In a culture where donuts notoriously have the reputation for being junk food, Mighty-O has raised the standard for what should - and what should NOT - go into donuts. The company's guiding principle of using all natural organic ingredients has allowed them to be the exclusive supplier of fresh donuts to health conscious, progressive retailers like Puget Consumers Co-op (PCC) and Whole Foods Markets throughout the Pacific Northwest. Mighty-O donuts can also be found at many hip local cafes. Natural Start 1718 N. A Skagit Valley Family Owned Farm Millennium Farms 1504 NW 299th St., Ridgefield, WA 98642 Tel: 360-887-4485 Contact: Michael Stucky mfarms@tds.net Millennium Farms is located in Ridgefield, Washington and has the largest selection of heirloom vegetable, flower and herb starts in the greater Portland area. Specializing in heirloom or old-fashioned, open-pollinated varieties of plants, Millennium Farms is owned and operated by Michael and Missy Stucky and their family.
The Stuckys specialized in heirloom varieties because of the superior flavor of the older, non-hybridized vegetables. They grow all of their plants, vegetables and flowers alike, using bio-dynamic methods which focus on feeding and growing the organisms in the soil instead of just feeding the plants. They and a growing number of growers and consumers have found the best-flavored vegetables and fruits are heirloom varieties grown bio-dynamically. Many of the top-rated restaurants of Portland and Vancouver are their customers. The Stocker Farm is a third generation farm that has been on the same 10-acre site since 1919. We grow a wide variety of vegetable crops without the use of chemicals. We rotate 5 acres for active vegetable farming with the other five being in what is called a green manure crop. Edwin Stocker, Jr., is known locally as the Corn King. The farm also hosts a farm market. We carry local berries and fresh tree fruits from Eastern Washington. Our own grown, chemical-free vegetables are picked fresh daily - their flavor and quality are extraordinary. We also carry a wide variety of items unique to our farm market like local honey, preserves and cider. Stocker Farms hosts Pumpkin Field Festival every Sunday in October where you can pick your own pumpkins and enjoy exciting entertainment including hay rides and face painting. In cooperation with Snohomish Conservation District we have been working on a couple of habitat restoration projects on our farm in Monroe, neighboring Snohomish. Also, be sure to visit the corn maze and come back at Christmas for the tree selection. Slow Food Snoqualmie Valley Duvall, WA 98019 info@slowfoodsnovalley.org http://www.slowfoodsnovalley.org/ Slow Food USA is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating the food traditions of North America through programs and activities dedicated to Taste Education, Defending Biodiversity and Building Food Communities. Slow Food USA believes that pleasure and quality in everyday life can be achieved by slowing down, respecting the convivial traditions of the table and celebrating the diversity of the earth's bounty. From the spice of Cajun cooking to the delicious simplicity of produce at a farmers' market; from animal breeds and heirloom varieties of fruits and vegetables to handcrafted wine and beer, farmhouse cheeses and other artisanal products; these foods are a part of our cultural identity. They reflect generations of commitment to the land and devotion to the processes that yield the greatest achievements in taste. These foods, and the communities that produce and depend on them, are constantly at risk of succumbing to the effects of the fast life, which manifests itself through the industrialization and standardization of our food supply and degradation of our farmland. By reviving the pleasures of the table, and using our taste buds as our guides, Slow Food USA believes that our food heritage can be saved. Our goal is to put the carriers of this heritage on center stage and educate our membership about the importance of these principles. We hope you will join us. Slow Food USA oversees Slow Food activities in North America, including the support and promotion of the activities of more than 170 chapters that carry out the Slow Food mission on a local level. Each chapter offers educational events and public outreach that promote taste education, that advocate sustainability and biodiversity and that connect producers and "co-producers."

Caf Burlington 311 East Fairhaven, Burlington, WA 98233 Tel: 360-755-0016 Fax: 360-755-2106 Contact: Brad and Amy Whaley info@cafeburlington.com http://www.cafeburlington.com/ Skagit County has a long and proud agricultural history and continues to produce a world-class array of outstanding homegrown products including fresh fruits and vegetables, meats and poultry, superior seafood, and specialties such as pure honey, fresh fruit preserves, and dairy products. At Caf Burlington we use as many locally produced products as possible. Because the purity, freshness, and wholesomeness of the ingredients we use in our kitchen is so important to us and to you, we try to know as many of our suppliers, ranchers, and farmers as we can on a personal level. We also use many natural and organic food products. In addition, most of the meat and poultry we use comes from animals humanely raised in a free-range environment and without chemical-supplemented feed. We feature several vegetarian dishes and we try to accommodate special diets upon request. We are proud of our little corner of the world and it is our sincere desire that Caf Burlington evokes the indomitable spirit and distinctiveness of the Skagit Valley.

Welcome to Mallard Ice Cream where we ask the question..could ice cream really be the food of the gods? It's reasonable to assume that ambrosia, food of the gods, was organic. Here at Mallard we hand craft ice cream with an emphasis on fresh, local, organic ingredients. What we do is deceptively simple, and while we do our best to stick to the basics, we encourage you to look around and see how we turn something simple into something blatantly superior. Mallard ice cream loves its local farms and Farmers! We have spent years cultivating relationships and educating ourselves about locally grown fruits and vegetables. Through this education we have learned what produce works best in our ice cream to achieve a balanced strength of flavor. We have also found fruits uncommon to the ice cream world such as Aronia berry and Sea berry that wouldn't be possible if not for our relationship with the growers. Mashiko 4725 California SW , Seattle, WA 98116 Tel: 206-935-4339 sushipimp@sushiwhore.com http://sushiwhore.com/ In 1994 I had an idea. Believing that food is one of the most powerful languages in not only defining cultures but also in integrating them, I wanted to open a Japanese restaurant that would transcend the traditional way of presenting and thinking of food from my country. Furthermore I wanted to do this in a way that wouldn't send my customers into debt. In August of 2009, after celebrating 15 years in business, I had another idea. I followed my conscience and switched to all sustainable seafood. At Mashiko we are always trying to create new and interesting ways to interpret Japanese food and sushi. This is an all-inclusive process. You'll never hear traditional Japanese music in Mashiko, because it reminds me of two things: grammar school and death. Believe me you, if you've ever been to an elementary school in Japan. death isn't too bad. So we play new and interesting music that we hope will compliment the food. I want you to try new things and ask questions. I want you to stuff your face. I want you to laugh and enjoy food and life. Please, shut up and eat! --Hajime

Monica's Waterfront Bakery 3472 NW Byron St, Olalla, WA 98359 Tel: 360-698-2991 info@waterfrontbakery.com http://www.waterfrontbakery.com The Team at Monica's is known for thinking globally and acting locally. Utilizing and therefore supporting local farms and other businesses is extremely important to us, as is offering you ingredients that are sustainable and responsible whenever we can. On that note, here are some things that you might like to know: We are a CarbonFree Partner! This means that we offset the carbon footprint for our selves, our business and each of our employees. While we reduce what we can, we offset what we can't, allowing us to take action on global warming now. We source locally whenever we can and much of our produce comes from Gregory's Produce. Paul Gregory is a local organic farmer in Silverdale, who we work with to provide you with the freshest in-season produce available. Paul comes in several times a week and picks up our food waste to use as compost on his farm. It is all a wonderful circle and we are working together to offer you more all the time. We also get produce from other small farmers in the area, and we use Duck Delivery in Sumner for what we cannot get locally. Duck is nationally recognized for their efforts towards sustainability and they have a lot of Washington produce to offer. The bulk of our Dairy and eggs come from Puget Sound Dairy, a local distributor based in Bremerton. Dave ensures that our dairy products and eggs are Washington based and hormone and antibiotic free. Our goal is to move towards organics, although that is far more expensive and lies further out into the future. Our house blend coffee comes from Personal Roast, right in our own back yard, on the canal. Paul and Dean are busy roasting their organic, fair-trade beans to our specifications, and giving back to the community through donations of both time and money. Our other drip coffees and espresso come from Caffe Umbria. They roast their beans in Seattle and we love using their organic blend, which is also a fair trade coffee. Caffe Umbria donates a portion of their sales to organizations that help support fair trade coffee farmers. The buzz on our honey is that it is from Martello's, just up the road in Seabeck. The Martello family has made friends with the local honeybees who are busy at work to sweeten your day. Bob travels around the world to teach those in need how to make a living through honey bees. People who have no other means of making a living learn how to harvest honey and keep bees. What an amazing gift the Martello's give!

http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com Back in 1980, Whole Foods started out with one small store in Austin, Texas. Today, we're the world's leader in natural and organic foods, with more than 270 stores in North America and the United Kingdom. Who are we? Well, we seek out the finest natural and organic foods available, maintain the strictest quality standards in the industry, and have an unshakeable commitment to sustainable agriculture. Around here, we often talk about our mission in terms of Whole Foods - Whole People - Whole Planet. Basically, we think these elements all play a huge role in our success. Whole Foods - We search for the highest quality, least processed, most flavorful and natural foods possible because we believe that food in its purest state - unadulterated by artificial additives, sweeteners, colorings and preservatives - is the best tasting and most nutritious food there is. Whole People - Our people are our company. They are passionate about healthy food and a healthy planet. They take full advantage of our decentralized, self-directed team culture and create a respectful workplace where people are treated fairly and are highly motivated to succeed. Whole Planet - We are committed to helping take care of the world around us, and our active support of organic farming and sustainable agriculture helps protect our planet. And while we assist our global neighbors through our Whole Planet Foundation's micro-lending operations, we also step out the back door of each of our stores to support food banks, sponsor neighborhood events and donate to local non-profit groups.
