From March, 5th to 11th 1972 the 43rd International Show of Agricultural Machinery (1,350 exhibitors who presznted more than 10,000 machines) was held in Paris at the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Park. This paper, the first part of which has been published in {( Machinisme Agricole Tropical )) n o 38 was preceded by another one published i n (( Machinisme Agricole Tropical )) n o 37 under the title B Avant-Premires du 43e S. I. M. A. )) (Preview o n the 43rd S. I. M. A.). As usual the Author intends to bring out the m a i n French and foreign novelties without paying particular attention to the unimportant one nor to those involving nothing new but minor improvements, the number of which is steadily increasing. He prefers to consider the very interest presented by every type o f equipment with special emphasis o n those of possible use overseas. The plan adopted for several is as follows :
- Engines and tractive equipment (engines, generating sets ;two and four wheel-drive tractors ; high clearance tractors ; crawlers and all relevant implements) ; - W a l k i n g tractors, power hoes and mowers, and mini-tractors presented by 248 exhibitors within the 4th Show of Power Equipment for Spare T i m e ; - Cultivation equipments (land clearing and reclamation, tillage, cultivation spreading, sowing and planting) ;

- Matriels de rcolte (fourrages, crales, et cette anne, une place importante rserve a u x Igumes) ; - Matriels de transport et de manutention dans la ferme et d lextrieur (avec beaucoup de propositions pour la mcanisation de IElevage) ; - Il/latriels dintrieur de ferme et de technologie [nombreux schoirs mobiles) ; - Divers : irrigation par aspersion (prsence de nombreux enrouleurs-arroseurs), matriel datelier (prsentation dun atelier type pour une exploitation de 75 h a possdant deux tracteurs).
Comme chaque anne le C. E. E. &f. A. T. a pris une part active la ralisation de cette manifestation, par son stand, la signalisation des matriels exports dans les pays tropicaux, et ses visites guides de techniciens et dlves-ingnieurs. Dans sa conclusion, lA. reprend certaines ides dj mises antrieurement, mais toujours dactualit. I l regrette le manque de nouveautes en matire de mattriels de culture avec traction animale et la diminution d u nombre des constructeurs directement intresss par la satisfaction des problmes spcifiques a loutre-Mer. Pourtant, dans les pays en cause, on constate fort heureusement, quil y a de plus en plus dexpdrimentateurs, cela devrait permettre dorienter a u mieux, sur u n plan technique, les choix faire pour chaque application, sans perdre de vue les aspects agro-conomiques.
- Pest control equipments (to be noted the combination of dusting and spraying equipments, the introduction of granulate spreaders and precisian distributors, and the significant strides of oscillating spray guns) ; - Harvesiing equipments (forage, grain and a great deal taken u p by the vegetables this year); - F a r m and field equipments for transportation and handling (with m a n y suggestions for the mechanization of cattle breeding) ; - F a r m indoor equipment and for the processing of agricultural products ( m a n y mobile driers) ; - Miscellaneous : sprinkler irrigation ( m a n y reel-sprinklers), workshop equipments (exhibition of a workshop of standard design for a 75 ha farm with 2 tractors).

A s every year C. E. E. M. A. T. played a n active part in this exhibition, by the stand they were keeping, the special placards set out in order to call attention on the implements exported to tropical countries and also the guided visits they organized for technicians and undergraduated engineers. I n the conclusion the Author comes again to some ideas already expressed before but anyhow of present interest. H e regrets the lack of novelty as far as animaldrawn equipment for cultivation are concerned, and the diminishing number of manufacturers directly concerned with specifica1 needs of oversea countries. Nevertheless and fortunately it can be established that experimentators are becoming increasingly more numerous in these countries, which oughl to enable to direct at best, from a technical point of view, the choices required for every application, withouf losing sight of the agro-economical aspects.
