FujitsuTen teamed with TomTom, US based leading portable navigation solution provider GPS manufacturer, for its first steps into the US Sat-Nav market. They're rolling the Eclipse AVN2210p, a car audio unit that comes with a detachable Portable Navigational Device. Apparently, TomTom only provided the operating system for the GPS unit.Here are some specs. The audio unit has a satellite broadcasting digital radio with optional tuner and supports MP3 and WMA files on its CD and CD-R/RW player. The device also boasts an USB port for iPods or other portable audio players. The AVN2210p comes with a 3.5" TFT display, Bluetooth support for your mobile phone and a SD memory card that contains a map database for all the USA and Canada territories. It also acts as a dock, automatically charging the navigation unit. Other features include 5V pre-amplifier outputs and a 50Wx4-channel power amplifier with three band equalizer and a low bass filter. The detachable navigation section includes a built-in GPS antenna, built-in speaker and rechargeable battery, so you can use it separately from the base unit. With the free TomTom Home specific software, you'll also be able to access TomTom Plus services like weather and traffic reports. The user interface comes with 22 languages and with more than 55 voices for spoken instructions. You also get all the 3 D graphics and the rest of the navigation services that come along with the TomTom Plus. The Eclipse AVN2210p retails for $900 and it will be shipped to US retailers in May.
