Main battery pack
Never heat or disassemble the battery pack, because doing so could cause the battery to leak alkaline solution or another electrolytic substance. Never dispose of the battery pack by burning it in a fire, because the battery pack may explode. Never short-circuit the main battery pack by either accidentally or intentionally bringing both terminals in contact with another metal object. This could damage the battery pack and cause personal injury or a fire. Never puncture, strike or step on the battery pack. Examine your battery pack before using it. If your battery pack is rusty, emits an unusual odor or excessive heat, or you notice anything else that seems unusual, do not use the battery pack. Take it to an authorized Toshiba service provider. If your battery pack ever emits an unusual odor or excessive heat, becomes discolored or deformed, or leaks alkaline solution or another electrolytic substance, keep the battery pack away from heat and remove it from your Toshiba Pocket PC e830 or battery charger immediately. Dispose of the battery pack according to the following instructions:
Never dispose of used battery packs with other ordinary solid wastes, as the battery packs contain toxic substances. Always dispose of used battery packs in accordance with the prevailing community regulations that apply to the disposal of batteries. Cover the metal terminals with insulating tape in order to prevent accidental short-circuiting.
Always confirm that the battery pack is compatible with your Toshiba Pocket PC e830 before installing the battery pack in your Toshiba Pocket PC e830. Never expose the terminals of the battery pack to any other metal object. Wrap the battery, or place it in a protective plastic bag, whenever transporting it. Make sure that the battery temperature is between 5 degrees and 35 degrees Centigrade before charging the battery, to avoid leakage, excessive heat emissions, or deterioration of the battery pack. Never store or use the battery pack in an unventilated area, such as an automobile, where excessive temperatures may occur. Keep the battery pack out of reach of infants or small children. Never expose the battery pack to any liquid or direct sunlight. Never drop or throw the battery pack. If the battery pack leaks fluid, avoid any contact with eyes, skin or clothing. If contact occurs, wash eyes or skin immediately and thoroughly with water. Wash clothing in a synthetic detergent.
Always confirm that a click sound has resulted when installing the main battery pack in your Toshiba Pocket PC e830. That sound confirms that the battery pack has been properly inserted.
Power cords
Never use damaged or worn power cords or plugs. The use of damaged or worn power cords or plugs could result in electric shock, burns or fire. Contact an authorized Toshiba service provider immediately to obtain suitable replacements. Never bend or twist a power cord, and never pull on a power cord in an attempt to remove a plug from a socket. Never place heavy objects on a power cord, as this could result in damage to the cord. Always grasp the plug directly when unplugging a power cord to avoid causing any damage to the cord.

D. Settings
D1: What is SSID? What should I set in the SSID field? SSID stands for Service Set Identification, which is the ID to form the Wireless Network. You can set up to 32 characters in the SSID field. For the Infrastructure Mode, you should set the SSID the same as the Access Point been connected with. To create an 802.11 Ad Hoc Network, the SSID must be the same among stations to enable the wireless communication within the local area network.
You need to choose a proper SSID and channel for the first 802.11 Ad Hoc station. For other stations want to join the same SSID group, you could only choose the same SSID as the first station, but the channel does not take effect. The 802.11 Ad Hoc must enter the proper SSID. Blank SSID for the 802.11 Ad Hoc Mode is not allowed. The stations want to join the 802.11 Ad Hoc Network must have the same SSID and are suggested to have the same IP Address in the Network group.
D2: Why am I unable to choose the Channel field in Infrastructure Mode? For the Infrastructure Mode, the Channel is decided by the Access Point. You cannot create a new Wireless Network; only join the existing Access Point formed Wireless Network. D3: When should I set the IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway settings? When the Wireless Network does not have a DHCP server, you should set your own IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway for your Wireless Network connection. Otherwise, the OS might set a different Network group IP address for you and disconnect you from the Wireless Network. D4: How can I set the IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway settings? Tap Start, Settings, Connections, Network Cards, Network Adapters, IEEE802.11b WLAN Adapter, then IP Address to set the IP address, Subnet mask and Default gateway settings. D5: What Transmit Rate should I choose for Wireless Connection? Suggest you to use the Fully Auto option in the Transmission Rate field for full Transmission Data Rate range to automatically adjust the Best Communication Data Rate and to be compatible with other low speed 802.11 Wireless Device.
E. Security
E1: What is WEP? Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) is a security service, used to prevent unauthorized access to your wireless network.
Toshiba Pocket PC e830 Users Guide E2: How many WEP security service modes does my Wireless LAN support? WEP stands for Wired Equivalent Privacy that is the security service for the Wireless Network. There are three WEP security service modes available for IEEE 802.11b WLAN Adapter formed Wireless Network. The first is Disable which disables the WEP security service; the second is 64bit which supports 5 bytes Hexadecimal value WEP security service; the third is 128bit which supports 13 bytes Hexadecimal value WEP security service.
