There are less than 2500 VW Type 34 (T34) Karmann Ghias in the world today of the original 43,505 built from 1962-69. In their day the T34 was the most luxurious, most expensive, and fastest model in the VW family. Styled by Carrozzeria Ghia in Italy, built by Wilhelm Karmann Coachwerks in Germany, and distributed by Volkswagen the T34 is one of the rarest models today. The majority are rusting away, forgotten, disassembled, or in long-term storage with no plans for restoration. With the 50th Anniversary of the T34 quickly approaching in September 2011 there is a growing movement to coordinate the T34 owners of the world and to focus efforts on restoring these rare vintage Volkswagens. T34 World is a new worldwide organization for all T34 owners and enthusiasts. Its goals are Registration (finding the surviving T34s), Communication (helping owners around the world find information), Restoration, and Preservation. An international team of 30 serious T34 owners in 15 countries has been formed to assist T34 owners and get more T34s back on the road. The time is now to bring the worlds T34 owners together with one vision to preserve this special marque into history, says Lee Hedges, founder and 25-year T34 expert based in San Diego, California USA. T34s are unique Type 3 models that are extremely difficult to restore accurately due to the lack of quality survivors, lack of reproduction parts, and a propensity to rust. But when brought back to life their controversial Italian styling, excellent road handling behavior, and sporting character is so much fun to drive and share with others. T34 World will help owners get restoration advice, learn where to find parts sources, share photos & experiences, connect with other T34 owners in their area, & learn about the interesting history of the T34. The organization has a comprehensive web site, discussion forum, instant email discussion group, quarterly PDF magazine, and best of all its completely free to everyone. Over the years, I have received inquiries regarding the proper wiring of the Hazard (Emergency) Light Switch installed on various VW models. The purpose of this PDF is to consolidate the answers to those inquires and provide proper wiring instructions so that you can have Hazard Lights that actually work.
