do care that the bluetooth stuff doesn't work.
Really really disappointed.

Susan.

P.S. I realize that Sony Ericsson isn't Sony Sony, but up to now we have been a Sony household. I am thinking about reevaluating that (consumer loyalty can be so very fickle brand loyalty lasts only if one is happy with the latest product purchased).

These watches cost serious money and are not chuck away items.

I believe you have an err in your judgement in the X10 product. The X10 is the first SE Android phone. When you bought it, you should be mentally prepared for some compatibility issues. It is. a prototype for better future phones, but I can guarantee the next generation SE Android phones, will not have as many features and heavy-ended specs as the first.

I've used Sony, though not exclusively, since the mid-70s. How does that count for loyalty? I always re-evaluate my electronics' brands to test other manufacturers, to get the best value for money. So far Samsung is replacing Sony really well.

XperiaMX10,

Look I am not doubting your knowledge, just that your perceived requirements for Sony Ericsson, or any other manufacturer, to meet your demand and expectations are totally unrealistic.
Generated by Jive SBS on 2011-06-06+01:00 5
Would you put a usb device in a machine running MS-DOS 6.22 to be fully functional? I wouldn't.
Android 1.6 came out AFTER your Bluetooth device was launched. In fact by quite a few months. Would you, as a manufacturer, want to support an old product with your new one? Or, do you prefer your customers buy new accessories to match the new device?
Think about it. Consumers want what we want, but in order to make money, manufacturers have to do what they need to. If not, no one will ever change their devices or accessories until the item totally cease functioning. Don't you agree? In that case wouldn't all the manufacturers just go out of business over time? If such is the case, why come the support?
Please think about what I said carefully, it is not personal, it is just logic.
And please, again, stop using those gigantic fonts. It is a show of aggression and provocation, and can be perceived as rudeness and vulgarities.
susan-parker 11 posts since Aug 21, 2010 14. Re: Xperia Mini VS MBW-150 Bluetooth Watch Aug 31, 2010 11:13 AM
Thank you both for your further replies and the pointer to the OpenWatch info. Intersting.
I look forward to the 2.x update and hope that the MBW watches will then work as intended.
My issue here really is that there is not clear info on the SE site about watch compatablility for these products. There is a whole set of pages about what phones are compatable but even for a techno geek babe such as myself it is still confusing and unclear (I design electronics hardware, microcontrolers and instrumentation plus PCB layout plus 3D CAD, and also Hi End minamalist audio). I really do understand how this stuff works, BUT I am a hardware preson with a bit of low level firmware code (C and assembler), not a system or applications programmer.

Generated by Jive SBS on 2011-06-06+01:00 6
All SE has to do is clearly add that (third party?) Android phone support planed for 2.1 or whatever and it would save grief all round.
200 to 300 USD on a watch (more than I paid for my X10 as a phone plan upgrade I would add) is serious personal money and a big hit on my disposable income. For want of a bit more promotional thought SE could keep us informed without getting negative feedback from unhappy users.

Best wishes, Susan.

BTW, having switched off the Bluetooth function I am pleased to say that my MBW-200 is lasting a bit longer than a week on a battery charge.
darkmax1974 1,455 posts since Aug 5, 2010 15. Re: Xperia Mini VS MBW-150 Bluetooth Watch Aug 31, 2010 3:32 PM
I put it simply to you this way, I bought the MW600 stereo headset, just because it is the recommended BT to go with X10 (it is on the product microsite).
However, upon testing on the first day, I realize there is call number display, but not caller's name like in the phonebook. I thought that's fine. Then the really annoying thing is, the music name will not show at all on the display.
Generated by Jive SBS on 2011-06-06+01:00 7
Guess what? "X10 cannot fully utilize the function of MW600". Nice. Couldn't it have been in the promo? Couldn't SE not recommend it? I am currently back on my HBH-IS800, because it has no display and no control. So, no problem.
What I am trying to say is, ALL marketers will tell you the pros of the product. They may not reveal the cons to you unless you ask. That's what I'll do.

Whilst I understand about Caveat Emptor for buying stuff second hand on eBay and at model engineering rummage sales one expects better of main stream companies like Sony.
I was brought up to be legal, honest, decent & truthful at school.
Trying to deal with the real world, even after half a centuary, still gets me nearly every time
Anyway, I will be patient and wait for the next update to 2.x, then start kvetching if it still doesn't work.
Of course we could always go and buy Apple products. BW, Susan.

How does this make Apple expensive?

Perception, my dear. Perception. I always perceive Apple products to be valued at less than half their asking price.
I would never pay a 200% premium.
That watch you have is well worth the price.

The only (other) problem is that now I need to buy myself a nice white leather handbag to match the watch (and the phone).
And then some white shoes to match the handbag.
. and maybe a new outfit too.
See how expensive a new watch can get
Added later the same evening by: susan-parker Okay, nice handbag found. now to look for shoes :) S.

I am resigned to waiting until "as and when" for the update. To be honest apart from the watch interface my X10 does everything I want from a phone and I can use Google Star thingy when I see something shiny up in the heavens (not often as I live in London, but it does happen).
So for me anyway I would rather hang on for a bit longer and not have any problems with the upgrade when it is rolled out.
I don't use the Time or Media scapes, I am an old fogey and like to keep things seperate otherwise I get confused

Just think of Mediascape as the place you look for music, photo and video. I am still trying to figure out why they call a list of chronologically correct message "timescape".

Yes, however I don't want it being all jumbled together.
I use seperate apps to play music (because I want to play specific albums in track order amoungst other minor details) and to look at pictures which I have grouped in seperate
Generated by Jive SBS on 2011-06-06+01:00 16
folders. If I am showing someone my audio stuff I don't want it all mixed in with holiday snaps, or whatever!
I also have some high res lossless audio tracks for testing purposes, and might not want to suddenly start listening to max volume sine wave tones or white noise. BTW the audio out on the X10 is pretty good for a portable device.
And having tweets, emails and texts all jumbled together does my head in. Again I want to have these things seperate.
Anyway, thank you for the comment. I am sure the 'scapes work for some people, but not for me.

Susan, like you, I have a thing for my music. I put each artist into different folders and each album into the sub-directories of the artist's folder. Not only that but I took precious time and trumendous effort in locating and filling up 100% of all of my mp3s' ID3tags with 100% accurate information. I know I'm just an obsessive person..

I just wished they had a Walkman player in the X10. That would make my day. I was so disappoited with that native lackluster of a media player. BTW I do not watch movies or streaming videos on the phone. Never had enough time to do that.
However that said, the sound quality of the phone using BT is great, as with the output of the plugin jack.
I had initially wished for separate apps for the different media, but had learn to like Mediascape, quite quickly actually. Timescape, I still have to learn.

No that is not correct. Have just tried to update software on my mobile from 1.6 to 2.1 but mobile is saying that my 1.6 firmware is the latest software. But I have been and will continue to be patient.

Well I updated my phone around 21:00 yesterday and at first the phone ws laggy as ****, but after a while everything runs smothly. Angry birds works and **** thats a fun game
I will try to root my phone again since we still can't uninstall apps we don't want or need. I have zero use for Moxier so for me it's only taking up space. Why couldn't SE install an app that lets us uninstall pre-insatalled apps if we don't want them.

The first update batch was for the Nordic countrys, which means if you don't have a phone with Nordic OS you might have problems installing this, tho I know that some on XDA has done it.

Just spoke to Ericsson in South Africa. They say that the the Android 2.1 update will be released anytime between now and December. Apparently it's up to the network providers to release the update. I'm with vodacom and have not received any updates yet.
Stefposts since Oct 31, 2010 67. Re: Countdown Starts "2.1 Android Update" Click The link Nov 1, 2010 11:14 AM

thats a joke with my luck they will make it available on the last day of december, south africa truelly is no where with this, shouldve taken the iphone4

I'm also so disappointed with Ericsson, they took much too long with this update. I think they lost a lot of customers because of this and I really think that someone messed up big time.
What worries me is the fact that they mention all this new features with the update, like five home screens, HD recording, auto focus etc. That's all nice but for me there is one major problem with the phone and that is the in call volume. Nowhere have they mentioned a fix for this problem. I really like this phone, I don't need more home screens and HD recording, just a good business phone like this one, but one with a good enough in call volume. Can you hear Ericsson?, IN CALL VOLUME!!

I doubt any Sony Rep. will respond to you about the MBW 150 Bluetooth connection issue. I, on
the other hand, have been using OPENWATCH (found in the Android Market - Free) which works remarkably well on Android 2.0+ systems. Since I am in the US (AT&T) and did mistakenly acquire the Xperia X10a, I had to buy a Samsung Captivate and install OPENWATCH works really well on the MBW 150. I am VERY disappointed with Sony Ericson like all the rest - I know the OPENWATCH will work for you on your 2.1 update. Consider yourself lucky to at least get AN update from Sony Ericsson to the Older 2.1 version. Good Luck

Ello Bro,

I Knew Open watch can solve this probelm. But bro SE is cheating us. SE didn't consider us. Cos Some one Created the Open Watch for android, isn't? Why Sony Ericsson can't develop this Process with google!!! Cos SE Bought the Product android OS from Google. If they requested from google, sure they'll provide the solution for this bluetooth issues. But 100% they r head weight ppl. So Not Consider the ppl.

But they r developed the New application for Live View Wrist watch. This OLED Colour display functioning with Live View Trade Mark application with Xperia Android Phones.

So they r not consider the old customers. i think they don't know, old customers will be a new customer in the electronics world.
Sure they'll realise oneday. Because "small drop is make Ocean"

Don't Omit any body SE.

Calm down dude! I had that same issue in 1.6, but it is actually working in 2.1. You just need to download this software called open watch. With that i had my MBW-150 back in business

Yes, I did download OpenWatch as soon as I had the 2.1 upgrade (last Wednesday).
I get "Paired but not Connected" and nothing happens. Nada, nix, not a sausage, etc. So OpenWatch does NOT work for me.
AND with OpenWatch running it kills the battery life of the X10, which is already at the marginal end of things anyway.
It may be possible to configure OpenWatch to use less power, but I have neither the time no the energy to spend hours or days of my life fiddling with the settings.
Of course if someone more savvy than I with an aptitude for these things has it sussed, than please let me know.

Meanwhile my MBW200 remains a nice bit of bling. At least with the BlueTooth turned off it lasts the best part of three months on a single charge. Of course it then is only a timepeice, and I have my phone for that anyway.

yes thats true. My opinnion is that iphone4s problem is so big, that they should take them all out from sale! And to that Nokia n8, it has many issues, few biggest are that it doesnt get charged and screen doesnt know when to turn when you are moving your phone to vertical, and that is a major problem. AND it looks rediculous, plastic cheap phone. Im from Finland, so for me to say that from nokia its sad, but true. Iwe used many of these days phones, and the best producs are similar products like X10, HTC and samsung. They all use same android and these phones has fewer problems than etc iphone or nokias. X10

is more nice looking than any samsung or htc, thats why i have x10. Thank you SE from good product!
