One of the principal objectives when we designed the new Equium 2000 was to reduce space requirements to a minimum despite the inclusion of a desktop-format display.
As one of the worlds leading PC manufacturers, Toshiba has developed a wealth of important new ideas, technologies and solutions that have changed the way people make desktop and notebook computers. From the combination of NLX form factor motherboard and Instant Access Door in our desktops to the worlds first shared platform concept in notebook form Toshiba has been responsible for much that is innovative in both desktop and mobile computing. Now its time for the next quantum leap. Time to leave the old ideas and old ways of doing things to discover a totally new and truly innovative concept in personal computing. To do that, we gave the Equium 2000 a 15 LCD active matrix colour display, which we then merged with the main PC components using the same expertise that has secured our position as the world market leader in mobile computing. All core components are neatly integrated into a sleek, L-shaped case which also serves as the base for the display. As a result, the Equium 2000 footprint is reduced to precisely that a footprint. Yet despite the minimalist format, the Equium 2000 packs the kind of power youd expect from a conventional desktop PC, including fast Intel Celeron processors and copious hard disk space. Graphics data is transferred from the PC unit to the display via a direct digital link, providing brilliant image quality, superb contrast and important ergonomic benefits. system, which can be used to swap easily between the bundled diskette and CD-ROM drives. The SelectBay can also be used with all SelectBay modules developed for Toshibas Tecra notebook series, which include a Zip drive, CD-RW drive, and second hard disk.
When we developed the Equium 2000, our aim was to combine the desktop and notebook in a radical synthesis of what were once considered separate technologies. The result is a totally new and innovative solution. A computer which packs all our desktop and notebook expertise into one elegant package, taking the best of these technologies to a new, more intelligent conclusion. In short, a creative fusion of all that is good in desktop and mobile computing. And a welcome arrival of style and originality in the workplace without compromising on performance.
