I bought this media player a couple of years ago as the price was good and I thought my old one was broken. I had a Sansa before. When my old fav Shiro MP3 player aged last month. I began to search for another QUALITY replacement.

This has been a really reliable and great storage unit. The only gripe I have with it is the access time of the data.

great for good radio reception, although lacking RDS I received my Ipod from my fiance for Christmas 2007 and I also received a docking station with it.

Safety Precautions
Do not disassemble, repair or modify the player by yourself. Refer servicing to qualified personnel only. Keep the player clean and never store it close to heat sources or dirty, humid or rainy places and avoid direct sunlight. If the surface is dirty, please clean it with soft cloth wet with clean water or soft cleaning fluids and never clean the case with alcohol or aggressive diluents. Never use the player in extremely dry environment to avoid static discharging. Never apply heavy impact on the player like dropping it or placing it on a magnet.

Battery

Do not dispose the player in fire to avoid explosion because the player has built-in battery. Do not touch the player with bare hands if the built-in battery is leaking. In this case, contact service center for help since the liquid may remain in the player. If your body or clothes has been contacted with the battery liquid, wash it off thoroughly with water. Also, if some of liquid gets into your eyes, do not rub your eyes but immediately wash them with clean water, and consult a doctor.

Earphone

Never use the player during driving a car or using other vehicles to avoid traffic accidents. This is also content of the law of some countries. Even while walking it may be dangerous especially when crossing the street. Please do not listen in extremely high volume to avoid any dangers. Wherever potential risks may arise, please do not use the player to ensure your safety. Its not recommended that you use the earphones at a high volume for an extended time as this may cause hearing damage. Please insert the earphone prior to turn on the player, which can not only avoid damaging the earphone but keep the player in good condition also. Turn off the player when it is not used. Conneting to a PC

Never disconnect the player from PC during downloading, uploading and formatting to avoid failures and losses of data. When the player is used as removable disk, please follow strictly the given file download and upload procedures. Our company does not resume any responsibility for any data losses due to misuse.

Important

Please charge the battery immediately when the display indicates low battery, or the device will be powered off automatically. In this case, all settings will be saved. Please disconnect the player from PC properly to avoid data loss. Battery service life may be various from different using conditions, manufacturer and manufacturing time. In both power on and power off state, the player may be charged by the connection to PC via the USB line. Ensure to use the provided earphone to enjoy full sound and power.

Before Using

Driver

Windows2000/XP/ME/Vista This player is plug & play for WIN2000/XP/ME/Vista OS. Windows98SE Under Windows98SE drivers have to be installed. Do not connect the unit to your computer before the installation of the driver is finished. Insert the provided CD into your CDROM drive or download the driver from our web site. Double click on SETUP.EXE (USB Disk Win98 Driver Version xxx.exe) and follow the instructions on the screen. Connect the MP-370SD and the PC with the provided USB cable after finishing the installation.
Connect to a PC and Download Audio Files
To connect the player with the PC for transferring files: 1. Plug the larger end of the USB cable to the USB port of the PC, and plug the smaller end to the USB port of the player. Please note that USB hub or USB extended line should not be used.
2. The computer system detects New hardware and starts to in-

stall the driver automatically. Wait for the system to finish the installation.

3. When the

icon appears at the right bottom of the PC screen, double click My Computer on the desktop, you see a removable disk which indicates the player. Just use the removable disk as a regular local disk, copying files from or to it.

Removing the Player From the PC Safely
For Windows2000/XP 1. Left click the icon at the right hand corner of the taskbar. 2. Click the pop-up mini-window with message of Safely Remove the USB Mass Storage Device Drive (X:, Y:). 3. When you are prompted to remove the device, pull out the player. For Windows98 Please make sure the data transfer is completed before unplugging the media player. Special reminder: Do not disconnect the USB cable when data is being transmitted between PC and player, which may damage data or cause data losses in the player. Disconnection should be conducted only when device can now be safely removed from the system is displayed; When the USB is in operation, other button is inactive. If the player fails to power on due to data loss or I/O mistake reminder by mal-operation, please refer to the trouble shooting section for solution.

Charging the Battery
The device has a rechargeable built-in polymer ion battery. It is charged via USB connection. You are required to charge it when you use it for the first time. To charge the battery, connect the larger end of the USB cable to the USB interface of PC, and connect the other smaller end of the USB cable to the USB interface of this player. The device is connected to PC and being charged. You see an animating battery icon indicating charge progress. The battery of the player is 80-percent charged in about two hours and fully charged in about four hours. If you charge the player while loading files to the player, it might take longer. The following icon will replace the charging one when the battery is full but the power supply is not being cut off. Notice: The device is not available during charging.
Recommended temperature for battery charging is 0C to 35C. Fully charge it before you use the player for the first time or when you havent used it for a long time. Charge the player right now when the Low battery ( ) message is displayed. Do not over charge or discharge the player. Over charging or discharging will shorten the battery life. The battery could be over discharged if the player is not used for a long time (over three months). To avoid over discharge, fully charge the player every two or three month and always keep the voltage of the battery above 50%. If the player is not used for a long time, keep it under the temperature of 235C and the moisture of 6520% RH to maintain the performance of the battery.

Power On/Off
To power on: button (2 seconds) until you see prompt Press and hold the / on the display. The MP3 player enters main menu with music option selected by default. To power off: Press and hold the on the display. / button (2 seconds) until you see prompt
If the player is powered off normally (i.e. the user shuts it off or it is shut off according to the setting), following modes will be saved: current mode, music elapse time, user settings. (i.e. volume, EQ, and timing off and play mode etc.). If the player is powered off by pressing reset, the above-mentioned modes will not be saved.

Lock function

In any state, push the lock button HOLD to the direction of the arrow to lock the button and all button operations are deactivated. In music or voice play mode, or listening to FM radio, the screen will display a lock icon. You have to push the HOLD button to the contrary direction of the arrow to unlock the button before any other button will be operative.

Reset function

If the player cant be used normally for some reasons (should not happen in normal operation), please use a small cylindrical plastic stick to reset the player. In this case the player should not be connected to the PC or an adapter.

Using microSD Card Slot
After connecting the player to the computer, you will find two portable devices. One is the built-in memory device and the other one is the device associated to the microSDTM card. It enables you adding up to 8GB of additional memory to your player. The player supports direct playing of songs/videos on microSDTM cards. Remove the rubber cover to open the slot. Insert the microSDTM card into the slot with the label facing towards the display. To use a memory card: 1. Press and hold the /M button to display the main menu. 2. Select Settings. Use the or button to select Storage and press the /M button to confirm. 3. You see two "folders" named Internal and SD/TF Card. To play the audio/video files stored on the memory card, access the SD/TF Card folder. Confirm with /M. Press and hold /M until the main menu (Settings) appears. Now you have access to the files on the memory card as usual. To take out the card, push the card slightly into the case. After it is ejected partially you can take it out. Note: Do not remove the microSDTM card when it is exchanging data with the computer. Do not remove the microSDTM card when the player is reading contents from the microSDTM card. Otherwise, it could cause the deadlock of the player, even lost of data. Please pause the playing first and then take out the Micro SD card safely.

Main Menu
The main menu offers ten functions: Music, Photo, Movie, Voice, FM Radio, Mic. Record, E-Book, Settings, Delete, About. The buttons or allow to navigate to the desired function. Pressing /M activates it. Press and hold /M until you are back in the main menu.

Listening to Music

Press and hold the /M button to display the main menu. Use the or button to select Music menu. Press /M to enter the Music mode. By default the player will be in STOP mode. Press /M to start playing the music. Note: If you turn on the player, the MP-370SD enters main menu with music option selected by default.

Using the Music Menu

The music menu allows you to manage all factors of listening, such as repeating tracks, selecting equalizers, and so on. Press the / button while listening to music. The music menu appears on the screen. Press the or button to search a menu item. Press the /M button to confirm the selection. Proceed as described in the section Basic Operation. Note: After finishing the music setting, press the to exit the music setting menu. / button

Lyrics

The player supports MP3 lyrics display. Note: The lyrics format has to be.LRC. The name of the lyrics file and the name of the music file have to be equal. Lyrics files have to be in the same folder as the associated music files.

Viewing Photos

To view photos: 1. Press and hold the /M button to display the main menu. 2. Use the or button to select Photo and press the /M button to confirm. 3. Use the or button to select Manual, Slide Show or Thumbnail. This player supports pictures in JPG and BMP formats. Manual: Use the photos manually. or button to browse the
Slide Show: The photos are displayed automatically. Thumbnail: The photos are displayed in thumbnail form. Up to four pictures are displayed on the screen at a time. Use the or but/M button to ton to navigate between pictures and press the view the selected picture in full screen. Press the / button to return to the previous menu.

Playing Movies

1. Press and hold the

/M button to display the main menu. 2. Use the or button to select Movie menu, and press the /M button to enter the video player mode. 3. Press the or button to search a video file that you want to play, and press the /M button to play. For detail information about playing, see the Basic Operation section.

Converting Video to MTV Format (VideoConverter.exe)
This player supports the playback of videos in MTV format. Other formats (AVI, WMV, MEPG1, Quick Time, MPEG2, RealMedia, MPEG4, 3GP) must be converted to MTV format. The MTVVideo Converter is supplied on the CD to enable you to convert the other formats to MTV format.

1. Insert the provided CD to the CD-ROM drive of your computer. 2. Double-click the file Video
Conveter.exe in the folder MTVVideoConverter of the CD. The Video Converter V2.9 window appears.

3. Click

Input Video, and then select the input source from the Open dialog box. Note: If your video files (e.g. MP4 file) cannot be found in the Open dialog box, select All Files (*.*) in the File of type box.
4. Click Output Video to select an output directory. 5. Click Advanced Setting. Select
128x128 in the Output Frame Size box and select MTV in the Output Format box. 6. Click Start Conversion. For detailed operations, click Help.

Note: To get the best resolution and make your video playable on the player, you must select 128*128 or less in the Output Frame Size box (Advanced Setting). Otherwise, the message Device Not Support will appear on the screen when you play the video file. You have to install codec before running Video Converter.exe. If not, the system will prompt Load Video Failed! and ask you to download the codec on the internet.
Important: Earphone cable serves as an extended antenna, so please keep it plugged in.
/M button to enter the main menu. 2. Select FM Radio using the or button and press the /M button to enter the FM mode. The MP3 player automatically searches for all radio stations with the strongest reception and save them in the 20 memory locations if you use the FM Radio function for the first time or restore all default settings. The unit will start to play the first channel automatically after finishing the search. 3. To exit the FM Radio mode, press and hold the /M button to return to the main menu.

Manually Searching a Frequency
Press the or button to search for the frequency you want.
Automatically Searching a Frequency
Push and hold or button to automatically search for radio stations with strong signal forward or backward.

Selecting FM Region

Before starting automatic or manual searching, you can select desired FM region. 1. Press the / button to open the FM Radio sub-menu. 2. Use the or button to select BAND and press the /M button. 3. Use the or button to select a FM region from US (87.5-108.0), EUROPE (87.5-108.0) and JAPAN (76.0-90.0), then press the /M button to confirm. 4. To exit the FM Radio sub-menu, press the / button.

Automatic Searching and Storing the Frequencies

1. Press the

/ button to open the FM Radio sub-menu. 2. Use the or button to select Auto Scan and press the /M button to start the search. The MP3 player automatically searches for all radio stations with the strongest reception and save them in the 20 memory locations (CH01CH20). The unit will start to play the first channel automatically after finishing the search. 3. Shortly press A-B/REC (previous channel) or /M (next channel) to select and listen to the other saved preset FM channels.

FM Recording

1. Press and hold the A-B/REC button to record
the FM while listening to the FM radio. 2. To pause the recording, press the /M or AB/REC button. To resume the recording, press the /M or A-B/REC button again. 3. To stop and finish the recording, press the / button. 4. The player will return to the FM radio playback mode. The recorded files are saved in the FMIN.DIR folder of the MP3 player as WAV files (format: FM000001.WAV, FM000002.WAV) and can be listened to in the Voice mode. Note: FM recording is automatically stopped when the memory of the player is full or the battery power is no longer sufficient. Data that has been already recorded is automatically saved.

Voice Recording
Press or in the main menu to select Mic. /M button. Record and press Or long press A-B/REC button to enter microphone record function when the player is in any state other than FM radio. The flashing record status icon indicates recording in progress. Recording can be stopped and resumed at any time by pressing /M (symbol ). Press / to stop the microphone recording. When microphone recording stops, the picture will be changed to voice playback function. The recorded files are saved in the MICIN.DIR folder of the MP3 player as WAV files (format: MIC0000X.WAV) and can be listened to in the Voice mode. Note: Voice recording is automatically stopped when the memory of the player is full or the battery power is no longer sufficient. Data that has been already recorded is automatically saved.

Reading an E-Book
1. Press and hold /M until the main menu is displayed. /M. The E2. Select E-BOOK and confirm with book list appears on the screen if you use the EBOOK function for the first time or reset the player. 3. Select a.txt file with the or button and confirm the selection with /M. /M to scroll 4. Press or to scroll through the text file. Press automatically page by page. Pressing /M again stops automatic page scrolling. Note: To return to the E-book list, press the / button. The last page you read is saved as a bookmark automatically when you exit the E-book mode. The bookmark page will be displayed on the screen when you switch to E-BOOK mode next time. Note: Some TXT files may not be read. This may happen because its format is not supported. Skip it or use another file.

Customizing Settings
To customize the player settings: 1. On the main menu, select the Settings item and press the /M button to enter the system settings mode. 2. Press the or button to select setting item and press the /M button to confirm. Press / to exit and return to the upper level menu. Select language in which the on-screen text is displayed. Normal, Repeat One, Repeat All, and Random&Repeat. This setting is used to set the sample rate of microphone recording. The available recording rates for this player are: 8000Hz, 11025Hz, 16000HZ, 22050Hz, 32000Hz, 44100Hz or to adjust brightness, after which Press you can press the /M button to save. Stop Off Sleep Off Backlight Off Storage Internal SD/TF Card 15sec, 30sec, 1min, 2min, 5min, 10min, 30min, Disable 10min, 15min, 30min, 60min, 90min, 2h., 3h., Disable 1min, 5min, 10min, 30min, 60min.and Always On Player memory is used as storage. microSDTM card is used as storage.

Deleting Files
/M button to display the main menu. 2. Use the or button to select Delete, and press /M. The file list appears on the screen. 3. Press the or button to navigate between files or folder. 4. To delete a file, select the file and press the /M or / button. To delete a folder, select the folder and press the / button. The Delete menu appears on the screen. 5. Use the or button to select Yes (continue delete) or No (cancel delete), and press the /M button to start deleting the files or exit without deleting. Note: Deleted files cant be recovered!

Note: If you select the microSDTM card as media source in the setting menu, the total/free memory of the card will be displayed on the screen instead of players memory.

Troubleshooting
Problem Cannot power on. The LCD displays nothing when the device is started. The player has no response when the buttons are pressed. No sound when playing an audio file. Noisy reproduction Possible Cause Battery is too low. Solution Charge the battery.
Battery is too low. The keys are locked. Player "hangs". The volume is too low. Bad audio file. Headphone plug is dirty. Bad audio file.
Charge the battery. Unlock the keys. Re-initialize player (press reset hole with metal pin). Adjust the volume. Delete or skip the file. Clean the plug. Delete or skip the file. Set in Settings/Language correct language. Check if the USB cable is correctly connected and in good condition. Delete files which were not longer needed. Make sure the video file is converted to MTV format with the provided converter tool. Skip it or reload another file Try to use an image editor. Skip it or reload another file.

Problem Recording cannot be done
Possible Cause Battery is too low. No more free memory in the player Earphone is not connected to the earphone jack.
Solution Charge the battery. Delete files which were not longer needed. Connect the earphone. The earphone cord functions as an antenna. Turn off the power of the electric devices. If it is effective, move and use the player away from those electric devices.
Poor FM reception Electric devices near the player.

Firmware Recovery
If unluckily that the firmware of the player is destroyed, then you need to restore the firmware on the provided CD to the player. Important: Back up important files. Firmware recovery will delete all the data saved in the player. Run the program before connecting the player with the computer. Steps to restore the firmware are as follows: 1. Insert the provided CD to the CD-ROM of your computer. 2. Open My Computer CD Firmware Recovery. 3. Run Factory4.exe. A graphic users interface pops up (Fig. 1). 4. Connect the player to the USB port of the computer. A yellow circle appears in the first square. (Fig. 2) 5. Click Firmware Feature to start the recovery. (Fig. 2) 6. Now the player can be used with recovered firmware.

Who May Enforce the Warranty This warranty may be enforced only by the original retail purchaser. What We Will Pay For We will pay all labor and material expenses for items covered by the warranty. Payment of shipping and insurance charge is discussed in the next section of this warranty. How You Can Get Warranty Service 1. If your unit needs service during the warranty period, please contact the local authorized distributor for this product. If you are unable to locate such a distributor, please contact your TEAC facility at the address indicated below. 2. After identifying the nearest authorized service station for this product the product or any parts believed to be defective must be shipped freight and insurance prepaid to such service station, together with a copy of this warranty certificate and a copy of your sales receipt, showing the date of purchase. Please ensure to fill out the warranty certificate correctly (do not forget the serial number of the product). TEAC reserves the right to refuse the guarantee service if the documents are missing or incomplete in the understanding of this terms. If the necessary repairs are covered by the warranty, and if you have sent the product or parts of it to the nearest authorized service station, the return freight and insurance charges will be prepaid. Please do not return your unit to the TEAC factory without our prior authorization (see also RMA form)! Limitations of Liability and Exclusion of Implied Warranties Unless considered unenforceable or unlawful under the applicable national law: 1. TEACs liability for any defective product is limited to repair or replacement of the product, at TEAC's option and the option of authorized service stations, authorized dealers and their authorized service stations. No one is authorized to assume any greater liability on TEACs behalf. TEAC shall not be liable for any damage to any other properties independant of their virtual or real nature especially there is no liability for any damage to any kind of software and/ or any kind of databases caused by TEAC products. Furthermore TEAC is not liable for damages arising out of loss of use, loss of revenue or profits, or any other damages, whether incidential, consequential, or otherwise. 2. All implied warranties or conditions, including but not limited to warranties or conditions of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, hereby are excluded. These warranty terms do not affect any statutory rights of consumers which were granted by the respective national laws.

Warranty Period TEAC Europe GmbH, hereinafter called TEAC, warrants this product against any defect in material and workmanship for two (2) years from the date of purchase by the original retail purchaser. According to the following terms this TEAC product will be repaired without charge of labor and materials by the authorized TEAC service stations, by the authorized TEAC dealers and/or their authorized service stations. TEAC, the authorized TEAC service stations, the authorized TEAC dealers and/or their authorized service stations may decide whether the defective product will be repaired or replaced as a whole or partially. The TEAC dependancies, the authorized TEAC service stations, the authorized TEAC dealers and/or their authorized service stations will also honor this warranty in the other EC and EFTA member states based on the terms in this warranty conditions.
What is Covered and What is Not Covered. Except as specified below, this warranty covers any defects in materials and workmanship of this product. The following are not covered by the warranty: 1. Damage to or deterioration of the external cabinet. 2. Any unit that has been altered or on which the serial number has been defaced, modified, or removed. 3. Damage, deterioration or malfunction resulting from: (a) accident, misuse, abuse or neglect; (b) failure to follow instructions supplied with the product; (c) any shipment of the product. Any damage arising of transportation is the liability of the freight company. Any damage arising of transportation and any implicit and explicit risks are the liability of the freight company. This is expressively not a liability of TEAC; (d) repair or attempted repair by anyone not authorized by TEAC to repair this product; (e) causes other than product defects, including lack of technical skill, competence or experience of the user. Especially damages which may arise of incidential use respectively by improper ventilation, (f) damages caused by improper or incorrect installation of software, (g) periodic check-ups, (h) maintenance respectively repair of parts due to normal wear and tear, (i) adoptions or adjustments to the product in order to conform to different national technical or safety standards of any country other than the one for which the product was originally designed and manufactured.
