3. Facing the front of the computer, locate the memory expansion cover on the bottom panel. Also locate the single holding screw on the left side of this cover. Remove only this screw with a small Phillips screwdriver. Then remove the cover by lifting up.

PERFORMANCE

The Sony VAIO PCG-505F, PCG-505G and PCG-505GX come standard with 32MB of memory soldered. They can be expanded to a maximum of 96MB by installing the following Viking Components memory options into their two available expansion slots. The Sony VAIO PCG-505FX comes standard with 64MB (32MB soldered + (2) 16MB modules) of memory. It can be expanded to a maximum of 96MB by installing the following Viking Components memory options into its two available expansion slots. The Sony VAIO PCG-505TS and PCG-505TX come standard with 64MB of memory soldered. They can be expanded to a maximum of 128MB by installing the following Viking Components memory options into their two available expansion slots. Description Viking P/N 32MB SDRAM Upgrade Kit* SNY532, RSNY532 64MB SDRAM Upgrade Kit* SNY564, RSNY564 *Memory upgrades must be installed in pairs. Each upgrade kit consists of two memory modules. Requires removal of standard memory modules.
4. Locate the two memory expansion connectors in the open compartment. One connector represents a slot. When upgrading this system, identical memory modules must be installed into each slot. Depending on the module of your system, both expansion slots may be occupied with standard memory modules. In order to expand your system past its current amount of memory, the standard memory modules will need to be removed if memory modules are present. If you need to remove memory modules,please continue to step 5. If your system does not require the removal of memory modules, please proceed to step 6. 5.To remove a memory module,firmly grasp the edges of the module closest to the rear of the system and gently lift it up about an 1/8 of an inch. Rock the module from left to right to disengage its connectors. Then pull the module toward the back of the system and lift it out of the expansion slot. Repeat this procedure for the second module in the kit. 6. To install a memory module, first insert the non-connector edge of the module into an expansion slot so that this edge is between the system board and the outer case of your computer. Then align the connector on the module with the corresponding connector on the system board. Firmly press down directly over the connector on the module until it is completely seated in the slot. Repeat this procedure for the second module in the kit. The modules can only be installed one way in the slot due to the position of the connectors. 7. Replace the memory expansion cover back to its original position. Then replace and secure the single holding screw. 8. Insert the battery back to its original position and turn the system right side up. 9. Replace the AC power supply and any other cables you may have disconnected. 10. Open the display screen and turn the system on. The computer will automatically reconfigure itself to recognize the additional memory. The new memory can be verified during the POST routine at start-up and at the SETUP utility. The installation is now complete.
Caution: Electro Static Discharge (ESD) can damage electronic components. Before touching the memory module, ensure that you are discharged of static electricity by touching a grounded metal object.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Turn the computer off and disconnect the AC power supply and any other cables from the unit. Note: If the unit appears to be powered down, ensure that it is not in Suspend mode. 2.Turn the computer upside-down. Remove the battery from the system. If you are not familiar with this procedure, please refer to your computers Owners Manual.
