FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Polymar Adds Automatic Assembly of VHB Tape Leola, PA, January 30, 2008 Polymar, a leading Pennsylvania custom injection molding company, recently expanded its value added services through the purchase of machinery that places VHB tapes onto automotive glass components. VHB tapes are acrylic foam tapes with twosided contact adhesive and two-sided release paper. This tape affixes to injection molded, automotive glass accessory parts such as locating pins, retention pins and ratchet clips. Previously, Polymar hand-assembled these tapes to the molded parts. The tape is cut to size; one of the release papers is removed, and is adhered to the base of the injection molded part. The second release tape remains in place. The parts are then shipped to an automotive glass manufacturer, where they are assembled to the glass by pulling a tab from the remaining release paper and fastening the exposed tape directly onto the auto glass. John Wolf, Polymars General Manager, remarks, "The assembly of VHB tape to injection molded parts used to be a labor-intensive process. This new machine enables Polymar to assemble these tapes more efficiently, and at a lower cost. We believe adding capabilities such as this machine will allow Polymar to grow together with the manufacturers of automotive glass.
