PROS: OS, look, Awesomeness ITs great, and the idea is well along with the OS its a Mac downsized. its size is a bit big Bought the 16G WiFi for my wife. She enjoys playing games, surfing the web, reading books, reading email and catching up on her Soaps at ABC.com.

Before you use the USB cable
You can connect your phone to a computer using the USB cable to transfer files to and from a computer. You can also synchronize, transfer files and use your phone as a modem. Before you start using the USB cable, make sure you have: The USB cable provided with your phone. A computer that supports USB connection. Microsoft Windows 2000. Microsoft Windows XP (Pro and Home). Microsoft Windows Vista (all versions).
Only use a USB cable supported by your phone. Do not remove the USB cable from your phone or computer during file transfer as this may corrupt the phone memory or the memory card.
Connecting your phone to a computer
The Sony Ericsson USB cable that comes with the phone can be used to connect a computer to your phone. Depending on what you want to do, you need to choose between three different modes in the phone. Select Phone mode for synchronizing and Media transfer or Mass storage for transferring files. If you use the Sony Ericsson PC Suite together with your phone you can also transfer files in Phone mode. See the table for an overview of the different modes. For transferring files. The phone appears as a media device on your computer. The PC Suite cannot access your phone in this mode. For transferring files. Phone functions are turned off automatically. For printing pictures. To be used when connecting the phone to a printer using a USB cable. This is only available for Cybershot phones.

To connect your phone to a computer using the USB cable
1. 2. 3. 4. Make sure your phone is turned on. Connect the USB cable to your phone and the computer. Phone: Select Phone mode. Computer: Wait for the drivers to be installed (this is done automatically). The first time you connect your phone to the computer, you may need to identify and name the phone. 5. If the Phone Connection wizard appears: Click Next to continue. Enter a name for your phone. Click Finish. If you are having problems to connecting your phone to a computer via the USB cable try to restart your computer and reconnect your phone.

Phone mode

Before using Phone mode you must install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software on your computer. See Installing the Sony Ericsson PC Suite on page 5.

To use Phone mode

1. Computer: Start PC Suite from Start/Programs/Sony Ericsson/PC Suite. 2. Connect the USB cable to the phone and the computer. 3. Phone: From standby select Menu > Settings > the Connectivity tab > USB > USB mode > Phone mode. 4. Computer: When you are notified that the Sony Ericsson PC Suite has found your phone, you can start using the phone mode applications. For usage details, see the Sony Ericsson PC Suite Help section once the software has been installed on your computer.

Synchronizing

You can use the USB cable to synchronize phone contacts, appointments, bookmarks, tasks and notes with a computer program such as Microsoft Outlook. You can also synchronize with an Internet service using SyncML or a Microsoft Exchange Server using Exchange ActiveSync. For more information on Synchronization go to the Getting started section at www.sonyericsson.com/support. Before synchronizing you must install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software on your computer. See Installing the Sony Ericsson PC Suite on page 5.

Media transfer mode

The phone is on in this mode and appears as a media device on your computer. The PC Suite cannot access your phone in this mode.
To use Media transfer mode
1. Connect the USB cable to the phone and the computer. 2. Phone: Select Media transfer and the phone will remain activated during file transfer. 3. Computer: Wait until the phone memory and memory card appear as external disks in Microsoft Windows Explorer. 4. Drag and drop selected files between the phone and the computer. You need Microsoft Windows Media Player version 10 or higher to use this file transfer method.

Mass storage mode

You can drag and drop files between your phone or memory card and a computer in Microsoft Windows Explorer.

To use Mass storage mode

1. Connect the USB cable to the phone and the computer. 2. Phone: From standby select Menu > Settings > the Connectivity tab > USB > USB mode > Mass storage. The phone will shut down in this mode and restart when disconnected from the USB cable. 3. Computer: Wait until the phone memory and memory card appear as external disks in Microsoft Windows Explorer. 4. Computer: Double-click the My computer icon on the computer desktop to check that it is there. 5. Computer: In the My computer window, double-click the icon representing your phone under Devices with removable storage to view the Phone Memory and Memory Stick folders. 6. Copy and paste your file, or drag and drop it into the desired folder on your computer, in your phone memory or on your memory card.
To disconnect the USB cable safely
1. Right-click the removable disk icon in Windows Explorer. 2. Select Eject. 3. Disconnect the USB cable when the following message appears in the phone: Mass storage session ended. It is now safe to remove the USB cable. When you are using Mass storage mode do not disconnect the USB cable while files are being transferred. The files may become corrupted.

Installing the Sony Ericsson PC Suite
The Sony Ericsson PC Suite software is included in the PC Suite on the CD that comes with your phone. You can also download the PC Suite from www.sonyericsson.com/support. Before you install the PC Suite you need to uninstall any applications on your computer previously used to communicate with mobile phones, for example synchronization software.

Installing from the CD

To install the PC Suite from the CD
1. Insert the CD that came with the phone. The CD should start automatically, if not: click Start/Run. and type in D:/start.exe and click OK (D: is the CD drive letter on the system). 2. Select a language. 3. Click Install in the PC Suite section. 4. Click Next to continue the installation. 5. Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next. 6. Click Next to install to the default folder. 7. Click Install to begin the installation. 8. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
Downloading from the Web and installing
To download the latest version of the PC Suite software
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. In your Internet browser, go to www.sonyericsson.com/support. Select a region and country. Select a phone from the list or enter your phone model in the text field. Select Software downloads. Select Sony Ericsson PC Suite X.X.X under PC Suite. Select Download and save the file to your computer.

To install the PC Suite

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Double-click the downloaded PC Suite file. Click Next to continue the installation. Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next. Select Complete as setup type, then click Next. Click Install to begin the installation. Click Finish to exit the wizard.

Installing Media Manager

The system requirements for using Media Manager on your computer are: At least 200 MB free hard disk space. Microsoft Windows XP (SP2 or later). 512 MB RAM. 1 GHz processor. A Microsoft Windows compatible sound card. A CD-ROM drive. A USB 2.0 cable and port. QuickTime 7.0 (available on the CD). Internet connection (for Gracenote CD identification and software activation). Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 (available on the CD). Microsoft Windows Explorer 5.0 or later (available on the CD). Before you install Media Manager you need to install the Sony Ericsson PC Suite software on your computer. See Installing the Sony Ericsson PC Suite on page 5.
Installing from the PC Suite CD
To install Media Manager from the PC Suite CD

To install Media Manager from the downloaded file
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Double-click the downloaded Media Manager file. If needed, follow the instructions to download and install.NET Framework 2.0 from the Internet. In the installation wizard: Click Next to continue the installation. Read and accept the licence agreement, then click Next. Click Next to install to the default folder. Click Install to begin the installation. Click Finish to exit the wizard.
Setting up the USB cable modem
You can use your phone as a modem by using the USB cable and the USB Internet mode in the phone. When connecting the USB cable, select Phone mode in the phone.
To set up the USB Internet mode
1. 2. 3. 4. Make sure your phone is turned on. Connect the USB cable to your phone and the computer. Phone: Select Phone mode. Phone: From standby select Menu > Settings > the Connectivity tab > USB > USB network > USB network type > Phone as a modem. 5. Computer: The new connection appears in your Network connections folder.
The USB Internet mode has now been set up. When USB Internet mode is activated in the phone an NDIS5 Ethernet card is activated in the system. This is deactivated when the USB Internet mode is turned off.

Update service

To use Update service using a USB cable
Go to www.sonyericsson.com/support or click the Sony Ericsson Update service in the PC Suite software if installed on your computer. See Installing the Sony Ericsson PC Suite on page 5. Select a region and country. Follow the instructions on the screen.
