STEP2 Check battery polarity carefully, and install the batteries as shown in the illustration below. STEP3 Replace the battery compartment cover.
Install two AAA alkaline batteries as shown here
If none of the three digit code numbers assigned to your brand of equipment works, or the code table does not list your brand, you can use the Auto Search Method to find the correct three-digit code number for your equipment by following steps: STEP1 Turn on the equipment that you want the remote control to operate (Cable Box, TV, VCR, or DVD). STEP2 Press the [DEVICE] button and the [SELECT/OK] button simultaneously for three seconds. The device LED will turn on indicating that it is ready to be programmed. The LED will remain on for 20 seconds. The next step must be entered while the LED is on. STEP3 Point the remote control toward the equipment and alternately press the [CH+] (or [CH-]) button and the [MUTE] button. If the right code number is sent, the equipment will turn off. *Note : You can verify that you selected the correct code by pressing the [MUTE] button again. The equipment should turn On or Off. STEP4 Press the same [DEVICE] button to store the code. The Device LED will blink twice to confirm that the code has been stored.
STEP2 Press a [MACRO] button and the [SELECT/OK] button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The CBL device LED will turn on for 20 seconds. The next step must be performed while the LED is on. STEP3 Press the [CH+] button to erase the functions stored in the button. The CBL device LED will blink twice to confirm that the memory button has been erased.

Your Programming Codes Set-Top Box ___002___ TV _______________ DVD _______________ VCR _______________ Other ______________
Waitsfield Cable Remote Control FAQs
(Model # UR5U-8720L-WFC)
How Do I Program My Remote to Turn on/off my TV and DVR? Your universal remote control comes preprogrammed to work with your Motorola set-top box. You can also program it to operate your TV, VCR, DVD player, and other Audio equipment if you choose. *
Step 1. Refer to the instruction manual included with your remote or visit our website to find the codes for the manufacturer of the equipment you would like to program. We recommend that you start with your TV. Step 2. Turn on your TV or other equipment that you want to program. Step 3. Press the TV button and the OK/SEL button simultaneously for 3 seconds. The Component LED light will turn on for 30 seconds indicating the remote is ready to be programmed. Step 4. Point the remote toward your TV and enter the 3-digit code. If the 3-digit code you entered is correct, your TV or other equipment you are programming will turn off. If it did not turn off, continue entering the next code numbers until the component you are programming turns off. Step 5. After you've entered the correct code and the component you are programming has turned off, press the POWER button to turn the component back on. Now it is time to test the VOLUME and MUTE buttons for the TV to make sure they all work. If any of the functions do not work as they should, repeat from STEP 3 using the next 3-digit code number listed for that brand until you find the one that works. Step 6. Once you have found the correct 3-digit code, save it by pressing the same COMPONENT button one more time. The Component LED light will blink twice to confirm the code was successfully stored. Step 7. Repeat the process for each piece of equipment you want to program. Note: Once youve programmed the remote control to work with a TV in one of your rooms, be sure to label it accordingly (i.e., Living Room TV). If the remote control gets moved to a different brand/model TV in another location in your home, it will not work properly. *All brands and models may not be supported.
My remote sometimes stops working on my set-top box or TV. Your remote is pre-programmed to work with your set-top box. However, if it stops working, simply follow these instructions to re-program.
Try pressing the Component button (CBL or TV, depending on what component you are trying to talk to) first, then press the button for what you are trying to do (volume, channel, etc.). One of the other Component buttons may have accidentally been pressed; when this happens, your remote is trying to send commands to that component. Continued on back.
Waitsfield Cable P.O. Box 9, Waitsfield, VT www.waitsfieldcable.com 496-5800
Make sure you are within range (about 12-15 feet) and pointing the remote at the component. Try fresh batteries. Your remote uses two AA alkaline batteries. If it still isnt working, use the following steps to reprogram your remote.
My remote lost its memory or gets deprogrammed altogether On your remote control, press and hold the CBL and OK/SEL button for three seconds, until the CBL button lights, then release the buttons. On the keypad, press 2, then the CBL button, which will blink twice to show that it has accepted the code. The set-top box should turn off or on. (This procedure must be done within 20 seconds, or the remote will exit the programming mode.) The remote is now reprogrammed to your cable set-top box. (This also works on the UR3-SR big-button remote).
I still cant get my remote to work my set-top box
Try a factory reset: Press and hold the CBL and REC buttons for five seconds, until the Component buttons flash three times in sequence. Release the buttons, and the remote should now control the set-top box. (Note: this will erase any codes that you have stored in the remote to control your other components, such as TV, DVD, etc.)
How can I program the WC remote so that if I mistakenly press TV and then the Channel Up/Down button, it doesnt switch the TV to a different input?
Once you program the WC remote to control your TV set, you can eliminate this problem by pressing and holding the TV and OK/SEL button for three seconds until the TV button lights. Release the buttons. Next, (within 30 seconds) press the Volume down button, and then the CBL button. The TV button will blink twice to confirm.
Whenever I press a button, the AUX, DVD, VCR, TV and CBL buttons flash twice
This is a low-battery indicator. Replace with two AA alkaline batteries. The remotes have a non-volatile memory; codes programmed into them will last for ten+ years, even if the batteries go dead or are removed. TIP: If you use your remote to control TV, DVD or VCR functions and have more than one set, label each remote so they dont get mixed up!
Visit our website at www.waitsfieldcable.com for more tips and online tutorials on using your remote and Interactive Program Guide.
