General safety
Repairs to the machine must be carried out by a qualified technician. Repairs carried out by inexperience tradesmen, could cause serious danger. Contact your local Service Centre. Never pull the power supply cable when removing the plug from the socket; always take hold of the plug. During high temperature wash programs the door glass may get hot. Do not touch it!
This appliance is designed for domestic use. It must not be used for purposes other than those for which it was designed. Only wash fabrics which are designed to be machine washed. Follow the instructions on each garment label. Do not overload the appliance. Follow the instructions in the instruction book. Make sure that all pockets are empty. Objects such as coins, safety pins, pins and screws can cause extensive damage. Do not machine wash garments saturated with petroleum, methylated spirits, trichlorethylene, etc. If such fluids have been used to remove stains prior to washing, wait until they have completely evaporated from the fabric before placing garments in the washing machine.
Child safety
This washing machine is not intended for use by young children or infirm persons without supervision. Young children should be supervised at all times, ensuring they do not play with the appliance. Packaging components (e.g. plastic film, polystyrene) can cause suffocation, and can be dangerous to children. Keep them out of children's reach. Keep all detergents in a safe place out of childrens reach. When discarding the appliance, cut the electrical supply cable and destroy the plug with the remaining cable. Disable the door catch in order to prevent young children from becoming trapped inside the machine while playing.
Make sure children or pets do not climb into the drum. To avoid this the machine incorporates a safety device. To activate this device, rotate the button (without pressing) inside the door clockwise until the groove is horizontal. If necessary use a coin.

Tips for environmental protection
To save water, energy and to help protect the environment, we recommend you follow these tips: Normally soiled laundry may be washed without prewashing in order to save detergent, water and time (the environment is protected too!). The machine works more economically if it is fully loaded. With adequate pre treatment, lightly soiled stains can be removed, the laundry wash load can then be washed at a lower temperature. Measure the detergent according to water hardness, the degree of soiling, and the quantity of laundry being washed.
Option buttons
Depending on the program different functions can be combined. Functions must be selected after choosing the desired program, and before depressing the START/PAUSE button. When these buttons are pressed, the corresponding pilots lights come on. When they are pressed again, lights go out. If an incorrect option is selected, the pilot light flashes for 2 seconds and the message Err is displayed. 8
6 RINSE HOLD button
When selecting Rinse Hold, the machine will not drain the water of the last rinse to prevent wrinkles. The relevant light illuminates and will stay on during washing. At the end of the cycle, the RINSE HOLD option and the RINSE HOLDING pilot light are on, the START/PAUSE button light goes out and the door is locked to indicate the water must be drained. A blinking zero will appear on the display.
To complete the cycle there are two possibilities to choose from: Select the DRAIN program : the water is emptied out without spinning. Select SPIN or DELICATE SPIN programs. Select the spin speed by means of the relevant button and then depress the START/PAUSE button. The water is drained and garments spun to the selected spin speed.
9 TIME SELECTING / REMAINING (Display)
The display shows the following information: Cancelling Duration of the program Delayed start Incorrect option selection Alarm code End of program. Cancelling If a program has been cancelled (the program dial is on OFF position, all the lights and the display will turned off. Duration of the selected program After selecting a program, the duration is displayed in hours and minutes (for example 2.05).
Attention! Before selecting program DRAIN, SPIN or DELICATE SPIN, the selector dial has to be positioned on OFF.
7 SUPER RINSE button
This option can be selected with all programs, except the wool program. The machine will add 2 rinses to the selected program. This option is recommended for people who are allergic to detergents, and areas where the water is very soft.
8 DELAY START button
The wash program can be delayed for 30min - 60min - 90min, 2 hours and then by one hour up to a maximum of 23 hours by pressing the DELAY START button. Selecting delay start Select the program and the required options. Select delay start. Depress START/PAUSE button: the machine starts its hourly countdown. The program starts once the selected delay start has expired. Cancelling delay start Depress START/PAUSE button. Depress the DELAY START button until the symbol 0 is displayed. Depress the START/PAUSE button again to restart the program. Important You can alter delay start at any moment, before you press START/PAUSE button. If you have already depressed the START/PAUSE button, the delay start can be changed after selecting the wash program again.
The duration is calculated automatically on the basis of the maximum recommended load for each type of fabric. After the program has started, the time remaining is updated every minute. Delayed start The selected delay (23 hours max) appears on the display for 3 seconds, then the duration of the previous program is displayed. The count down is updated every hour.
Incorrect option selection If an option which is not compatible with the set wash program is selected, the message Err is displayed for 2 seconds.

Washing hints
Sorting the laundry
Follow the wash code symbols on each garment label and the manufacturers washing instructions. Sort the laundry as follows: whites, colours, synthetics, delicates, woollens.
Maximum loads
Recommended loads are indicated in the program charts. General rules: Cotton, linen: drum full but not too tightly packed; Synthetics: drum no more than half full; Delicate fabrics and woollens: drum no more than one third full. Washing a maximum load makes the most efficient use of water and energy. For heavily soiled laundry, reduce the load size.
Temperatures 90-95 for normally soiled white cottons and linen
(e.g. tea cloths, towels, tablecloths, sheets.)
for normally soiled, colour fast garments (e.g. shirts, night dresses, pyjamas.) in linen, cotton or synthetic fibres and for lightly soiled white cotton (e.g. underwear).
Laundry weights
The following weights are indicative: bathrobe napkin quilt cover sheet pillow case tablecloth towelling towel tea cloth night dress ladies briefs mens work shirt mens shirt mens pyjamas blouse mens underpants 1200 g 100 g 700 g 500 g 200 g 250 g 200 g 100 g 200 g 100 g 600 g 200 g 500 g 100 g 100 g
Cold for delicate items (e.g. net curtains), mixed 30-40 laundry including synthetic fibres and
woollens. The wool wash cycle of this machine has been approved by Woolmark for the washing of machine washable Woolmark products provided that the garments are washed according to the instructions on the garment label and those issued by the manufacturer of this washing machine. Licence No. M9604.
Before loading the laundry
Never wash whites and colours together. Whites may lose their "whiteness" in the wash. New colour items may run in the first wash, they should therefore be washed separate the first time. Make sure no metal objects are left in the laundry (e.g. hair clips, safety pins, pins). Button up pillowcases, close zip fasteners, hooks and poppers. Tie any belts or long tapes. Remove persistent stains before washing. Rub particularly soiled areas with a special detergent or detergent paste. Treat curtains with special care. Remove hooks or tie them up in a bag or net.
Detergents and additives
Good washing results also depends on the choice of detergent and use of the correct quantities to avoid waste and protect the environment. Although biodegradable, detergents contain substances which, in large quantities, can upset the delicate balance of nature. The choice of detergent will depend on the type of fabric (delicates, woollens, cottons, etc.), the colour fastness, washing temperature and degree of soiling. All commonly available washing machine detergents may be used in this appliance: powder detergents for all types of fabric, powder detergents for delicate fabrics (60C max) and woollens, The detergent and any additives must be placed in the appropriate compartments of the dispenser drawer before starting the wash program.
Operating sequence
Before the first wash we recommend that you pour 2 litres of water into the main wash compartment of the detergent drawer in order to activate the ECO valve. Then run a cotton cycle at 60C, with the machine empty, in order to remove any manufacturing residue from the drum and tub. Pour half a measure of detergent into the main wash compartment and start up the machine.
4. Switch the machine on
Turn the selector dial to the desired program to switch the appliance on. To switch the appliance off turn it to OFF.

2. Measure out the detergent
Pull out the dispenser drawer until it stops. Measure out the amount of detergent recommended by the manufacturer in a graduated cup and pour it into the main wash compartment. If you wish to carry out a program with prewash, pour detergent into the appropriate compartment marked. Please do not use liquid detergent with this appliance except if placed in the dosage ball/device & at the back of the machine drum.
CLEAN FILTER END
The duration of the program appears in the display.
6. Select the spin speed or NO SPIN option
10. Altering a program

Before any maintenance or cleaning is carried out you must DISCONNECT the appliance from the electricity supply.
After a while, detergents and fabric softeners leave deposits in the drawer. Inspect the drawer regularly. To remove the drawer from the machine, press the button in the rear left-hand corner.
After each wash
Leave the door open for a while. This helps to prevent mould and stagnant smells forming inside the appliance. Keep the door open after a wash will also help to preserve the door seal.
Maintenance Wash
Low temperature washes can cause the build up of residue inside the drum. We recommend a maintenance wash be preformed on a regular basis. To run a maintenance wash:
To facilitate cleaning, the top part of the additive compartment can be removed.
The drum should be empty of laundry. Select the hottest cotton wash program. Use a normal measure of detergent which must be powder.
Door seal
From time to time check the door seal to eliminate objects trapped in the fold.
Clean the drawer by rinsing it under a running tap.
C0068S
Cabinet
Clean the outside of the washing machine with warm water and dish detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth. Important: do not use methylated spirits, solvents or similar products to clean the bodywork.
Detergent can also accumulate inside the drawer recess: clean it with an old toothbrush. Refit the drawer after cleaning.
Drain pump
The pump should be inspected if the machine does not empty and/or spin the machine makes an unusual noise during draining due to objects such as safety pins, coins etc. blocking the pump. Proceed as follows: Disconnect the appliance. If necessary wait until the water has cooled down. Open the pump door.
Put the cap back on the emergency emptying hose and place the latter back in its seat.
Screw the pump guard fully in. Close the pump door. Important! Every time you drain the water through the emergency emptying hose you must pour 2 litres of water into the main wash compartment of the detergent drawer and then run the drain program. This will activate the ECO valve avoiding that part of the detergent remains unused for the next washing.
Place a container close to the pump to collect any spillage. Release the emergency emptying hose, place it in the container and remove its cap. When no more water comes out, unscrew the pump guard and remove it. Always keep a rag nearby to dry up spillage of water when removing the pump guard.
Water inlet filter
If you notice that the machine is taking longer to fill, check that the filter in the water inlet hose is not blocked. Turn off the water tap. Unscrew the hose from the tap. Clean the filter with a stiff brush. Screw the hose back onto the tap.
Problem The machine does not start up:
Possible cause
The door is not firmly closed. (E40) The machine is not plugged in or there is no power at the socket. The main fuse blown. The START PAUSE button has not been depressed. The DELAY START option has been selected. The water tap is closed. (E10) The inlet hose is squashed or kinked. (E10) The filter in the inlet hose is blocked. (E10) The door is not properly closed. (E40)
The machine does not fill:
The machine fills then empties
immediately:
The end of the drain hose is too low. Refer to relevant paragraph in water drainage section. The drain hose is squashed or kinked. (E20) The RINSE HOLD option has been selected. The drain pump is clogged. (E20) The NO SPIN option has been selected.
The machine does not empty and/or
does not spin:
There is water on the floor:
Too much detergent or unsuitable detergent (creates too much foam) has been used. Check whether there are any leaks from one of the inlet hose fittings. It is not always easy to see this as the water runs down the hose; check to see if it is damp. The drain hose is damaged. The pump guard has not been fully screwed in. The cap on the emergency emptying hose has not been replaced after cleaning the pump.
Unsatisfactory washing results:
Too little detergent or unsuitable detergent has been used. Stubborn stains have not been treated prior to washing. The correct program / temperature was not selected. Excessive laundry load. The transit bolts and packing have not been removed. The support feet have not been adjusted. The laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. Maybe there is very little laundry in the drum. 22
The machine vibrates or is noisy:
Problem
The door will not open:
The program is still running, the drum is turning. The door lock has not yet released. The water level is above the bottom edge of the door. The machine is heating the water.
Spinning starts late or the laundry is not spun enough:
The electronic unbalance detection device has cut in because the laundry is not evenly distributed in the drum. The laundry is redistributed by reverse rotation of the drum. This may happen several times before the unbalance disappears and normal spinning can resume. If, after few minutes, the laundry is still not evenly distributed in the drum, the machine will spin at a lower speed or will not spin. If at the end of the program the laundry is not spun enough, redistribute the load manually and select the spin program. Machines based on modern technology operate very economically using very little water without affecting performance. The machine is fitted with a type of motor which makes an unusual noise compared with other traditional motors. This new motor ensures a softer start and more even distribution of the laundry in the drum when spinning, as well as increased stability of the machine.
No water is visible in the drum
The machine makes an unusual noise

a world of leading features designed with you in mind washers
AAAA water rating The agitator action and rinse systems on the top load washers have been optimised to deliver AAAA water conservation ratings. Only Westinghouse can offer you this type of wash performance across all top load washers, saving you and the environment on excessive use of water. Agitator wash action Our proven top load wash agitator system gives an even wash to the entire load. It is gentler on clothes than other top load systems and helps to prevent tangling during the wash cycle. Variable spin speeds Different fabrics require different spin speeds and this is why you will find up to 4 spin speed options on the Westinghouse range of top load washers. Appropriate spin speeds are automatically selected for wool, delicates and regular fabrics, whilst our high spin option will spin out to 900 rpm to save you that extra drying time. Glass Window A practical feature on our top load models is the sturdy toughened glass window. Now you can monitor the wash during the cycle without lifting the lid and interrupting the wash program. Whilst observing the wash cycle in action you can even change settings to further optimise wash results. Its easy to care for your clothes when you can see exactly what is going on. Detergent dispensing drawer Suitable for both powder and liquid detergents. The dispensing drawer lets you add detergent and softener to the wash load in a controlled manner. No longer will undiluted detergents come into direct contact with your clothes, whilst giving a thorough distribution of detergent throughout the wash load. Temperature sensing This great new feature means water temperatures are electronically controlled for absolute confidence of wash temperature levels. The sensor allows the machine to compensate for different water supply temperatures and pressures. This means fabrics are not being exposed to higher wash temperatures than required and also that you get the hot wash you need for those heavy loads. Self levelling rollers A practical feature on our top load washers are the rear self levelling rollers, which allow you to move the appliance forward to easily clean the floor. They also allow for easy installation and maneuverability across most surfaces. The self-levelling mechanism will also ensure that the washer stays level and balanced at all times. Time remaining display and diagnostics display The control console on our top load washers feature an LED time remaining display which gives you a readout of time remaining in the selected wash program. Added to this is the end of cycle buzzer to let you know when the wash cycle is finished. The diagnostics display will also show a fault code that can save you the cost of a service call. Washer capacity Westinghouse top load washers come in a variety of sizes from the moderate 6kg to the 9.5kg washer. The variety of sizes lets you choose the optimal machine for your needs. For example the 9.5kg top load washer can save you up to 20% washing time over a standard 8kg machine. Multiple wash programs Our top load washers have up to 6 wash program options which include, maxi plus, woollens, delicates and regular, with 3 options for different soil levels. a world of leading features designed with you in mind clothes dryers
Crease free For maximum clothing care the crease free function available on selected models will gently rotate the dryer drum every few minutes at the end of the drying cycle. This stops the clothes from settling and prevents any unnecessary creasing before removing the clothes from the dryer. End of cycle buzzer Our dryers come with an end of cycle buzzer, so that you know exactly when the load is finished. Large capacity Large 5kg capacity will ensure that all your needs are catered for in our dryer range, from the smallest garment to the big family loads.
s e n s o r d r y
This new sensing technology monitors the moisture content of clothes throughout the drying cycle. When the clothes are deemed to be dry, the machine automatically turns off, saving time and unnecessary use of energy. Lint filter clean prompt The door mounted lint filter is easily removed for cleaning and is teamed with a lint filter clean prompt, which reminds you to clean the lint filter after each load. Program options and variable temperature selection Variable drying options are available for optimum drying and clothing care. Up to 6 drying options are available. These include normal, delicates, airing, iron dry, normal dry, extra dry and towel warm.
This proven tumbling action reverses the drum rotation so that the dryer will rotate in one direction for a set period, stop and then rotate in the other. This means less tangles and even drying temperatures throughout the load.
