Thompson, As a member of the Center for Science in the Public Interest, I urge you to finalize the proposed trans-fat regulation, The FDA should work out the final details and stop t dragging its feet on these life-saving rules. We can wait five more years for trans-fat labeling. Each year you delay means thousands of deaths from heart disease and billions of dollars in avoidable health care and related costs. ve We have got to give people the tools they need to take care of their health. I got patient charts piled up all over my office of women with preventable cardiovascular disease. I sure like to spend some of these healthcare dollars on our children or the arts d or something else if they were freed up as a result of lower incidence of cardiovascular disease.
