To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose the unit to rain or moisture.
Operating the Radio
Manual Tuning
1 Press RADIO ON to turn on the radio. 2 Press BAND repeatedly to select the 3
desired band. Use TUNING + or to tune in to the desired station.
The FM channel step is set to 0.1MHz and the AM (MW) channel step is set to 10kHz (North and South American model). The FM channel step is set to 0.05MHz* and the AM (MW) channel step is set to 9kHz (Other models). * The FM frequency display is raised or lowered by a step of 0.1 MHz. For example, frequency 88.00 and 88.05 MHz is displayed as 88.0 MHz. The display shows the band and frequency for a few seconds and then changes back to the current time.
Setting the Alarm
Before setting the time for the radio and buzzer alarms, make sure you have set the current time (See Setting the Clock and date).
ALARM OFF
The alarm is turned off automatically after 60 minutes.
Precautions
Operate the unit on the power sources specified in Specifications. The nameplate indicating voltage, etc. is located at the bottom of the unit. To disconnect the power cord (mains lead), pull it out the plug, not by the cord. Do not leave the unit in a location near a heat source such as a radiator or airduct, or in a place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust, mechanical vibration, or shock. Do not place the unit on surfaces (rugs, blankets, etc.) or near materials (curtains, draperies) that block the ventilation holes. Should any liquid or solid object fall into the unit, unplug the unit and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it further. When the casing becomes soiled, clean it with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent solution. Never use abrasive cleaners or chemical solvents, as they may mar the casing. The unit is not disconnected from the AC power source (mains) as long as it is connected to the wall outlet, even if the unit itself has been turned off. Do not connect the antenna lead to an external antenna. If you have any questions, please consult your nearest Sony dealer.

SAFETY CHECK-OUT
After correcting the original service problem, perform the following safety checks before releasing the set to the customer.
Check the area of your repair for unsoldered or poorly-soldered connections. Check the entire board surface for solder splashes and bridges. Check the interboard wiring to ensure that no wires are "pinched" or contact high-wattage resistors. Look for unauthorized replacement parts, particularly transistors, that were installed during a previous repair. Point them out to the customer and recommend their replacement.
Look for parts which, through functioning, show obvious signs of deterioration. Point them out to the customer and recommend their replacement. 5. Check the B+ voltage to see it is at the values specified. 6. Flexible Circuit Board Repairing Keep the temperature of the soldering iron around 270C during repairing. Do not touch the soldering iron on the same conductor of the circuit board (within 3 times). Be careful not to apply force on the conductor when soldering or unsoldering.
