After recording in a location with a sea breeze, wash this unit thoroughly in fresh water with the buckles fastened to remove salt and sand, then wipe with a soft dry cloth. It is recommended that you submerge this unit in fresh water for about 30 minutes. If it is left with salt on it, metal portions may be damaged or rust may form and cause water leakage. If sun oil is on this unit, be sure to wash it off thoroughly using lukewarm water. Wipe the inside of this unit with a soft dry cloth. Do not wash it with water. Be sure to perform the above maintenance each time you use this unit. Do not use any type of solvent such as alcohol, benzine or thinner for cleaning, as this might damage the surface finish of this unit.

Prparation du joint torique et de la garniture paregouttes
1 Retirez le joint torique. 2 Mettez de la graisse sur le joint torique.
Enlevez le sable ou la salet prsente sur le joint torique, dans la rainure du joint ou sur les deux parties du botier touchant le joint torique. Revtez uniformment le joint torique dune fine couche de graisse.
3 Insrez le joint torique dans ce botier. 4 Assurez-vous quil ny a pas de sable ni de salet sur la garniture pare-gouttes.

When storing this unit

Press the control button repeatedly until the icon of the desired mode is displayed. Appuyez plusieurs fois de suite sur la touche de commande jusqu ce que licne du mode souhait apparaisse.
Attach the spacer supplied with this unit to prevent wear of the O-ring. (See illustration ) Prevent dust from collecting on the O-ring. Lightly coat the O-ring with grease and insert it into the seating groove, then store this unit in a cool, well-ventilated location. Do not fasten the buckle. Avoid storing this unit in a cold, very hot or humid place, or together with naphthalene or camphor, as these conditions might damage this unit.

Preparation

Replacing the attachment
Do not use excessive force when replacing the attachment. * If you are using the DSC-TX7, the following steps are not required because the attachment F for the DSC-TX7 is already attached to this unit at purchase. Always use the correct attachment for your camera. Using the wrong attachment may damage the camera or allow water to leak into this unit. 1 Open this unit. (-1) Slide the OPEN button while pressing the unlock button. Release the buckle in the direction of the arrow to open this unit.

2 Replace the attachments.
Take care not to lose the spacer as you will need it to store this unit. Detach the DSC-TX7 front attachment F and rear attachment F (2) Detach at the points marked and lift the attachment by gripping the point marked in the illustration. Use the DSC-TX5 front attachment G and rear attachment G (-2) Press the points marked and then firmly insert the points marked in the illustration. After replacing the attachment, press this unit buttons several times to check their operation. Use the DSC-TX7 front attachment F and rear attachment F again (-2) Press the points marked and then firmly insert the points marked in the illustration.
Use the zoom (See illustration )
Keep pressing the T button for telephoto. (Subject appears closer.) Keep pressing the W button for wide-angle. (Subject appears farther away.) Notes If you do not record any images for a certain time, the camera turns off automatically to prevent the battery pack from running out. To use the camera again, turn on the power again. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the camera. When the camera overheats, it may automatically turn off or recording may malfunction. To use the camera again, leave it in the cool place for a while to cool down. When using a flash with this unit attached, the effective flash range is reduced and images tend to be darker overall, so the shooting distance may be greatly reduced in some environments (pitch dark, etc.). In such conditions, it is recommended that you use an external underwater light as well as the flash. If you use the flash underwater, the flash light may be reflected by particles in the water and appear in the image as circles of light. Reflected glare may occur depending on the shooting condition. If this happens, change the condition. Dust or debris on the glass surface inside this unit may be focused on in the cameras Close fucus enabled mode. In that event, remove the dust or debris on the glass surface. While you are recording movies, audio cannot be recorded correctly.

Prcautions

Prparation de lappareil photo
Lorsque vous utilisez lappareil photo avec ce botier, vous devez rgler le paramtre Logement sur Act sur lappareil photo. Pour le dtail sur le rglage Logement, voir le point 4 ci-dessous. Mettez lappareil photo dans ce botier dans une pice non humide ou dans un lieu similaire. La vitre avant se couvrira de bue si vous ouvrez ou fermez ce botier dans un lieu chaud ou humide. Si vous utilisez le DSC-TX5, veillez bien scher lappareil photo avant de linstaller dans ce botier. Pour le dtail, reportez-vous au mode demploi fourni avec lappareil photo.
1 Dtachez la lanire de lappareil photo. 2 Insrez la batterie et un Memory Stick Duo.
3 Baissez le cache-objectif pour mettre lappareil photo sous tension. 4 Rglez le paramtre Logement sur Act.
Comment spcifier Logement Veillez ne pas toucher lobjectif lorsque vous baissez le cache-objectif. Assurez-vous que Act est bien spcifi pour le paramtre Logement.
La batterie doit tre pleine. Le Memory Stick Duo doit disposer de suffisamment despace pour la prise de vue.

Preparing the O-ring and drip-proof packing
1 Remove the O-ring. 2 Coat the O-ring with grease.
Clean off any sand or dirt on the O-ring, in the seating groove, or on this units body where it touches the O-ring. Coat the O-ring with a light, even layer of grease.

Main Feature

Useable at a depth of up to 40 m (132 feet) underwater. This Marine Pack MPK-THJ (referred to below as this unit) is exclusively for use with the Sony Digital Still Camera (referred to below as camera) DSC-TX7/ TX5. (Not all cameras are available in all countries or regions.) This unit is waterproof so the camera can be used in the rain, snow, at the beach, or underwater. (Underwater) or (Underwater) Using this unit with the camera setting to will enable you to record beautiful underwater images.

Infiltration deau

Si de leau devait pntrer dans ce botier, retirez-le immdiatement de leau. Si lappareil photo devait tre mouill, portez-le immdiatement au revendeur Sony le plus proche. Les frais de rparation seront la charge du client. Mettez lappareil photo dans ce botier dans une pice non humide ou dans un lieu similaire. Mettez le dessiccatif dans ce botier une ou deux heures avant la prise de vue. Rangez le reste du dessiccatif dans son emballage original et fermez bien celui-ci. Le dessiccatif peut tre utilis 200 fois environ si vous le schez convenablement aprs chaque usage.
5 Vrifiez si lobjectif de lappareil photo et lcran LCD sont propres.
Lorsque le paramtre Logement est rgl sur Act , les fonctions de lappareil photo sont limites. Touches externes disponibles : Touche ON/OFF (Alimentation), touche de dclencheur, touche de lecture Fonctions des touches disponibles sur lcran LCD : En mode de prise de vue : MENU, Prise de vue/Visionnage, T, W, Changement de mode, Flash, Macro En mode de visionnage : MENU, Prise de vue/Visionnage, Zoom de lecture, Lecture/Arrt (lors du visionnage dun film), Affichage de limage suivante, Affichage de limage prcdente Lorsque lappareil photo est install dans ce botier, la touche MENU est dsactive.

Remarques Il est conseill de rgler la balance des blancs sous leau sur Auto. Pour le dtail sur ce rglage, reportez-vous au mode demploi fourni avec lappareil photo. Spcifiez le mode de rafale avant de rgler le paramtre Logement sur Act. Lorsque cet appareil photo a t install, seul la touche [Annuler ENR] sur lcran LCD est disponible. Lilluminateur AF ne peut pas tre utilis avec ce botier. Lorsque Act est spcifi pour Logement, lilluminateur AF se rgle automatiquement sur Dsact et ne peut pas tre utilis.

Preparing the camera

When using the camera installed in this unit, you need to set the Housing setting to On on the camera. For details on the Housing setting, see step 4 below. Install the camera in this unit in a room with low-humidity or a similar environment. Opening or closing this unit in hot or humid locations may result in fogging of the front glass. When using the DSC-TX5, be sure to dry the camera fully before installing it in this unit. For details, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the camera.

When using this unit while diving, be sure to pay attention to the surrounding situation. Lack of attention may cause an accident while diving. In case a water leakage is occurred, be sure to pay attention to the surrounding situation and surface following the safety rules for diving. Do not subject the front glass to strong shock, as it may crack. Avoid opening this unit at the beach or on the water. Preparation such as installing the camera and changing the Memory Stick Duo media should be done in a place with low humidity and no salty air. Do not throw this unit into the water. Avoid using this unit in places with strong waves. Avoid using this unit under the following situations: in a very hot or humid place. in water hotter than 40 C (104 F). at temperatures lower than 0 C (32 F). In these situations moisture condensation or water leakage may occur and damage this unit. Use this unit for no longer than 30 minutes at a time in temperatures above 35 C (95 F). Do not leave this unit under direct sunlight in a very hot and humid place for a long period of time. If you cannot avoid leaving this unit under direct sunlight, be sure to cover this unit with a towel or other protection. The camera heats up if it is used inside this unit for a long time. Before removing the camera from this unit, leave this unit in the shade or other cool place for a while to cool down. When the camera overheats, it may automatically turn off or recording may malfunction. To use the camera again, leave it in the cool place for a while to cool down. Use the supplied spacer to keep this unit open if you take it onboard a plane. If it is shut tight, changes in cabin pressure may make it difficult to open. It is recommended that you take this unit onto a plane in the state shown in illustration. A loose or nipped O-ring, sand or dirt on the O-ring may cause water leaks under water. Be sure to check the O-ring before use. For details, read the O-ring Maintenance Manual. If sun oil is on this unit, be sure to wash it off thoroughly using lukewarm water. If this unit is left with sun oil on its body, the surface of this unit may become discolored or damaged (such as cracks on the surface).

Notes It is recommended that you set the underwater white balance to Auto. For details on setting, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the camera. Set the Burst mode before setting the Housing setting to On. After installing this unit, only the [Cancel recording] button on the LCD screen is available. The AF Illuminator cannot be used with this unit. When the Housing setting is set to On, the AF Illuminator is automatically set to Off and cannot be used.
When the camera has been used for a long time, the camera heats up. Turn off the power and leave for a while to cool down before removing the camera from this unit. Be careful not to drop the camera when removing it.

Water leakage

The example illustrated here is of use with the DSC-TX7. Place the desiccant into the front body desiccant space in this unit. Then hold the desiccant at the part on the front attachment. Insert the desiccant all the way to the right as illustrated. (-2) *Place the supplied desiccant in this unit one or two hours before shooting.
Notes Before opening this unit, rinse it with tap water or fresh water and then wipe the water off with a soft cloth. When opening it, be careful not to let any water from your body, hair or wetsuit cuffs drip onto the camera.

Ecartez le pare-soleil LCD et dtachez-le du guide. Remarques Attention de ne pas coincer la dragonne ou la lanire de laccessoire lorsque vous fermez ce botier. Sinon le botier risque de laisser leau sinfiltrer.

If water happens to leak in, stop exposing this unit to water immediately. If the camera gets wet, take it to the nearest Sony dealer immediately. Repair costs must be borne by the customer. Install the camera in this unit in a room with low-humidity or a similar environment. Place the desiccant inside this unit one or two hours before shooting. Store the unused desiccant in its original bag and keep the bag firmly closed. By adequately drying the desiccant, it can be used about 200 times.

Keep the lens cover of the camera lowered. Closing this unit by force while the lens cover is closed may cause a malfunction. Always be sure to turn off the power when installing or removing the camera.
Be sure to test shooting with this unit and check that the images are played back properly before recording or shooting. Before using the camera underwater, first take this unit to a depth of about 1 m (3.3 feet) and check that the camera is operating properly and that this unit is not leaking, then commence your dive. In the unlikely event that a malfunction of this unit causes damage due to water leakage, Sony does not guarantee against damages to the equipment contained in it (camera, battery pack, etc.) and the recorded contents, nor expenses entailed in the photography. When using the DSC-TX5, be sure to dry the camera fully before installing it in this unit.

Check that the camera is placed correctly.
Before recording images underwater, first take this unit to a depth of about 1 m (3.3 feet) and check that it operates properly and that there are no leaks, then commence your dive. Install the camera in this unit before diving, and avoid opening and closing this unit while on board boats or at the seashore as much as possible. When installing the camera, do it in a place that has as low a humidity as possible. Before using this unit, make sure that no debris has been caught between the front and back halves of this units body. Before using this unit, always check the number of recordable images and remaining battery life. (Underwater) for underwater still image We recommend that you use recording, or (Underwater) for underwater movie recording.

This unit uses an O-ring to maintain its water resistance. For details, refer to the separate O-ring Maintenance Manual. Improper handling of the O-ring can result in water leakage.

How to attach (-) 1 Attach the supplied strap of the LCD hood to this unit. 2 Align the LCD hood with the attachment guide and press it firmly as illustrated. How to detach (-)
Spread the LCD hood and detach it from the guide. Notes Be careful not to pinch the hand strap or the accessory strap when you close this unit body. A water leak may develop if they are caught in the body.
