The Vitoplex 100-LS is a compact three-pass boiler for generating low pressure steam in the output range from 0.26 to 2.2 t/h. The boiler is designed for operation with 1 bar pressure. Subject to requirements, the operating pressure can be reduced to 0.5 bar. Wide water galleries and wide spaces between hot gas pipes and inserts into the boiler wall provide excellent natural circulation and a reliable heat transfer, resulting in high operational reliability and a long service life. The low material loading through the completely water-cooled rear reversing chamber and the absence of firebrick lining result in an extremely low-stress boiler construction. A very positive result of the large water content are the favourable operating characteristics during load fluctuations. Residual moisture in the steam is avoided, even when steam is suddenly drawn off or in large volumes, thanks to the boiler design. Consequently, high quality steam is constantly available. The large steam chamber with its correspondingly large evaporator and the integral steam drier support the balanced characteristics of this boiler. The output range of the Vitoplex 100-LS meets the requirements in air conditioning and heating systems, commercial nurseries and commercial enterprises such as laundries, where low steam pressure is

required. The design of this boiler too has been proven in thousands of applications. The very low combustion chamber volume loading and the three-pass design enable this boiler to stay even within restrictive emission limits.

The Vitomax 200-HS is an oil or gas fired high pressure steam boiler to category IV of the Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC with a permissible operating pressure of 6 to 25 bar. Even during the boiler development, our engineers collaborated closely with major burner manufacturers with world wide representation. The resulting two boiler types in this series offer minimum emissions and a high degree of flexibility: Vitomax 200-HS, type M237; steam output: 0.7 to 3.8 t/h, operating pressure up to 25 bar. Arranging the flame tube on the side enabled the development of an extremely compact boiler design without sacrificing established design benefits. Vitomax 200-HS, type M235; steam output: 4 to 25 t/h, operating pressure up to 25 bar. A boiler in the classic style. The flame tube is arranged in the centre, offset slightly downwards; the hot gas flues of the second and third pass are arranged symmetrically above. For the production of superheated steam, a superheater is integrated into these boilers between the second and the third pass above the upper reversing chamber. This enables the generation of temperatures above the saturation pressure.

For us, utilising fuel to its maximum goes without saying. Today, it is not a matter of choice but absolutely essential to protect the environment and natural resources that the maximum is extracted from the available fuel. For that reason, Viessmann has developed the economiser (ECO) that is integrated into our boilers as standard. This economiser is available in two different versions (type 100 and type 200), that raise the fuel efficiency up to 95 %. Installing a stainless steel heat exchanger makes easy use of condensing technology.
The Vitomax 200-HS with integral economiser is generally used in the same type of systems as boilers without ECO. In a series comprising two types, steam output between 0.7 and 25 t/h is provided at 25 bar operating pressure.

Waste heat boiler for hot water and steam generation

Waste heat boilers utilise the heat from flue gases generated during combustion processes or the heat in hot exhaust air from industrial processes to generate hot water or saturated steam. Economical and political considerations frequently suggest the installation of waste heat boilers in combination with gas turbines and CHP stations. The influence of steadily increasing energy costs has also led to a rise in the use of waste heat boilers to exploit the waste heat generated in industrial processes. Viessmann waste heat boilers are available in two designs: I Waste heat boilers (AHK) without additional combustion. For this, exclusively the flue gas/exhaust air volumes are used to generate hot water or saturated steam. I Hot water or steam boilers with waste heat utilisation. These are boilers with conventional combustion and additional waste heat utilisation.

Function and layout The waste heat boilers from Viessmann are designed according to the flame tube/smoke tube boiler principle. Here, the hot flue gas is directed through pipe bundles, where its heat is transferred to the water inside the boiler body. By contrast, on flue gas heat exchangers, the water flows through pipe bundles while the flue gas flows around the pipes inside the heat exchanger housing. Flue gas heat exchangers are preferred when using "cooler" flue gases for generating DHW. Flue gas collectors are located on the inlet and outlet side of the waste heat boilers, where cleaning apertures and flue connections are located. To minimise radiation losses, the waste heat boiler is fitted with a 120 mm composite thermal insulation with a painted sheet steel jacket.

VITOCONTROL

Regulating and control system
Regulating and control system Vitocontrol Essential part of the steam boiler system is the control technology. In this regard too, Viessmann calls on the best technology available today. To ensure a safe and convenient operation, we have developed a new generation of our control panel technology: Vitocontrol.

Function: Based on a modular PLC, all nonsafety control functions of the boiler are managed here. For example, the boiler output, the water level control, the T.D.S. and blow-down control, the feed water pump control and, if required, the control of the economiser bypass damper and the flue gas damper are handled by the Vitocontrol. Remote supervision with automatic operation and fault messages via the telephone network is enabled via a control room or an extension module. That way, the world is your oyster. Updates, checks and optimising can be implemented from anywhere. All the above functions are programmed in the PLC. These can be linked up through additional field devices and by activating the software without much effort. The safety equipment required in accordance with the regulations applicable in each country are integrated into the control panel.

Display overview

Operation: The system is programmed and controlled via a colour touch screen display with graphic capability that is built into the control panel door. On the standard display, you can read off the most important functions at a glance. The combination of graphic display and plain text messages allows you to orientate yourself quickly. The system is well prepared for the use in the country of destination. You can select from five preprogrammed languages. Your customers, your local service engineer or a service engineer from a service centre will be grateful.
Display: Operation and fault messages are clearly indicated on the display. The stored history enables the user or service engineer to act more speedily and specifically. We have equipped the system with the Profibus-DP as interface to the domestic services or to a control room.

A perfect system all round
System design Any system is only as good as its weakest components. That principle motivates Viessmann during the selection of the available system components. Apart from the demand for the highest quality and flexibility, ensuring a perfect match amongst individual components is of vital importance. Whether chemical or thermal water treatment, boiler control valves or safety assemblies, all components supplied by us offer a perfect functional match. A module for water softening, chemical dosing and thermal degassing will be supplied, matched to your individual demand and subject to the fresh water quality. Subject to the water quality, either dual pendulum softening systems, full desalination or reverse osmosis systems are employed. The aims and benefits of excellent and reliable system technology are immediately apparent: Fully automatic operation can safeguard the demand-dependent operation of the boiler system over a period that can be freely selected. That improves the steam quality and extends the service life of the boiler. One side-effect that should not be ignored is a significant reduction of the running costs. Fewer T.D.S. and blow-down losses of boiler water mean less topping up with treated and heated feed water.

Feed water pumps Also, where feed water pumps are concerned, compromise never entered our thinking. Whether continuous feed water control via control valves with spillback or the use of inverter pumps, we only work with renowned manufacturers. Naturally, the pump is supplied as assembly including fittings and shut-off valves. This simplifies the layout, installation and commissioning. We will allocate the pump to the boiler taking the application area into consideration. You should not have to concern yourself with such details.

Boiler platform To make the installation simpler, our boilers are also equipped with a cover. This makes working on or above the boiler much simpler without the risk of damaging the boiler. For systems designed to be fitted with a boiler platform, we offer bespoke platforms with handrails and ladders that comply with the Health & Safety requirements of the target country. Sound insulation A boiler delivered with a correctly sized burner, matching burner plate, where required with equipment to provide sound insulation and silencing, reduces your efforts to a minimum.

The large boiler systems are manufactured in Berlin/Brandenburg. Specialist engineers provide consultation and project management tailored to your individual requirements. The large boiler production has its own engineering and development department, modern production facilities, such as welding robots, flexible manufacturing systems with CNC-controlled machines, laser and plasma cutters and a modern press shop. Stresses are analysed using the Finite Element Method, which also assists in optimising, for example, pipe arrangements or welded joints. These all support and safeguard a design that conforms with relevant regulations.

Sufficient and adequately sized cleaning and inspection openings are fitted to all Viessmann high pressure hot water boilers as well as high pressure and low pressure steam boilers
Our production technology meets all common, country-specific standards and regulations. In addition, we set high standards for the materials used and their processing. In addition to standards and regulations, our welders are subject to supplementary supervision. Delivery conditions to limit tolerances and material properties are also agreed with our suppliers.
Our design philosophy is based on the principle of engineering safety into the product itself. This is reflected particularly in ensuring low stress designs. We achieve this principle by allowing for large expansion joints between components themselves and their relative wall thickness. The Vitomax series of large boilers are manufactured in smaller numbers or as bespoke boiler systems. At the end of production, the boilers are subjected to a pressure test at 1.85-times operating pressure, in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive. On high pressure steam and hot water boilers, welding seams are inspected in accordance with the country-specific regulations using non-destructive ultrasound and X-ray techniques.
