No More Pointing!

The combination of the Orion with its companion MRF-250 base station will enable you to place your audio/video components out of sight behind closed doors and/or in another room of your house. The Orion sends radio signals to the MRF-250 through walls and closed doors (50-100 away, indoors or outdoors). The MRF-250 converts your commands to the infrared signals that control your A/V components.
1. The Orion remote control sends radio waves in every direction, so you dont have to point the remote anymore!

Finding the MAIN Menu

The MAIN Button always takes you to the MAIN Menu which may be named for the room the Orion controls.
The PAGE button switches between two MAIN Menu pages IF you have more than ten remote controls. When the top title bar says MAIN or the name of a Room, you are on the MAIN Menu.

The Orion

2. Self-adhesive Flashers affixed to the front panels of components relay commands to components out of line-of-sight with the MRF-250.
The lower title bar displays PAGE 1 or PAGE 2 as you switch. Each of the remote controls the Orion replaces are represented by a button next to the corresponding screen label.

The MRF-250

3. The built-in Front Blaster sends commands to components in the same cabinet space as the MRF-250.

Turn On Your Entire System
Power on/off your entire system with the MAIN Menu by following these steps: 1. Touch the MAIN button to make sure that you are on the MAIN Menu. It doesnt matter which page of the MAIN Menu is displayed.
The MAIN Menu enables you to either select a new Activity or simply select a new Device to control. When you select a new activity, the remote control will issue a MACRO (a timed sequence of many commands from many different remote controls). This MACRO was custom programmed for your system by your installer. It will issue all of the commands necessary to switch the sound and picture of your system. When you select a device, the remote control becomes the remote control you select WITHOUT affecting the home theater.
2. Touch the On or Off button as desired. Wait until all components are correctly powered on or off. Turning on the system may take ten to twenty seconds.

Select a New ACTIVITY

1. Touch the MAIN button to make sure that you are on the MAIN Menu. Touch the PAGE button if you dont see the activity you want.
3. If one component does not turn on/off, simply touch the button again.
TIP The remote control will not respond to a new button push while is still issuing commands. While busy, the indicator flashes at the top of the screen next to the screen title.
2. Touch the activity button next to the desired screen label. For example if you wish to watch a DVD movie, touch the DVD button.

Page 5

Controlling the Volume
For your convenience, the VOLUME Up, VOLUME Down and the MUTE buttons will always control the surround sound system, regardless of what activity or device you are controlling. The MAIN Menu activity buttons issue MACROS that reset the sound and picture of your home theater to a new activity.
TIP The remote control is still issuing commands while the indicator flashes.

Operating any Device

If the sound or the picture still are not correct, repeat steps 1 and 2. You can see the name of the device at the top of the screen. If it is not the one you want, return to the MAIN Menu and select a new device or activity.

Select a DEVICE Only

1. Touch the MAIN button to make sure that you are on the MAIN Menu. Touch the Page button if you dont see the activity you want. 2. Press and hold the MAIN button. While holding the MAIN button down, touch the button next to the desired screen label. The remote control will now display the name of the selected device and all buttons will operate the device, however, the sound and the picture of your system have not been changed.
All of the printed label buttons on the remote operate just like the original remote control (with the exception of Volume Up, Volume Down and Mute which operate your surround sound system).

Page 7

7 The Power ON and OFF buttons now operate only the selected device (to turn the entire system on/off, return to the MAIN Menu).
8 The thumbpad easily operates on screen menus with either the Left or Right hand. When you are operating a device with any kind of on-screen menu, guide or display, the thumbpad offers you easy one-handed control with your thumb.
The ten screen labeled buttons are now labeled with any commands that do not fit one of the buttons with printed labels.
To SELECT or say OK, simply press your thumb straight down. Youll feel the click as the OK/SELECT/ENTER command is sent.

Using FAV - Favorites

The favorites menu is created uniquely for you by your custom installer. The screen labeled buttons now issue timed sequences of commands that will reset your system with one touch. Typically, the favorites menu is programmed with one touch shortcut buttons that issue all of the necessary commands to change the channel of your satellite dish or television. Thus, instead of entering a two or three digit number (which you must remember) and the enter command, you simply select the favorite button labeled HBO, CNN, TNT etc. The Favorite menu can be programmed with any favorite activity. It is not limited to channel favorites. Your custom installer may invent a feature unique to

The remote control can display up to four pages of screen labeled buttons for each activity or device! As you scroll through the pages, notice that the bottom title bar displays which page you are viewing (PAGE 1, PAGE 2, etc.).

Page 9

9 your system. Discuss any non-channel favorite label with your installer, so that you understand how to use it. To use the FAVORITE Menu: 1. Press the FAV button. The top title bar will now display FAV.

Backlighting

Turn on the backlighting by pressing the LIGHT button on the right side of the the remote control. The backlighting will stay on briefly, then turn off automatically. If you wish to turn it off without waiting, simply tap the LIGHT button again.
Use the FAV button and the PAGE button to navigate through your various pages of FAVORITES. The FAV button scrolls up from Page 1 to Page 5, using the PAGE button scrolls down from Page 5 to Page 1. As you select a new page, the bottom title bar will display the page number (page 1, page 2, etc.)

Two Fixed IR Outputs Plus.
The MRF-260 is equipped with two fixed IR line outputs with standard 3.5 jacks for standard IR emitter/ flashers.

.Two Variable IR Outputs

Two adjustable IR line outputs.
The MRF-260 is equipped with two adjustable IR line outputs. Each output can be individually matched to rear panel IR inputs on any component that is designed to be operated by a standard IR repeater. The outputs utilize a 3.5mm jack and are compatible with standard IR emitter/flashers as well.
Two fixed IR line outputs.
Up To 15 Equipment Locations with Identical Components
Every URC Complete Control remote is addressable. They can be programmed to specifically control components in a particular room by installing an MRF-260 base station at each location. In operation its simple: when you select a device located in the Den, the remote only sends commands to the Den. Full description

Radio Frequency (RF) operation provides up to 100' range though walls, floors and doors, indoors or outdoors. Self-adhesive "emitters" affix to the infrared sensors on the front panels of your components. The emitters relay IR commands to components out of sight to the RF base station front blaster. The emitters plug in to the RF base station rear flasher line outputs via their 10 foot cables. The MX-850 can be programmed to operate equipment placed throughout the house, by installing a RF base station at each location. In operation it's simple: when you select a device located in the home theater, the MX-850 talks to the RF Base station in the home theater. This makes possible a dream come true! A macro may be programmed to turn off all of the TVs in the entire house with one touch. The RF Base stations enable your installation to control up to six identical TVs or other identical components (VCRs, CD players, etc.) by routing your commands only to the device you select on your MX-850. The other identical TVs will not receive commands. This allows you to have independent control of identical devices. Very useful with devices such as cable boxes, those usually are the same make and model throughout the house. The MX-850 controls up to 20 components. Each of the 20 components can be programmed with up to 4 pages of LCD screens, plus the 33 hard buttons. The MX-850 allows you to edit the text on each LCD screen exactly as you prefer. The MX Editor software contains over 1,500 "code sets" of Brands/Models, including hard to find and specific discrete codes that allow for precise control of all system components. MX Editor software also has the ability to learn commands and Live Update the IR database over the internet, guaranteeing compatibility with any component you may add to your system in the future. The powerful memory of the MX-850 offers up to 912 potential macro buttons. Each of these macros can play back recorded sequences of commands that completely automate a complex system with one touch. A macro can record and play back up to 190 steps with time delays between steps when desired. For example: a single touch to the ON button could turn on the TV, the surround sound system, and the satellite receiver, then set the TV to the correct video input, the surround system to the right audio settings, and finish by selecting your favorite satellite TV channel. The MX-850 allows the user to program up to 50 favorite channels and the 5 LCD screens will display the favorite channels that are programmed. This allows the users to access their favorite channel with one simple button press. The optimized layout of hard buttons enables you to naturally reach both 5-way thumbpad to navigate on-screen menus and the critical Transport, Channel and Volume buttons. You'll quickly discover that you prefer using the MX-850 to control all the special features of your system (especially digital video recorders, satellite receivers, DVD players, surround sound receivers and digital cable boxes). There will never be a reason to dig out your old factory remotes again. The bright backlight using the latest EL technology enables a customer to use both remote control units in a low light environment. The MX-850 system features a smart memory back-up system that will retain the programmed memory for up to ten years, even with dead batteries. The centrally located Joystick helps the user navigate through menus and guides with ease, a very convenient feature for DVD players, satellite and cable TV and personal video recorders. The center select button is now detached form the joystick to offer more accurate response to button presses. The Laser Etched buttons have a look and feel that instantly appeals to the customer. These Laser Etched buttons add a very distinguished look and extended durability to the remote controls that will compliment any high-end system.
