Simultaneous Drills/length specific Simultaneous drills with fixed stop serve to precisely prepare the implant bed. They are color coded on the shaft center part and indicate the length of the cutting depth. In order to guarantee the optimal osseointegration, they perform a standardized bore shaft adjusted to the length and diameter of the corresponding implant body. The simultaneous drills are slightly undersized, enabling the self-tapping property of the Pitt-Easy implant concept to become effective. The thread profile of the drills favors the conserving of vital bone. Simultaneous drills have an additional length of 1 mm above the graduation-mark as compared to the corresponding implant.

Open or closed impression
Owing to its flattened side and its horizontal and vertical grooves (version for closed impression) the titanium impression coping is secure against rotation and guarantees optimal repositioning. In the case of a subgingival implant restoration, the healing abutment can be used to form the tissue. If a two-stage surgical option is chosen, the implant can be uncovered prior to the end of the healing process and the healing abutment can be inserted. After two or more weeks, the soft tissue is healed and an impression can be taken. For impression taking, the healing abutment is removed and the impression coping is screwed into the implant with the hex driver. To facilitate repositioning in the impression and to permit control by the laboratory technician after fabrication of the model, the flat side of the impression coping should be placed into the implant labially or vestibularly before the impression is made. For taking impressions only individual impression trays should be used. The decision as to whether a closed or an open impression method should be used is dependent on the parallelism, number, and angulation of the implants. In the case of a pro-nounced lack of parallelism (also in relation to the remaining teeth) an open impression is recommended.

Esthetic Temporary Abutments
Esthetic Temporary Abutment Esthetic Temporary Abutment The Esthetic Temporary Abutment (formerly A.G.T. Abutment) is used for post-operative gingival moulding, and at the same time for initiating esthetic temporary treatment. Its design is preconstructed with an anatomical gingival shoulder. The abutment is made of a tooth-coloured acrylic material and, like the final titanium or ceramic abutment which can be selected later, can be fastened precisely with a retaining screw to prevent rotation. It is used for the fabrication of a temporary crown and should only remain in the mouth until the gingiva has healed. Temporary cement can be used for cementation. After healing and formation of the papillae, the temporary crown is easily removed by loosening the retaining screw along with this abutment.
Retaining screw can be shortened up to the marking

These titanium anti-rotation Esthetic abutments show several advantages. The most important feature is the circular, groovelike shoulder which is lower in the buccal area for esthetics and slightly ascends with an elegant swing towards the lingual. This enables the technician to prepare an exact, clearly defined crown margin. The subgingival design of the Esthetic abutments allows individual adjustment to the gingiva contour as well as an adjustment to the anatomical direction of the tooth. This is especially required for small incisors in order to compensate the high standard of red esthetics. The internal design of the abutment was advanced so that the outer shape of the abutment remains slim, which is of considerable advantage for the design of narrow incisors. We recommend the use of special titanium drills for the trimming of the Esthetic abutments. Horizontal threads can be individually placed for transversal screw fixation. The retaining screw is secured by an additional internal thread system to avoid losing the screw or mistaking it for another. For cleaning purposes, the retaining screw can be unscrewed from the abutment, if necessary. Please note: At the time of the implant insertion the abutment position of Version A or B should be taken into consideration (flat side/ version A or corner/version B showing towards labial/buccal). The final trial is made with the original abutment or with a trial abutment (see page 20). The Esthetic abutment is excellently suitable as basis for cementing primary parts in the technique of telescopes and conical crowns. The design of the Esthetic abutment enables the technician to meet and exceed the high demands of function and esthetics of todays implant prosthetics.

The C.A.S. Novobase abutment is a cast-on version. The base consists of machined goldplatinum, so that all precious metal alloys can be used for a cast-on method. The CNC-drilled connection part to the implant guarantees an absolutely precise fit. The upper part is made of a castable acrylic. For direct porcelain application, the use of a ceramic alloy is essential. The abutments can be shortened, individually modelled and also angulated. Note: If the complete height of the shaft is used, the long hex driver should be used (Item No. 90623). With the individual abutments we have created abutments for which the primary parts for the telescopic or conus crown technique can be drilled from the full material. All implant analogs can be provided with the abutments corresponding to the diameters. The individual abutments are ideally suitable also for the preparation of individual angulated abutments, for instance if a abutment is required which should have another angulation than 0, 15 or 25. Also, in case a special gingiva contour requires a circular shoulder which cannot be prepared from a confectioned abutment, this solid individual abutment can be used. The crown or bridge construction can be cemented or individually screwed to this ndividual abutment. i By means of direct veneering with titanium ceramic material individual ceramic abutments or directly screw-retained crowns can be fabricated. For trimming of the individual abutment on the model the laboratory screws are provided. These have a circular marking at the screw shaft and should be used during the lab procedure. The retaining screws are used for final fixation of the prosthetic construction in the mouth. We recommend the use of titanium drills. When planning a telescoping construction on implants or implants in combination with natural teeth, please pay attention to the construction's static safety, i.e. distal support.

Paracentric Abutments Item No. mm
Paracentric Line is especially designed for bar structures with diverging abutments. This unique system provides the opportunity to use screw-retained superstructures with easy compensation of divergencies. The Paracentric Line consists of three parts: permucosal extension, bar connection element, and retaining screw. The titanium permucosal extension with hexagonal base fits precisely into the implant bodys hexagonal socket. The

different heights of the permucosal extensions compensate the varying thickness of the mucosa. The bar element is available either in acrylic, precious metal, castable alloy, or titanium. Since the hex provides primary stability to the permucosal extension and the bar element is being stabilised through the cone, the forces applied to the bar construction are diverted from the retaining screw and prevent loosening and fracture.

AUSTEMPERED DUCTILE IRON IN ZANARDI FONDERIE S.P.A. Zanardi Fonderie is a family Company, situated in Italy, near Verona, that has started producing ADI in 1982. Right from the start, it has realized that the ADI market would successfully develop only by getting our austempered castings through our customers machining shops without any hold-ups. Our experience with ADI (and its future) dominated our investment strategy since 1995. We have concentrated all our processes in one plant, from engineering design to ADI heat treatments, painting and machining. We currently produce 10,000 tons/year of ADI castings which are all machined after heat treatment, as well as ADI 1400 grade, with hardness up to 480 HB. Heat treatment is performed by using three AFCHolcroft UBQA 36x72x36 furnaces, each one of them equipped with 50 ton nitrite/nitrate salt bath and an endothermic gas atmosphere. WHATS ADI Austempered ductile cast irons are spheroidal graphite cast irons which combine higher strength and toughness properties as the result of a special heat treatment. This heat treatment, which is an integral part of the production process, consists of an austenitizing treatment at a temperature between 820C and 950C and an austempering treatment in the temperature range between 250C and 400C to form a predominantly austenitic-ferritic structure. Depending on casting thickness and required material grade, some alloying elements such as Ni, Mo, Cu are added to the basic chemical analysis. The method of manufacturing austempered ductile iron as well as its chemical composition and heat treatment, unless specified by the purchaser, shall be left to the discretion of the manufacturer. Heat treatment parameters and chemical composition have to be chosen as a function of casting size (relevant wall thickness) and required grade.

tion hardening. The wear resistance is the same through the entire thickness on the part, and not only on a superficial layer. ADI PRODUCTION IN ITALY MACHINING Machinability has been the primary issue for the development of ADI material at Zanardi Fonderie. Firstly, grades ADI 750, 800, 900 and 1050 Mpa have been developed. High strength grades ADI 1200, 1400, 1600 Mpa are now proposed to engineers, with competitive opportunities for machining, integrated in the manufacturing process. ADI 1400 has poor machinability and within the current state of the art, ADI 1600 is not machinable. For these high hardness grades (which are machined prior to heat treatment) dimensional accuracy and repeatability after heat treatment is required. That repeatability is accomplished through rigorous process control of the casting and heat treating processes. APPLICATIONS GALLERY ADI - 900 and IDI have been particularly developed for truck suspension parts, power transmission components, axles components, fork lifts components, truck crane components. These grades offer an excellent machinability.

Zanardi Fonderie S.p.a. has developed other grades of ADI not mentioned in the normative, oriented to optimize machinability (ADI750) , wear resistance, fatigue resistance. Detailed information on each material grade, listing a complete range of mechanical properties (e.g. impact resistance, fatigue resistance, etc.), and showing data based on normative, literature, and our experience, are available under request. During last years, Zanardi has developed other two special grades of ADI: IDI and ADIWR. IDI stands for Isothermal Ductile Iron, it is a intermediate grade between ADI800-10 and GGG70, IDI offers a better machinability and impact resistance than a Perlitic Ductile Iron, with the same fatigue limit. ADI WR stands for ADI Wear Resistant, is the suitable grade when the superior wear resistance is required, moreover ADIWR can offer a better impact resistance than more common Cr-Hard and Ni-Hard. FEATURES OF ADI As shown above, the mechanical properties of ADI are comparable to the mechanical properties of tempered steel. In addition, the following remarkable advantages of the ADI technology give a quality alternative opportunity for a wide range of applications: LIGHTNESS Being the specific weight of ADI the same as cast iron (7,1 Kg/dm^3), a real, immediate saving of about 10% weight compared to steel is possible, through keeping the same geometry of the component. MORE COMPLEX AND MORE COMPACTED SHAPES The casting technology of ADI is the same as the one of conventional cast irons. Cast irons show a lower shrinkage tendency and a higher range between melting and solidification temperature compared to casted steel. Those two characteristics allow to gain quality parts even in presence of complex geometries. Moreover, this capability give more freedom to the designers, in order to design components with high mechanical performances in one unique casting instead of several welded parts, avoiding this way welding operation, and obtaining a part with no weak points due to material discontinuity. NOISE REDUCTION The presence of graphite and the ausferritic structure have a vibration-damping effect, with the desirable result of an overall noise reduction. WEAR RESISTANCE The ausferritic structure gives the material a high wear resistance, which allows to avoid treatments like surface induc-

BUSINESS CASE: AUTOMOTIVE CRANKSHAFT IN ADI Recently, a new Diesel engine hollow crankshaft and suspension components for passengers vehicles have been engineered. These kinds of applications should be designed in grades up to ADI 1050 Mpa, choosing the best compromise between fatigue performances and machining cost. The Diesel engine hollow crankshaft has been developed inside a Craft Project called ADISYNERGY, funded by the European Union.
AUTOMOTIVE DIESEL ENGINE CRANKSHAFT substitution of forgings
Both lost foam and traditional green sand molding processes, with material grades ranging between 800 and 1000 Mpa UTS, have been tested in the project. The target was the substitution of a crankshaft for 1.3 liters Diesel engine, actually manufactured in 38MnSiVS6 micro alloyed forged steel. No induction hardening for wear resistance has been found to be necessary, due to the good tribological performances achieved with ADI. A strong influence on the fatigue behavior is given by rolling treatment performed on journal and pin radius. Since the residual stresses due to the machining are usually tensile, the rolling treatment is very effective, due to the accomplishment of compression residual stress on the radius surfaces which increases heavily the crank fatigue performances. The ratio between the bending moment with and without rolling treatment, for failure at 106 cycles, has been found to be in the range of 3. ADI vs 38MnSiVS6 micro alloyed forged steel The original micro alloyed steel forging weights from 15 to 16 kg before machining and 12.8 kg after machining. The ADI casting, with the same external surface and internally holed, weights 11 kg before machining and 9.4 kg after machining. Thus, economical analysis should consider: - a reduction in the final weight of 27% - no need of surface heat treatments - 41% less metal to be removed by machining - constant dimensions of the raw parts arriving to the machining operations - opportunity to perform some pre-machining operations during fettling, before austempering
The Palmieri Tools Forging S.r.l. Company was founded in 1908 and it has more than 100 years of experience in its sector. Our Company currently consists of four manufacturing departments: Our time-honoured Forging Department, where the transformation of the steel from bars or billets into variously shaped and sized parts takes place. This department comprises 4 production lines consisting of induction furnaces, hydraulic preforming presses, forging hammers and cutting presses. Items manufactured in this department range from 10-15 Kgs up to 100 Kgs and they are used in a variety of different fields, such as construction-site industrial vehicles, transmissions, drilling rigs and many others; they range from shafts and crowns for gearboxes to profiled parts manufactured with the aid of our hammers. In this department we also manufacture safety parts (like steering levers, container spreaders, etc.) which require special production cycles, alternated by on-line quality controls during the entire process, aiming at totally eliminate the possible manufacturing of defective parts. In 2010 we have started a new Forging Department where the following lines are present: A Forging Line consisting of a methane-fired furnace and a hydraulic press (5000 Tons) for parts from 100 up to 400 Kgs (wreaths, pinions, flanges, bushings, hubs, valves, etc.); A Forging Line consisting of induction/ methane-fired furnace and a Bch counterblow hammer (40000 Kgm); A dedicated Forging Line for flanged and pinion shafts from 80 to 300 Kgs consisting of induction furnace, preforming press, forging hammer and cutting press; A Circular Rolling Line for rings from 300 to to 3000 mm (under construction). The Heat Treatment Department, fully computerized, is where the rough elements coming from the Forging Department is treated before being machined in the workshop. This allows us to noticeably shorten the lead time and therefore the delivery of the goods. The heat treatments we perform are normalizing, stress relieving treatment, quenching and tempering, isothermal annealing. Lastly, the Mechanical Workshop is specialized in machining items precisely by using our modern equipments such as CNC lathes, machining centres and gear hobbing machines thus offering the customer semi-finished or totally finished items ready for mounting. The possibility to perform both in-house heat treatment and machining is considered to be a remarkable advantage by a large number of customers of ours, such as BONFIGLIOLI RIDUTTORI Group S.p.A., BONFIGLIOLI RIDUTTORI Trasmital Division S.p.A., ASTRA VEICOLI INDUSTRIALI S.p.A. TECSYSTEM has set itself these questions at the beginning of this decade, and it has been working during the past two years to find the right answer. For example TECSYSTEM brought an easy concept like Wireless in the world of thermal control of electric machines. If any consumer equipment does not need anymore the connecting cables, why temperature sensors should have them? Moreover the benefits are not only related to the elimination of installations time and cost! As a matter of fact, the sensor connecting cable is an antenna for electromagnetic noises, which are the natural habitat of power transformers and electric motors. The Wireless technology works at 2.4Ghz: more than the highest frequency harmonics in the network. This frequency allows a significant increasing of immunity to electromagnetic noises, TECSYSTEM generated by the NW2004/NW2008 UNIT power electrical machines, compared to the traditional connection cables. Safety utilities is another important concept in 2011. The RTD (Resistive Thermal Devices) temperature sensors are usually placed in contact with the measuring point. For example, we can think to a MV/LV cast resin transformer, with the sensor directly inserted into the LV winding. Whats happen if the secondary is not in LV, and neither 3kV or 10kV? And if is it 20kV? In order to remove completely the risk of electric shock, TECSYSTEM has adopted an ingenious solution: an infrared temperature sensor, able to monitoring temperature without being in contact with the measuring point! TECSYSTEM This sensor, NT935-IR UNIT specifically developed for this INFRARED SENSOR application, can TIR409 be mounted at an appropriate safe distance (10- 20-30cm), which is appropriated with the different voltage values of the monitored electrical machine. Lets think about the difference between an old telephone cabin and a modern Iphone now: both efficiently, they do their primary function (telephonic calls), but how many advantages have been introduced by modern technology on mobile phones? The advantages of the electronics are in the infinite possibilities to assist and improve what already exists. The ideas to monitor the temperature of the dielectric oil of a transformer, or its level, or any increase of pressure inside the tank, has been already successfully applied for years, but why dont we use a single instrument, completely electronic? This was the real idea that allowed us to develop the TPL system: a unique instrument, which performs the same basic functions already performed by other mechanical instruments, all in a compact electronic device thousands of times more flexible!

High Performance CANopen I/O System Z-PC line CANopen is a complete I/O system with CANopen standard interface that does not require any couplers, controllers, or repeaters. All I/O modules have a built-in interface with CANopen communication, speeds up to 1 Mbps, ideal for acquisition and control signals for systems and machines where the distance between signals plays a key role. The benefit of not needing a fine line coupler reduces the cost for small-medium installations, operator machines, distributed plants. Main features of the system are: switching power supply 19.28 Vac / 10.40 Vdc on the same hardware, galvanic isolation up to 1.5 kVac (3 to 6-way), availability of analog inputs with very high accuracy (0.01.005%) with the option of power up to 8 sensors and response times for single-channel less than 20 ms. Z-PC Line CANopen I/O System also gets backplane for power supply and wiring besides basic configuration by DIP-switches pr plug&play software. The I/O range include digital modules with 24 channels density, analog modules and temperature and load cell sensors input modules. All the EDS configuration file (Electronic Datasheet) are available on SENECA website. The I/O modules can be integrated with configurator and Master controllers / network manager of third parts, also on active machines and installations and can be programmed by CoDeSys. Three are supported standards: CiA 401 rel. 2.1 (I/O profile), CANopen: CiA 301 rel. 4.0.2 (CANopen), CiA 303 (cabling & led).
ELECTRONIC MANIPULATORS MLE SERIES Reduced production time very often results from a cut in the time of moving pieces from one place to another. Of paramount importance has also become the flexibility of the system, i.e. the possibility to turn out pieces of relatively different kind. The answer to these needs is the series of the new electronic linear manipulators MLE, fast, programmable, reliable. These units are ready to set up, both from the mechanical and the electronic standpoint, and easy to use. These manipulators are mechatronic units powered by linear motors, so by electric motors where rotor and stator are not rolled up (picture n1), but unrolled (picture n2), and generate a linear force instead of a torque. Contrary to the mechanical manipulators, motion is not transmitted by cams or mechanical gears, but by induced electromagnetic forces; thus also the mechanical wear is close to nil. MLE series is powered by LSM (Linear Synchronous Motor), todays ultimate for automatic machines. Control and feeding systems are very simple and, just like the ones for the rotary brushless motor, considered an industrial standard. On the top of it, the standard of thrust and stroke and the accuracy of these motors answer the specific needs of the automatic machines very well. The position control is ensured by very sophisticated systems, the best ones when repeatability and positioning are at a stake. To be underlined also the easy communication of MLE series with the outside. Its control system is open to all existing available field bus, including the most modern communication protocols based on Ethernet, commonly used in local networks. Besides, Autorotor system comes with the fastest and most performing field bus: EtherCAT, the Ethernet to control the automation technology. It is an open source, high performance communication protocol, which uses Ethernet protocol in an industrial environment. Also MLE system programming is open to the most common standards and, more specifically, to the programming languages for automation (as per standard IEC 6-1131) ADVANTAGES Lower power consumption than pneumatic systems Very compact body Extremely fast Easy to install Constant monitoring of positions, forces of process and speed No wear, low maintenance Programming software open to international standards Can use any fieldbus Flexible Manipulations devices are easy to install both from a mechanical and electronic standpoint. Manipulators come with standard connections to handle power and position.
