Media rendered with Sound Forge 8 software includes the project path, so you can easily return to the source Sound Forge project if you want to resume editing. Lets take a look at some of Sound Forge 8 softwares compelling new features: VST plug-in eect support, custom keyboard mapping, ASIO driver support, and application scripting. With these tools, you can work more eciently, improve playback performance, expand the available palette of eects and processes, and export les directly to CD Architect 5.2 software (included with Sound Forge 8 software).
Use your favorite VST plug-ins
The world of eects and processes expands greatly when you use VST plug-ins in Sound Forge 8 software. Install the plug-ins according to the developers instructions. Now, start Sound Forge 8 software. Choose Options | Preferences and click the VST Eects tab. If your VST plug-ins dont appear in the Select VST eects to be available as audio plug-ins list, use one of the Alternate VST search folder Browse buttons to navigate to the folder to which you installed the plug-ins. When youre done, dismiss the Preference dialog box. The plug-ins are now available in the VST folder inside the Plug-in Chooser.
ASIO Driver Support Application Scripting
Use application scripting to streamline repetitive tasks and implement customized features. New application scripting tools include the script editor window and toolbar. As a bonus, Sound Forge 8 ships with scripts of commonly-used tasks. Scripting languages supported are C#, JScript, and VBScript. Additional HD Video Templates Direct File Export to CD Architect Software
There is a new level of integration between Sound Forge 8 and CD Architect. Export les directly from Sound Forge 8 to CD Architect software for fast and ecient Red Book CD creation in CD Architect software. Sound Forge 8 software includes new MPEG-2 templates for writing HDVcompliant les at both 720p and 1080i resolutions, and AVI templates using the CineForm CFHD codec* for 720p and 1080i intermediate renders. Also included are templates for encoding WMV 720p and 1080p.

Export your les directly to CD Architect 5.2
With the included CD Architect 5.2 software, you can now export les directly from Sound Forge 8 into your CD Architect project le. To send the le in the current data window to CD Architect, save the le and choose File | Export to CD Architect. In CD Architect software, the le has been added to the timeline. To export multiple les, open each of them in a separate Sound Forge data window, then choose File | Export All to CD Architect. This places each of the les in the CD Architect Media Pool and from there you can add them to the timeline in whatever order you like.
Utilize your low-latency ASIO drivers Customizable Keyboard Mapping
With Sound Forge 8 software it is easy to create custom key commands for frequently used processes to t your editing style. Import a keyboard mapping scheme, save your layout as a backup, even share your favorite layout with other Sound Forge users. Professional Solutions If your sound card uses ASIO drivers, you can use them to improve playback performance in Sound Forge 8. To do so, choose Options | Preferences and click the Audio tab. Choose the desired ASIO drivers from the Audio device type drop-down list and click the OK button. Now when you play your les, Sound Forge 8 software uses the ASIO drivers to play back the audio.

The Magic of Quantization
ACID Pro 5 software features our new Groove Mapping and Groove Cloning quantization technology. With these tools, you signicantly expand your loop collection by morphing existing loops into fresh, new sounds. Lets take a look at what Groove Mapping and Groove Cloning technology can do for you.

Change the Groove of a Track
Its easy to apply a groove to the tracks in your project. In the Window Docking area, click the Groove Pool tab. From the top section of the Groove Pool, drag the groove you want to use onto the desired track. Notice that a groove event is displayed along the bottom of the track. Increase the track height to see the groove name and zoom in to see a visual representation of the groove in the groove event. Drag a dierent groove onto the track to add multiple grooves or replace the current groove.
MIDI Editing Enhancements
ACID Pro 5 Piano Roll allows you to choose a key or scale, snap-to note values, and easily paint chords, arpeggios, or other custom templates, preventing o-scale notes for more ecient music creation.

Project Metronome

Use the metronome/click track to accurately match recorded tracks to your projects. The metronome is available during both recording and playback.

Customizable Workspace

Map and save commonly used keyboard commands. Dock multiple windows together and create dierent layout congurations for certain editing tasks. New icon and UI color, tint adjustments, and Windows XP theme support allows for complete customization of the ACID interface.

Create Custom Grooves

Modify the track properties of an existing track and create a new groove based on those modications. Right-click the track header for a track and choose Properties from the shortcut menu. In the Track Properties dialog, click the Stretch tab and make adjustments to the various markers. Click the Play Quantized button to hear how your changes aect the rhythm of the le. Click the Play button to hear the le in its original rhythm. When youre happy with the changes youve made, click the Add to Groove Pool button. The new groove now appears in the Groove Pool.
Tempo-Based DirectX Eects
ACID Pro 5 software supports tempo-based DirectX eects that react to changes in your mix, including Flange, Amplitude Modulation, Simple Delay, and Chorus, expanding your musical creativity.

Subtitle Creation and Multiple Audio Tracks
Create subtitles in the DVD Architect workspace, or export text regions from Vegas software and import them as subtitles for a DVD Architect project. Add up to eight audio tracks for multiple-language DVDs, commentary and audio descriptions.
DOLBY DIGITAL AC-3 ENCODER
5.1-Channel AC-3 Encoding
Output surround mixes by encoding 5.1 multichannel or stereo projects with the Dolby Digital AC-3 encoder. DVD Architect software also imports AC-3 les for the creation of multichannel 5.1 DVDs.

Envelope Automation Recording
Record track envelope and keyframe parameters in real-time using a mouse or external control surface hardware with touch and latch record modes and automatic post-record keyframe thinning. Automation parameter control is available for both stereo and 5.1 tracks and buses, as well as for video track envelopes.
Subtitle Creation and Support
Create and edit frame accurate subtitles within the DVD Architect 2 interface by exporting text regions using Vegas software, and importing them into DVD Architect software. Subtitles display on-screen during movies, slideshows, and music compilations. Text les can be translated for use as alternate language subtitles in a project to create DVDs containing multiple languages. Subtitles can also be imported from a text le or third-party subtitling application. DVD Architect 2 software supports up to 32 subtitle tracks for each title (16 tracks for widescreen).

ACID Loop Properties Support
ACID loops, or any audio event that has ACID metadata, will auto-stretch to the existing Vegas project tempo.
5.1 Audio Plug-In Support for the Master Bus Subtitle Time/Text Export to DVD Architect Software
Create named regions in Vegas software, export the list as a text le using the provided script, then import the le into DVD Architect software to auto-generate frame-accurate subtitles. These les can also be used as alternate language subtitles in a DVD Architect project. Vegas 5 software includes three new 5.1 surround audio eects; Track EQ, Dither, and Wave Hammer Surround compressor. Apply these eects or any compatible third-party 5.1 channel audio eect to the master bus for enhanced control over surround mixes.

Network Rendering

Speed up production time by rendering complex multimedia projects over networked computers. Divide Vegas projects into smaller sections that are distributed across multiple machines, and let Vegas software reassemble the pieces into a single rendered le. Each copy of Vegas software comes with two additional render-only service packs.

Import MPEG elementary stream MPEG-2 les. No additional conversion is necessary.
Film-Style 5.1 Surround Panning
The new lm-style surround panning mode supports panning between pairs of adjacent speakers using a constant power model, and is optimized for theater-style speaker placement.

24p DVD Encoding

Import Flash/.SWF les directly into the Vegas timeline to create complex animations. The vector-based.SWF les can be scaled to any project size without loss of resolution. ActionScript, motion video, and audio are not supported.

Fit To Disc Compression
