Slick street power.
The FZ1 was born for life on the street, and its muscular frame is ready for anything. Its 998cc Supersport-based engine packs a mighty midrange punch. And for 2010, the ECU mapping has been revised to achieve improved throttle response in the low to mid-rpm range. The die-cast aluminium frame cuts its way through the curves like a supersport bike, to ensure that youre always in charge. The FZ1 has got heart-pumping performance, with serious attitude on top and a lean and mean look thats all about raw power. The FZ1 is equipped with an undercowling as standard, and for extra braking security there is an ABS version available.

FZ series: Supersport DNA in a versatile package.
FZ Series motorcycles all have the heart of a racer in a versatile body. The brutal power and impressive torque comes from engines based on Yamaha Supersport bikes. The ideology of the FZ series is straightforward: real-world performance you can enjoy wherever, whenever. So we applied our Art of Engineering philosophy to creating machines that excite on every ride. That means the engine uses refined cam profiles, intake/exhaust spec and fuel injection mapping for astonishing thrust over a broad rpm range. FZ Series models are built for real life with confidenceboosting handling, renowned Yamaha build quality and traffic-stopping looks that take your breath away.

Lean, mean looks

The FZ1 and FZ1/ABS come with the kind of lean, muscularity that makes a statement wherever you go. These are purebred sports machines, and that applies to their looks too; FZ models express their power even before you turn the throttle.

Open up the FZ1 or FZ1/ABS, and youll feel a specially-tuned version of Yamahas 998cc Supersport engine that made its name as one of the top performers in its category, both on the road and on the race track.

Powerful torque

The FZ1/ABS comes with high levels of torque to give superb acceleration in the mid-speed range. What this means for the rider is a machine that is exciting, versatile and easy to use in a range of common riding situations.
Rigid but agile aluminium frame
The FZ1/ABS comes with a Deltabox aluminium frame designed to match the performance of the Supersport-based engine. The compact size has been made by using Yamahas pioneering mould casting system, which allows it to be built with an idealised rigidity balance for excellent handling.

Forward riding position

You will have plenty of traction and perfect suspension on the FZ1/ABS, whether youre on winding country lanes or bumpy city streets, thanks to the extra-long truss-type aluminium 624mm swingarm suspension. Engineered through Yamahas exclusive CF die-cast aluminium casting method, its both light and strong. The first time you get on an FZ1 you notice the comfortable forward inclined riding position. A short fuel tank and long seat, along with low, close handlebars give a sporty forward riding position that aids the agile, responsive handling by positioning the rider closer to the front wheel.
