(GB) Instructions VIVANCO UR 5000 remote control for almost all TV, audio by learning, video and other infrared-controllable appliances Inserting the batteries Open the battery flap on the back of the remote control, press the flap lightly downwards, then insert 4 alkaline AAA batteries. Check that the polarity markings on the batteries and in the battery compartment are correctly lined up (+=+), then close the flap carefully. Always use undamaged batteries. If battery icon is shown on display, batteries are on low level. Please replace batteries with new ones to ensure proper functioning. Adapting to appliances In order to control your appliances you must adapt or set the remote control to them. There are three ways of doing so: direct control code entry, code search or learn. If your UR 5000 does not understand you, it blinks several times and you can then repeat the entry. Each understood entry is confirmed by an appliance button blinking once briefly and a beep tone. Direct control code entry using the enclosed list Example: setting to control a Panasonic television set: 1. The enclosed list gives, for example, the Panasonic Code 2551. Please make sure you have selected the correct list for television sets (TV). 2. To prepare code entry, press the required appliance button, e.g. TV, the icon (6) will change to blue colour. 3. Press and hold down P+ and VOL- simultanously for 3 seconds until the indicator led (2) lights up. 4. Then press the number buttons (e.g. 5 1) in sequence. 5. Once the numbers have been entered the lamp goes out and the remote control is ready to control your appliance.

6. Finally, test the control code setting by trying to control (in this example) your television set. If it does not work at all or not correctly try a different code from the list or the code search (see below). 7. To set the remote control for other appliances, proceed in the same way. Instead of the TV appliance button, press another button e.g. DVD, SAT, VCR, CBL. Please Note DVD, CBL, SAT/DVB and other Device Codes can be entered into any device modes except TV & VCR. Just simply press the device mode key and enter your 4-digit device code for DVD, CBL, SAT and other devices. If the indicator flashes 6 times in step 4, a wrong Device Code has been entered. You are required to repeat step 2 to 5 again. Code search If the brand of your appliance is not in the list or none of the codes given fits, we recommend a code search. Manual code search 1. Switch on the appliance to be controlled. Program is running. 2. To prepare code search, press the required appliance button, e.g. TV, the icon will change to blue colour. 3. Press and hold down P+ and VOL- simultanously for 3 seconds until the indicator led (2) lights up. 4. Depending on to be controlled device enter search code number for: TV: 0001, VCR: 0002, SAT/DVB: 0003, CBL: 0004 or DVD: 0005. Then indicator led (2) will flash twice and turn off. 5. Press the required appliance button, e.g. TV, again. Icon will change to blue colour. 6. Press and hold down P+ and VOL- simultanously for 3 seconds until the indicator led (2) lights up. 7. Then point the remote control at the appliance to be controlled.

8. Briefly press the ON/OFF (appliance on/off) button once. The lamp (LED) blinks. When searching for a device code of a device, which has no infrared controllable ON/OFF function, then press instead of ON/OFF alone alternately ON/OFF and another important button, e.g. press > (Play) button and use the Play function to search. Make sure that a tape, a DVD or a CD is inserted in the tape deck, player or recorder. 9. Press the ON/OFF (appliance on/off) or ON/OFF & e.g. Play button alternately repeatedly, approx. every 1,5 seconds, until the appliance, e.g. your DVD player, reacts. - If you notice the reaction of your appliance too late and the next code has already been emitted you can go back by pressing P- and then ON/OFF or ON/OFF & Play again. If your appliance has switched itself off you must switch it back on again, e.g. on the appliance or with the original remote control, to continue searching. 10. When your appliance reacts correctly, press the appliance button, e.g. TV, and end the search. The lamp (LED) goes out. - The UR 5000 continues with the search at the point where you interrupted it. When the end of the code list is reached the search stops automatically. The remote control blinks quickly several times. The code last entered remains stored. The search stops after approx. 15 seconds of inactivity. DVD, CBL and other device codes can be searched and locked into any device mode except TV & VCR. Just set right search code.

Learning, Programming, of Missing Control Functions The LEARN function is used to supplement the preprogrammed codes. The standard code may provide most of functions needed, but you may miss some key functions. Or you didnt find any functioning preprogrammed code for a device, e.g. audio devices, air conditioners etc. You can capture upto 226 key function codes. The last captured function will overwrite the previous. learnt. 1 For learning of key codes you must use a functioning orginal remote controller. Please use fresh batteries for both remote controls. 2 Please point the originals remote control transmitter LED towards the receiver LED of UR 5000 (placed on top, same as transmitter LED). Distance of LEDs between both remotes shall be approximately 5080mm and must be in straight line of sight. 3 To prepare copying of key functions, press the required appliance button, e.g. DVD, icon will change to blue colour. 4 Press and hold down P+ and VOL- simultanously for 3 seconds until the indicator led (2) lights up. 5 Key-in learn code 0000 and the learn icon will light up. 6 Press and release the target key, that you want to learn to (reprogram) (e.g. POWER), the UR 5000 will peep. 7. You can access free keys, if you press Shift key (9) first. Upto 3 pages, accessable by Page key (10), are available for any device for copying original keys. Press and hold the source key on the original remote control (e.g. POWER) until the LED on your UR 5000 remote control blinks once and the device icon, e.g. DVD will flash again. That indicates that a new function code, e.g. POWER, has been learnt. 8 Repeat steps 6 to 7 for capturing more key functions. - If there is a learning(capturing) problem, the LED blinks 6 times. Then adjust the position of both

remote controls and start capturing the key function again at step 6. 9 Press and release device key for exit of learning mode. The controller will exit the learning mode automatically after about 15 seconds of inactivity. In case a copied key operates occasionally only, please try the following modified method: 1. Please follow steps 1 to 5 as explained above. 2. Press and release the target key, that you want to learn to (reprogram) (e.g. POWER), the UR 5000 will peep. 3. Press and hold the source key on the original remote control (e.g. POWER) until the LED on your UR 5000 remote control blinks once and the device icon, e.g. DVD will flash again. 4. Press and release the same UR 5000 target key again for repeated learning. The Device Key icon (e.g. DVD icon) will stop flashing. 5. Press and hold the same source key on the original remote control (e.g. POWER) until the LED on your UR 5000 remote control blinks once and the device icon, e.g. DVD, will flash once again. That indicates that a new function code, e.g. POWER, has been learnt. 6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 of this procedure to copy further keys, if needed. 7. Press and release device key for exit of learning mode. Reset/deletion of all captured key functions per device: Entering a new pre-programmed Device Code, see above Direct control code entry using the enclosed list, will automatically erase and replace all learned commands in the chosen device mode. If you enter Memory full indication: if the memory is full, the LED (2) blinks 3 times and then press and release device key to exit learning mode. Operation You operate your appliances basically in

exactly the same way as if you were using the original remote controls, except that you must first press an appliance button (TV, DVD, etc.) to control the required appliance. As the symbols on the UR 5000 could differ from those on the original remote controls you may have to try out all the buttons in order to find the functions. The hard keys (4) can be used directly, while the touch screen keys fall asleep after 15 s of inactivity, in order to save energy. You can either touch the touch screen or any hard key (4) to wake them up. Page: In order to find more keys per device, please press Page key (10), then the next key group is displayed. Shift: If you have copied (learned) keys on Shift page keys, then you have to press Shift (9) and Page (10) again in order to find and use the copied keys. Special settings and functions Punch Through: Volume and mute keys are always controlling the TV set, unless you copied learned original keys for one or more devices on them. Learned keys have priority. Smart Action Keys (Macros) UR 5000 comes with 6 programmable SMART Action programs (Macros), each with a maximum of 20 key steps. By SMART Macro keys, you can program key sequences with time delays, simply by a pressing a SMART key. Program a Smart Action Key 1. Hold down P+ & VOL- together simultaneously for 3 seconds until the led indicator (2) lights up. 2. Enter to number: 0 9. The SMART icon will turn on. 3. Select a desired Smart key. (e.g. Smart 1). The led indicator (2) lights up. - Smart keys1,2,3 are directly accessible, for 3 further Smart Action keys Shift and then Smart 1, 2 or 3 must be pressed. 4. Then press a sequence of keys, which shall be output later, when you press Smart 1 ,2 or 3 etc. E.g. TV, POWER, DVD, POWER,

SAT, POWER for all devices power off. The led (2) indicator will flash once for each key. Press and hold a key longer, if you want to extend its transmission period (max up to 60 seconds). 5. Repeat step 4 until you have finished key input of the whole sequence and press the same Smart key (e.g. Smart 1). The SMART(Macro) program will be stored. 6. To program another Smart Action Key, repeat the steps 1 to 5 above. Activate a a Smart Action 1. Aim your remote at your equipment. 2. Press and release the right programmed Smart Action (Macro) key. (e.g. Smart 1 or e.g. Shift and then Smart 3). The corresponding Smart icon (3) and the led indicator (2) will blink during transmission of signals. Achten Sie auf die angegebenen Polaritten auf Batterien und im Batteriefach (+=+), und schlieen Sie das Fach wieder vorsichtig. Bitte achten Sie darauf, immer einwandfreie Batterien zu verwenden.
