Quick start guide

Introduction

Your telephone connection, based on the latest technology, provides you with a variety of additional and new functions that are detailed in this manual. Note: This manual only applies to analogue landline telephones that are used in connection with the latest technology. > COMBOX (answering machine). Page 3 > Setting up call diversion. Page 5 > Allowing call waiting i.e. you can receive a second call while you are on the telephone. Page 7 > Setting up a three-way conference. Page 7 > Redialling the last telephone number selected. Page 8 > Automatically displaying the callers name and telephone number, even if this is not stored in your telephone address book. Page 8 > Suppressing your telephone number. There are two ways in which you can switch services and functions on and off or apply settings: > Directly from your telephone by entering certain key combinations. > On the Internet via the customer center. > On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password).

COMBOX (answering machine)
The COMBOX means that your telephone is always ready to receive calls: It takes all the calls you are not able to answer personally.

Ordering the COMBOX

You can order your COMBOX from the customer center.
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Packages and make the corresponding update to the packages to which you have subscribed.
Putting the COMBOX into service
The number of your COMBOX is +x (x is your 10-digit telephone number including dialling code), e.g. +45 67. You must make the following settings before you can listen to messages on your COMBOX.
From your telephone, dial the number of your COMBOX +x (x is your 10-digit telephone number including dialling code), e.g. +45 67. Note: You can also enter 0041 instead of +41 (e.g. 45 67).

Record the announcement

After the greeting, you will be prompted to define an announcement. Press the 1 key when you are ready. Say the desired announcement and press the # key to conclude the announcement. Your announcement will be played back for you to check. Press the 1 key to confirm the announcement.
Setting your password The standard password is read out to you. Press the 1 key to define a new password. Enter a new 4-digit password and press the # key to save the password.
SMS messaging Press the 1 key to Activate SMS messaging. Enter the desired number (landline or mobile) on which you wish to receive the SMS message and then press the # key (e.g. 45 67#). Note: If you enter a number (e.g. landline) that does not support SMS messaging, you will be notified of new messages by an automatic call. The call will be repeated until you accept it. The number you have entered will be read out for you to check. Press the 1 key to confirm the number.
Activating and deactivating the COMBOX
Your COMBOX needs to be activated before it can accept calls. Details on how to activate and deactivate the COMBOX can be found under Setting up call diversion (page 5).

Listening to messages

From your telephone
Dial the number of your COMBOX +x (x is your 10-digit telephone number including dialling code), e.g. +45 67. Note: You can also enter 0041 instead of +41 (e.g. 45 67). Your messages are played back.
From another telephone (mobile or landline) From your telephone, dial the number of your COMBOX +x (x is your 10-digit telephone number including dialling code), e.g. +45 67. Note: You can also enter 0041 instead of +41 (e.g. 45 67). Press the * key during the greeting. Enter your password and press the # key. Note: If you have forgotten your password, you can define a new one (see page 3). Your messages are played back.
Via the Internet, if you have subscribed to COMBOX pro (charges apply) On the Internet, log in on combox.swisscom.com with your COMBOX pro login (COMBOX pro telephone number and Internet password).

Call diversion

Using call diversion you can specify what happens to an incoming call that you cannot take. For example, you can automatically divert all incoming calls to a different telephone number or to your COMBOX.
What call diversions are there?
Normal setting Direct diversion All calls ring on your landline telephone number. You decide what happens if your telephone is engaged or if you cannot take the call within a set period of time. All calls are directly diverted to a certain telephone number (e.g. your mobile) or your COMBOX. You can freely select the telephone number.

Direct call diversion

All calls are diverted directly to the telephone number provided. On your telephone Activate Cancel
*21 + telephone number + # (e.g. *33 11# for diversion to telephone number 33 11)
Note: Cancelling the direct call diversion (#21#) leads to the Normal setting being reactivated. For example, if you had previously set Divert calls if engaged to the COMBOX, this setting will be reactivated. At the customer center
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call diversion. Select Direct diversion to. Click on Manage. Enter the required telephone number. Click on Save profile.
Divert calls if call missed
If you do not pick up a call, it will be diverted to the telephone number provided. On your telephone Activate Cancel At the customer center
*61 + telephone number + # (e.g. *33 11# for diversion to 33 11)
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call diversion. Select Normal setting. Click on Manage. Select if call missed to and enter the desired telephone number. Select Profile active. Click on Save profile.
Call diversion, if engaged
If your telephone is engaged, all calls are diverted to the alternative telephone number specified. On your telephone Activate Cancel At the customer center
*67 + telephone number + # (e.g. *33 11# for diversion to 33 11)
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call diversion. Select Normal setting. Click on Manage. Select if engaged to and enter the desired telephone number. Select Profile active. Click on Save profile.

Call waiting

Call waiting means that you can receive a second call while you are already on the telephone. The incoming call is signalled to you by a beep (so-called call waiting). However, the caller receives no indication that you are already on a call. You can interrupt the ongoing call (so-called holding) and accept the new call. Note: To accept a waiting call, you need a telephone with a flash or control key (R key or key).

Activating and deactivating call waiting

At the customer center

On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call settings. Select Permit call waiting.
Accepting or rejecting the waiting call
On your telephone Accepting the call waiting connection (and putting the existing connection on hold) Switching backwards and forwards between two calls (known as toggling) Rejecting a call waiting Press R or , wait for the dialling tone and press key 2. Press R or and press key 2 to toggle between calls. Press R or , wait for the dialling tone and press key 0.
Note: The call waiting connection will be automatically rejected if you do not accept it after 20 seconds.

Three-way conference

In a three-way conference, all call participants can speak to one another simultaneously. To do this, you create two connections (to two people) and connect them together. Note: To create a three-way conference, you need a telephone with a flash or control key (R key or key). On your telephone Creating a three-way conference Create the connection with the first call participant. Press R or , wait for the dialling tone. Dial the target number of the second call participant, wait for connection. Press R or , wait for the dialling tone, press key 3 to connect all participants with one another.

Redial last number

The redial function enables you to redial the last telephone number dialled. On your telephone Repeat last dialled telephone number
Automatic caller name display
The callers name is displayed even if it is not stored in your telephone address book. This service uses data from the publicly accessible directory service provided by Swisscom Directories (www.directories.ch). Notes > Callers who have suppressed their own telephone number or the display of their name are not displayed. > If people are not listed in the publicly accessible directory service provided by Swisscom Directories, no name is displayed. > Please note that this facility requires you to have a landline telephone that supports caller name display. You can find a list of supported equipment on page 10.
Suppressing your own telephone number and name
If you do not want your name or telephone number displayed to the person whom you are calling, you can suppress them. To the person you are calling you will be displayed as an anonymous caller. On your telephone You can apply this setting for each call directly on your telephone. Your telephone number will be suppressed when you make the next call. Make call with suppressed telephone number

At the customer center In the customer center, you can adjust settings to ensure that your telephone number is always suppressed without having to dial *31 before each call.
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call settings. Select Suppress your own phone number and name display. Click on Save changes.

Call Barring

Outgoing Call Barring
Block calls to unwanted phone numbers (e.g. 0900 numbers) from your line. This is done by selecting a so-called barring set. At the customer center
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call barring > Outgoing calls. Click on Manage. Select the desired barring set. Click on Save changes.

Incoming Call Barring

Specify whether callers with suppressed phone numbers can reach you or are automatically rejected. The callers hear the message The Swisscom customer does not wish to receive calls from callers with suppressed phone numbers. At the customer center
On the Internet, log in on www.swisscom.ch/login using your Swisscom login data (username and password) (see page 2). Click on Telephone settings > Call barring > Incoming Calls. Select On. Click on Save.
Note: For help with any questions, please call Swisscom Customer Service on 800 (Monday to Friday between 8:00 and 17:00).
