We like the great big LCD and the manual exposure adjustability on this megazoom model, but its so-so image quality is frustrating. 10x zoom, big 2. Price -10x Canon zoom -Rich feature set -Menu system/user interface I bought this camera to shoot sports action.

The pros and cons of this camera I have owned the PDR-M70 and after several years when that camera broke.

the price was great $399 canadian , 2..5 LCD , 10 x zoom even dealer(futures)could not find highest resolution Easy use , 10x optical a plus,ISO speeds from 70-400 Lack of availability of 52mm add-on lenses.

Advanced Manual With AEB

M Series cameras are designed for users at all levels, including those with experience with full manual and advanced photographic control. In addition to their improved automatic settings, both the PDR-M700 and PDR-M500 have manual control of ISO, exposure control with program AE, aperturepriority AE and shutter-priority, aperture selection, shutter speeds up to 16 seconds for extended exposure photography (night scenes, fireworks), multi-mode flash, macro focus, multi-mode white balance, and much more. In manual mode, both cameras feature Auto Exposure Bracketing or AEB. This handy function makes it possible to create 3 or 5 bracket shots with different exposure points. With AEB its a breeze to get a perfectly exposed picture no matter what kind of lighting your subject is in.

Keep them all or choose only the best shots. Or set the camera to capture one frame per second continuously for up to 16 seconds (or 16 frames).

Ready for the big picture? An extra-large, super bright 2.5 inch LCD lets you frame shots with precision, plus gives you better viewing of the photos youve taken, even in direct sunlight. The LCD automatically changes its brightness according to the surroundings so its always just right.

Movie Mode with Audio

Capture high resolution AVI videos (15 frames/ second) with audio. In addition to a built-in microphone, the cameras have a terminal to let you connect an external microphone for higher audio quality.
A remote controller allows you to take photos or play back images away from the camera.
