Floor plan
For the first time, "RELUX Professional" light planning software also makes it possible to plan motion and occupancy detectors with reliability and precision. RELUX Informatik AG decided to choose sensor specialists STEINEL as their partner for this major development step. Electrical planners now have a software-aided tool for integrating motion detectors in complex lighting applications. Demand-based lighting management using motion and occupancy detectors is gaining importance in modern operational / working areas and offices. To date, the planning tools available for the professional integration of these systems in complex lighting concepts have been far from adequate. As far as motion detectors were concerned, the "assistance" given to electrical planners was limited to just a few physical parameters, such as the reach of the sensor and the angle of coverage. This information does not provide the basis for planning motion detection in the professional sense as we understand it today.
RELUX Professional now includes all STEINEL motion detectors, occupancy detectors and sensor-controlled lights with exact detection characteristics. This means it is possible to display and plan the exact zones for optimum detection of radial and tangential movement in any room situation. As far as the user is concerned, incorporating motion detectors changes nothing to the way the software is handled; in terms of positioning light and motion detectors, the familiar process stays the same. RELUX Professional software can be downloaded free of charge from www.relux.ch. The package includes all details on products from STEINEL as well as 50 other international manufacturers of lighting equipment. Further information on the software-aided planning of motion detector installations is available from STEINEL (info@steinel.de) or RELUX (info@relux.ch).

CO2-AirCheck Air Quality Sensor
Fresh room air Everyone needs air to breathe. Stale air not only makes you tired, it slows down productivity and leads to poorer working performance. Often, windows are not opened as regularly as they should be, particularly when it comes to airing conference rooms, meeting rooms, offices and classrooms. This is because people find it difficult to sense the need to let fresh air in. STEINEL offers the CO2-AirCheck for monitoring and ensuring a constant high quality of room air. It automatically measures and evaluates the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in room air as this gas is produced and exhaled by everyone as part of the metabolic process. It is the ideal indicator for room-air quality.

Tailoring the ventilation of rooms used by people is becoming an important exercise for planners and users. The STEINEL CO2-Aircheck air-quality sensor provides help in 2 available versions. In the "Signal" option, air quality is indicated by traffic-light logic. This is ideal in classrooms, conference rooms etc. The ability to concentrate is significantly improved. The "Control" version goes a step further. With this version, STEINEL is permitting a new standard in automating building services: Invisibly integrated drives open windows fully automatically. Any other ventilation system can also be controlled. Automation and control using sensors is essential for efficient, tailored natural ventilation. The benefits are clear to see: The need for ventilation changes during the course of the day Human beings do not properly sense the need for ventilation Regulating room ventilation as and when needed can create a pleasant room climate and save a large amount of energy.

STEINEL's CO2-AirCheck features infrared optical two-beam gas detectors that work on the absorption principle and measure the concentration of CO2 in room air. The measuring element used is a dual thermopile sensor with a measuring channel and reference channel. As the reference channel compensates for any measurement corruption caused by measurement system soiling, ageing or changes in ambient temperature, the unit continues to work for prolonged periods time without the need for action on the part of the user.
