Battery Pack

Button (Battery) Door (Battery) Button (Battery,3)
Slide the Button (Battery,3) to the UNLOCK side. Slide the Button (Battery) in the direction of the arrow, and remove the Door (Battery).

Remove the Battery Pack.

*There are four detents. Remove the Battery from one side detents (two places).

Remove the 22 screws (The Screws of the Palmrest are not denoted).

Keyboard

Detent

Disengage the three Detents. *Press them lightly, and the keyboard is unlocked. *Detents are located under the Ctrl, Space and End keys. Raise the Keyboard.

Lock lever

Slide the Lock lever upward vertically to unlock the FPC. Remove the FPC vertically. A Series

Screw:Blue-B7,Red-B4

Remove the two Screws.
Pull out the FPC vertically.
Raise the Palmrest lightly, and remove the FFC vertically.
Remove the Pamlrest. *There are three detents. A Series

Bluetooth Equipped Model

Cable (BT Antenna) Kapton tape

Remove the Screw.

Peel off the Kapton tape.

Housing (Bottom)

IFX Board Cable (BT Antenna)
Remove the Cable (BT Antenna) from the Housing (Bottom).
Remove the Bluetooth Module from the IFX Board. *They are connected by the Connector. A Series

IFX-324 Board

IFX Board

Remove the three screws.

Hold the area around the dowel and raise it to remove the IFX Board. *FFC is connected.
Pull the FFC vertically to remove it from the Mother Board.

HDD CNX Board

Connector Portions

Remove the two screws.

Raise the CNX Board portion that is connected to the HDD, and remove the HDD. *The connector is located on the back of the CNX Board.

EMI Spring (HDD)
Remove the screw each on the right and left, and remove the EMI Spring (HDD). Remove the IFX Board from the HDD.
*Be careful not to bend the pins.

HDD Bracket L

Remove the screw each on the right and left.
Remove the Bracket (two places). A Series

Optical Disc Drive

Screw:B5

Main Board
Slide the Optical Disc Drive in the direction of the arrow to remove it. *The Connector is connected to the Main Board.

LCD Section-1

Cable (Wireless LAN)

Kapton Tape
Wireless LAN card Cable (Wireless LAN)
Disconnect the Cable (Wireless LAN) from the Wireless LAN Card. *Disconnect the Connector vertically with the tweezers or the like.
Peel off the Kapton Tape (two places), and remove the Cable.

LCD Section

Cover (Hinge)

Bottom section

Remove the Cover (two places)
*Open the LCD as wide as possible, and hold the bottom section. Flip the large detent on the front side upward, and the Cover is easy to remove.

LCD Section-2

Screw:B9

Disconnect the Harness coming from the LCD.
Remove the two screws on the rear.
Remove the three Screws each on the right and left.
Raise the LCD Section on your both hands to remove it. A Series
*Hold the LCD Section not to tumble it while at work.

Remove the Display Base.

Remove the seven screws.

*It is recommended to disengaging the detents first in the direction of the arrows (left). A Series

Fin(Thermal Module)
Pull out the Fin (Thermal Module) toward you.

Thermal Module

*Pull out the Fin from metallic box of the Thermal Module to remove it. A Series

Unlock the CPU by using a 4 mm flat head screwdriver as shown in the picture.
Raise the CPU upward vertically to remove. *Be careful not to bend the pins. A Series

Harness

Remove the four screws.
Disconnect the Harness vertically.
Pull the Thermal Module toward your and remove it. A Series

Mother Board

Disconnect the Harness and FPC from the Mother Board vertically.
Bracket (RJ11) Cable (RJ11)

Remove the one screw.

Remove the Bracket (RJ11) and Cable (RJ11).

*B13---Use a 4 mm socket wrench.
Raise the Mother Board from right side.
Pull out the Mother Board to the right to remove. *Pay attention to the connector. It is easy to be caught to somewhere. A Series

Remove the two screws. Remove the CNX Board.

Caution Markings for Lithium/Ion Battery - The following or similar texts shall be provided on battery pack of equipment or in both the operating and the service instructions. Do not disassemble, heat above 100C (212F) or incinerate. Dispose of used battery promptly. Keep away from children. CAUTION: Changing the back up battery. Overcharging, short circuiting, reverse charging, multilation or incineration of the cells must be avoided to prevent one or more of the following occurrences; release of toxic materials, release of hydrogen and/or oxygen gas, rise in surface temperature. If a cell has leaked or vented, it should be replaced immediately while avoiding to touch it without any protection.
Service and Inspection Precautions
1. Obey precautionary markings and instructions
Labels and stamps on the cabinet, chassis, and components identify areas requiring special precautions. Be sure to observe these precautions, as well as all precautions listed in the operating manual and other associated documents. screws, components, and wiring have been returned to their original condition. Also check the area around the repair location to ensure that repair work has caused no damage, and confirm safety.
5. When replacing chip components.
Never reuse components. Also remember that the negative side of tantalum capacitors is easily damaged by heat.
2. Use designated parts only
The sets components possess important safety characteristics, such as noncombustibility and the ability to tolerate large voltages. Be sure that replacement parts possess the same safety characteristics as the originals. Also remember that the 0 mark, which appears in circuit diagrams and parts lists, denotes components that have particularly important safety functions; be extra sure to use only the designated components.

5-2. Replacing the CPU

1. Removing the CPU

1 Insert a flat-blade screwdriver into the notch as shown in the illustration and rotate it so that the protrusion comes to the lock release position. 2 Pull the CPU gently upward to lift it out of the CPU socket.

2. Installing the CPU

1 Align the triangle reference mark of the CPU with that of the CPU socket and insert all the pins of the CPU to the corresponding holes of the CPU socket. 2 While pressing the two positions marked by a, insert the flat head (-) screwdriver into the specified position and rotate the screwdriver to the LOCK position.
