November 29, 2010 San Jose Christian School supports San Jose Family Shelter A PROJECT FOR GIFTS AND GIVING PRESCHOOL 4TH GRADE
This year we have committed to provide items to San Jose Family Shelter for the Christmas Shoppe. The Shoppe provides families living at the shelter a chance to pick out some basic needs for their family and to have a gift to give family members to bring a smile and to lift or renew their spirit.

ON GIFTS & GIVING

A real gift costs something to give. For something to count as a gift, the person who gives it has to sacrifice something time, money, talent. Christmas is a wonderful opportunity to teach our children the joy of giving and how to give.
SAN JOSE FAMILY SHELTER WISH LIST
The list of needed items for adults and children is on the reverse side. Please do not wrap these gifts. Gifts should be new and in the original store wrapping. The items can be brought to your students classroom by Monday, December 13th. The 4th grade will deliver the gifts to the San Jose Family Shelter on Wednesday, December 16th.
MORE ON SAN JOSE FAMILY SHELTER
The mission of the San Jose Family Shelter is to support and empower homeless families in Santa Clara County on their path to self-sufficient living. Located in San Jose at 1590 Las Plumas Avenue, this shelter offers a safe place for 35 families in distress for up to 90 days. The shelter is unique because it is able to accommodate intact families, including two-parent families and one-parent families with children. Up to 150 people are served every day. Around 90 of these residents are children -- the majority under 10 years of age. San Jose Family Shelter is committed to keeping families together during their time of crisis. In addition to food and shelter, intensive case management and other supportive services are available to facilitate the family in obtaining and retaining permanent housing.
