Program Guide Service for Mobiles, "G-GUIDE MOBILE Two Models of Sony's "Blu-ray Disc Recorder" to be Released this Winter will Support the "Remote Scheduling Function
Two models of Sonys Blu-ray Disc Recorder scheduled to be released this winter will support the remote scheduling function of the G-GUIDE MOBILE service. This remote scheduling function will support the G-GUIDE MOBILE services for NTT DoCoMo mobiles (service application name G-GUIDE Program Guide Remote Control), provided by Interactive Program Guide Inc. (IPG, based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Keisuke Toji) and D2 Communications, Inc. (D2C, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Akihisa Fujita), and SoftBank mobiles (service application name G-GUIDE Mobile) provided by IPG and Japan Mobile Communications (J-MOBILE, based in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, President: Takahashi Akihisa). G-GUIDE Program Guide Remote Control and G-GUIDE Mobile are applications that provide TV program guide listings for free. The Remote Scheduling Function is a function that allows users to set recordings on their home Blu-ray Disc recorders and DVD recorders from their mobile phones via network communication. By completing a simple initial registration, users can easily set recordings from anywhere outside their home. Since May 2006, this remote scheduling function has been pre-installed in three models of Sony's
"Sugoroku" series of HDD-equipped DVD recorders with a built-in digital Hi-Vision tuner (RDZD97A/D77A/D87), and will be pre-installed in an additional three Sugoroku models
RDZ-97A/D77A/D87 , expected to go on sale on November 1st. Now with the addition of two models of HDD-equipped Blu-ray Disc recorders with a built-in digital Hi-Vision tuner expected to be released in December (BDZ-V9/BDZ-V7), there will be a total of eight models supporting the remote scheduling function. NTT DoCoMo users can access this function from the G-Guide Program Guide Remote Control application on the FOMA S Series, iS Series, and SO and SoftBank users from the G-GUIDE Mobile application on all 3G Softbank models incorporated with G-GUIDE MOBILE. The FOMA S Series, also supports the BS Digital program guide. On October 1st, the total number of registered G-GUIDE MOBILE users reached 9.48 million, with 7.89 million DocoMo users, and 1.59 million au users. D2C, J-MOBILE, and IPG will continue to improve the convenience and services offered by G-GUIDE, starting with the expansion of DVR and mobile models supporting the remote scheduling function.

(D2C, based in Minato-ku, Tokyo, President: Akihisa Fujita) for NTT DoCoMo mobile phones, will have the Remote Scheduling Function installed as a standard function on all models of the NTT DoCoMo FOMA 902Si series to go on sale from May 2006. This function, which has been accessible in download-able format since May 1st for the SO902i model will become available as a standard function in all models of the 902Si series. G-GUIDE Program Guide Remote Control is an application that provides TV program listings for free. Remote Scheduling is a function that allows users to set recordings on home DVD recorders from mobile phones using network communication. By completing a simple, initial registration, users will be able to access this service and set recordings from outside their home. 3 DVD recorders currently support the Remote Scheduling Function: Sony's "Sugo-roku" series of HDD-equipped DVD recorders with a built-in digital Hi-Vision tuner (RDZD97A/D77A/D87). In addition, the number of registered G-GUIDE MOBILE users on May 5th reached the 6 million mark, totaling 6,006,658 users (for i-mode). D2C and IPG will continue to improve the convenience and services offered by G-GUIDE, starting with the expansion of DVR and mobile models supporting the Remote Scheduling Function.
