"Natural Black" Concept To provide superior contrast, Yamaha has developed the Natural Black concept, combining advanced technologies, parts and functions to achieve truer, deeper levels of black than ever before.
Black reproduction by DPX-1200 and conventional projectors.
Yamaha Natural Black makes subtle degrees of black in textures, shadows stand out more clearly.

Natural Colour Adjustment System 3 Colour Balance Modes - The first is the Standard mode and cannot be adjusted. - The second is the RGB mode, which allows adjustment of the red, green and blue colours by specifying x and y values for each. - The third mode is RGBYCM, which allows each of the six colours to be directly specified by entering x and y coordinates. Colour Temperature Adjustment The correlated colour temperature can be adjusted in 500k increments between 5,000k and 10,000k, for achieving accurate colour fidelity. Convenient Memory Functions There are six memory positions for storing different combinations of parameter settings, and each can be used for two input signals, making a total of 12 memory conditions. The user can store the same parameter combination for DVD and HDTV, for example.

ALIS Method Panel Technology
This plasma display panel uses an advanced ALIS (Alternate Lighting of Surface) Method to deliver a sharp, clear picture with the smooth, high-definition quality you see in a movie theatre. The ALIS Method employs a screen surface comprised of vertical channels of continuous phosphor material. The pixels are defined electronically rather than physically, allowing each picture element to be smaller than normal. This creates a higher pixel count for a smoother, seamless picture, with edges and curves clearly defined. The PDM-4210 uses the latest ALIS Method technology, which features new plasma gas and luminescent material that are more effective than previous types. The result is a brighter picture (1,100 cd/m2) and higher colour temperature, which makes white areas such as clouds in the sky stand out more vividly. The panel can also display a wider range of colours (16.7 million), with enhanced colour purity.

The sharpness and tint of each colour are independently controlled, so you can adjust the tint more precisely. Audio Delay for Adjusting Lip-Sync The Yamaha LSI in the receiver provides synchronization of images and sound, which is called lipsync. Most home cinema LSIs do not have the necessary speed and precision to handle this, but the Yamaha LSI is able to do it accurately. Whats more, by using the Audio Delay mode, lip-sync parameters can be adjusted whenever necessary. Night Listening Enhancer During low-volume listening, such as late at night, dynamic range suffers and you may miss some sounds. The Night Listening Enhancer offers two modes, Cinema and Music, with three-level selectability, which will ensure that you dont miss movie dialogue or quiet passages, or lose overall

YPAO Automatically Sets Best Sound for Any Room, Any Speaker Placement Yamahas YPAO system uses a small microphone and sophisticated equalization to automatically set the best sound for any room, no matter where the speakers are. First it checks the speaker connections and phase of each speaker. Then it sends out tones which are captured by the microphone to analyze the room acoustics and sets a variety of parameters, such as the speaker size, the distance of the speakers and even the sound pressure level, etc. Until it achieves the best sound conditions for your room and you dont have to do anything! The RX-V2500 has an improved system that is faster (less than three minutes), also adjusts frequency response, and provides three programmed EQ patterns, plus the ability to manually adjust parametric EQ settings. Six YPAO settings can be held in memory and recalled via two system memory buttons on the remote control. YPAO is available with the DSPZ9, RX-V2500, RX-V1500, RX-V757, RX-V657 and DVX-S150.

Yamaha CINEMA DSP Digital Technology (All Receivers) Conventional multi-channel systems base their sound on Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, using relatively simple matrix and steering techniques to create surround sound effects. Yamahas CINEMA DSP Digital technology is much more sophisticated. It naturally decodes the latest movie sound formats, but it also draws on a huge memory of real-world data from actual venues (especially for the music programmes) and input from movie sound technicians. Way Beyond Ordinary Surround Sound Our latest technology, Quad-Field CINEMA DSP actually creates four independent sound fields (see above) that merge to envelop you in an unmatched surround sound experience. You hear movies and music with accurate sound localization, smooth movement across the sound space, exceptional clarity and remarkably realistic presence. It will seem as if the walls of your room have disappeared and you are in the middle of your own immense theatre!

High Performance CINEMA DSP LSI (RX-V659, RX-N600, RX-V559 and RX-V459) These receivers use Yamahas recently developed LSI with 64-bit floating point quantization processing, for high-speed, high-density digital sound New CINEMA DSP LSI field processing. Night Listening Enhancer (RX-V659, RX-N600, RX-V559 and RX-V459) The Night Listening Enhancer offers two modes, Cinema and Music, with three-level selectability, which will ensure that you dont miss movie dialogue or quiet passages, or lose overall surround spaciousness even during low-volume listening late at night. SILENT CINEMA (All Receivers) The SILENT CINEMA mode allows private listening enjoyment of multi-channel music or movies, with accurate simulation of surround sound through ordinary headphones. Audio Delay for Adjusting Lip-Sync (RX-V659, RX-N600, RX-V559 and RX-V459) A Yamaha LSI provides synchronization of images and sound, which is called lip-sync. The video signal goes through the video processor circuit before it is displayed, which takes time, so it lags behind the audio. The LSI accurately aligns the signals and even allows the lip-sync parameters to be adjusted using the Audio Delay mode.

3 HDTV Compatible Component Video Input Terminals (Fixed and Assignable) (All Receivers) Component Video inputs offer higher picture quality, for use with units such as DVD players that have Component Video output. The frequency response of the component video signal is 5Hz 60MHz, making it compatible with HDTV (1080i/720p). Because we know that many people like to use several high quality video devices, we have given Yamaha receivers three component video inputs instead of the usual one or two. You can enjoy three different sources without having to change connections.

ToP-ART

When processing and transmission of the audio signal is simple and direct, there is less chance of it being affected by noise and distortion. Yamahas amplifier design technology called ToP-ART features I/O (input to output) Direct Symmetrical Design, with left and right channels organized in a straight, symmetrical layout for highest signal purity.
CD Direct Amplification and CD/DVD Direct Amplification
Engaged by a front panel switch, it matches CD (and DVD) signal levels so each stage produces less noise, resulting in improved S/N ratio and maintenance of the amps total gain balance.
Discrete Amplifier Configuration

High Dynamic Power, Low-Impedance Drive Capability
Level variations due to high amp impedance tend to reduce an amplifiers damping factor, and frequency variations cause it to fluctuate. This circuit cancels the effect of these variations, maintaining a high, stable damping factor, for superior articulation of all sounds and better frequency response.

They have a Zone 2 out so the audio/video signal (RX-497: audio only) can be output in a second room. RX-N600 Exclusive Network Receiver Functions
The RX-N600 is the first Yamaha receiver to offer network receiver functions. Using network connection and Windows Media Connect ver.2 technology, it lets you play MP3, WMA and WAV music from a remote PC. You can also listen to any of the thousands of stations available on Internet radio. The RX-N600 provides even more listening options. It can function as a Client in Yamahas MusicCAST home audio network, seamlessly integrating with the MCX-2000. A USB terminal on the front panel makes it convenient to play music from USB flash drives and portable USB music players. And the optional YDS-10 lets you connect your iPod to the receiver.
