This appliance is designed for domestic use. It must not be used for purposes other than those for which it was designed. Only wash and dry fabrics which are designed to be machine washed and dried. Follow the instructions on each garment label. Do not overload the appliance. See the relevant section in the user manual. Before washing, ensure that all pockets are empty and buttons and zips are fastened. Avoid washing frayed or torn articles and treat stains such as paint, ink, rust, and grass before washing. Underwired bras must NOT be machine washed. Garments which have been in contact with volatile petroleum products should not be machine washed. If volatile cleaning fluids are used, care should be taken to ensure that the fluid is removed from the garment before placing in the machine. As some duvets and eiderdowns should be washed/dried in large commercial machines because of their bulk, please check with the manufacturer of the item before washing in a domestic machine. The users should always check that they have not left their gas lighters (disposable or otherwise) in their clothing. Never dry items that have had contact with chemicals such as dry cleaning fluid.These are of a volatile nature and could cause an explosion. Only tumble dry items which have been washed in water or require airing. Plastic detergent dispensers should not remain in the drum during the drying cycle, as the plastic used is not designed to withstand the heat. If you wish to washthrough-to-dry you should use the conventional detergent dispenser drawer.
Never pull the power supply cable to remove the plug from the socket; always take hold of the plug itself. Never use the washer-dryer if the power supply cable, the control panel, the working surface or the base are damaged so that the inside of the washer-dryer is accessible.

Child safety

This appliance is not intended for use by person (including children) with reduced physical sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. The packaging components (e.g. plastic film, polystyrene) can be dangerous to children danger of suffocation! Programme selector dial and On/Off switch
The programme selector dial allows to select a programme and/or to switch the machine on/off. It can be turned either clockwise or anticlockwise. The light Start/Pause starts to flash. Press the Spin button repeatedly to change the spin speed, if you want your laundry to be spun at a speed different from the one proposed by the washer-dryer or to select the No spin or the Rinse Hold option. The relevant light will light up.

By means of the Options button, you can select only one of the following option: Prewash, Intensive, Super Quick (see the relevant chapter Operating sequence). The relevant light will light up. By means of this button, the machine performs some additional rinses. The display shows the following information: duration of the selected programme, selected drying time, incorrect option selection, alarm codes, heating phase, child safety lock and end of programme. The Start/Pause button allows to start the selected programme; the corresponding green pilot light stops flashing. This button interrupts also a programme which is running, the corresponding green pilot light starts to flash.
By depressing this button you can select a timed programme for cotton or synthetics, the relevant phase light illuminates. The different pilot lights illuminate during the washing, the drying phase and at the end of the cycle.

Programme information

Eco programmes This programme can be selected for slightly or normally soiled cotton items. The temperature will decrease and the washing time will be extended. This allows to obtain a good washing efficiency by saving energy. Washing programme for machine washable wool as well as for hand washable woollens and delicate fabrics with the hand washing care symbol. Delicate washing programme suitable for silk and mixed synthetics items. Washing temperature is 30C. The maximum spin speed is automatically reduced to 700 rpm. Selecting this programme, the laundry is gently washed and spun to avoid any creasing. In this way ironing is easier. Furthermore the machine will perform additional rinses. Special program at 30C, (the duration is approx. 30 minutes), suitable for laundry to be freshened up: e.g. a sport jacket worn only once or slightly soiled or new garments. With this programme it is possible to rinse and spin cotton garments which have been washed by hand. The machine performs 3 rinses, followed by a final spin at maximum speed. The spin speed can be reduced by depressing Spin button. For emptying out the water of the last rinse in programmes with the Rinse Hold option. Turn first the programme selector dial to Off, then select programme Drain and depress the Start/Pause button. Separate spin for hand washed garments and after programmes with Rinse Hold option. Before selecting this programme the selector dial must be turned to Off. You can choose the speed by means of the relevant button to adapt it to the fabrics to be spun. To reset a programme and to switch off the machine turn the selector dial to Off. Now can a new programme be selected.

Maximum loads

Recommended loads are indicated in the programme charts. General rules: Cotton, linen: drum full but not too tightly packed; Synthetics: drum no more than half full; Delicate fabrics and woollens: drum no more than one third full. Washing a maximum load makes the most efficient use of water and energy. For heavily soiled laundry, reduce the load size.

Oil based paint: moisten with benzine stain remover, lay the garment on a soft cloth and dab the stain; treat several times. Dried grease stains: moisten with turpentine, lay the garment on a soft surface and dab the stain with the fingertips and a cotton cloth. Rust: oxalic acid dissolved in hot water or a rust removing product used cold. Be careful with rust stains which are not recent since the cellulose structure will already have been damaged and the fabric tends to hole. Mould stains: treat with bleach, rinse well (whites and fast coloureds only). Grass: soap lightly and treat with bleach (whites and fast coloureds only). Ball point pen and glue: moisten with acetone (*), lay the garment on a soft cloth and dab the stain. Lipstick: moisten with acetone as above, then treat stains with methylated spirits. Remove any residual marks from white fabrics with bleach. Red wine: soak in water and detergent, rinse and treat with acetic or citric acid, then rinse. Treat any residual marks with bleach. Ink: depending on the type of ink, moisten the fabric first with acetone (*), then with acetic acid; treat any residual marks on white fabrics with bleach and then rinse thoroughly. Tar stains: first treat with stain remover, methylated spirits or benzine, then rub with detergent paste.
(*) do not use acetone on artificial silk.

Removing stains

Stubborn stains may not be removed by just water and detergent. It is therefore advisable to treat them prior to washing. Blood: treat fresh stains with cold water. For dried stains, soak overnight in water with a special detergent then rub in the soap and water.

Detergents and additives

Good washing results also depend on the choice of detergent and use of the correct quantities to avoid waste and protect the environment. Although biodegradable, detergents contain substances which, in large quantities, can upset the delicate balance of nature.
The choice of detergent will depend on the type of fabric (delicates, woollens, cottons, etc.), the colour, washing temperature and degree of soiling. All commonly available washer-dryer detergents may be used in this appliance: powder detergents for all types of fabric, powder detergents for delicate fabrics (60C max) and woollens, liquid detergents, preferably for low temperature wash programmes (60C max) for all types of fabric, or special for woollens only. The detergent and any additives must be placed in the appropriate compartments of the dispenser drawer before starting the wash programme. If using concentrated powder or liquid detergents, a programme without prewash must be selected. The washer-dryer incorporates a recirculation system which allows an optimal use of the concentrated detergent. Pour liquid detergent into the dispenser drawer compartment marked just before starting the programme. Any fabric softener or starching additives must be poured into the compartment marked before starting the wash programme. Follow the product manufacturers recommendations on quantities to use and do not exceed the MAX mark in the detergent dispenser drawer.

The type and quantity of detergent will depend on the type of fabric, load size, degree of soiling and hardness of the water used. Water hardness is classified in so-called degrees of hardness. Information on hardness of the water in your area can be obtained from the relevant water supply company, or from your local authority. 13

Before the first use

WARNING! Ensure that the electrical and water connections comply with the installation instructions. IMPORTANT! Remove the polystyrene block and any material from the drum. IMPORTANT! Pour 2 litres of water into the main wash compartment of the detergent drawer in order to activate the ECO valve. Then run a cotton cycle at 95C, without any laundry in the machine, to remove any manufacturing residue from the drum and tub. Pour 1/2 a measure of detergent into the dispenser drawer and start the machine. Child safety lock This device permits you to leave the appliance unsupervised without having the worry that children might be injured by or cause damage to the appliance. This function remains able also when the washer-dryer is not working. There are two different ways to set this option: before pressing the Start/Pause: it will be impossible to start the machine. after pressing the Start/Pause it will be impossible to change any other programme or option. IMPORTANT! For the compatibility of the options with the washing programmes, please refer to the Programme table. 5. Select Prewash, Intensive, Super Quick option Press the Options Prewash button repeatedly, to Intensive select only one of the Super Quick available options. The Options relevant light will light up. Prewash: select this option if you wish your laundry to be prewashed at 30C before the main wash (not available for all programmes). The prewash ends with a short spin in programmes for cotton and synthetics, whereas in the programmes for delicate fabrics the water is only drained. Intensive: this option can be selected for heavily soiled laundry: the washing intensity will be increased and the washing time will be prolonged by few minutes depending on the selected type of fabric. Super Quick: a very short cycle for slightly soiled items that have been used or worn for a short time. The max. load recommended for cotton is 3 kg and for synthetic and delicate is 1 kg. The washing time will be reduced according to the type of fabric and the selected temperature.
No spin : by selecting this option all the spinning phases are supressed to prevent the fabrics from creasing. The final spin is replaced by a draining phase. Rinse Hold : by selecting this option the water of the last rinse is not emptied out to prevent the fabrics from creasing. When the programme has finished, the Start/Pause and the Wash light go off, the End pilot light illuminates, the display shows a flashing zero 0.00 and the door is blocked to indicate that the water must be emptied out. To empty out the water: 1. turn the programme selector dial to Off 2. select the Drain or Spin programme 3. reduce the spin speed if needed, by means of the relevant button 4. depress Start/Pause button 5. at the end of programme, only the pilot light End illuminates. Programme Option buttons Depending on the programme, different functions can be combined. These must be selected after choosing the desired programme and before depressing the Start/Pause button. In any case, if an option is chosen that is not allowed with the selected programme or option, the message Err will be displayed on the display for few seconds, and the integrated red Start/Pause light start flashing.

6. Select the Extra Rinse option This option is recommended for people who are allergic Extra Rinse to detergents, and in areas where the water is very soft. The machine performs some additional rinses. This option can be selected with all programmes except some programmes. (See the programme table). 7. Display The display shows the following information: Duration of the selected programme After selecting a programme, the duration is displayed in hours and minutes (for example 2.05). The duration is calculated automatically on the basis of the maximum recommended load for each type of fabric. Incorrect option selection If an option which is not compatible with the set wash programme is selected, the message Err is displayed for about 2 seconds and the integrated red Start/Pause light start flashing. Alarm codes In the event of operating problems, some alarm codes can be displayed, for example E20 (see paragraph Something not working). Some acoustic signals sound.

In any case both lights indicate that the appliance starts operating and the door is locked. 17
To interrupt a programme which is running, depress the Start/Pause button: the corresponding green pilot light starts to flash. To restart the programme from the point at which it was interrupted, press the Start/Pause button again. IMPORTANT! If an incorrect option is selected, the red pilot light of the Start/ Pause button flashes for 3 times and the message Err is displayed for about 2 seconds. 9. Select the Drying Time
When the programme has finished, the End pilot light illuminates and the Wash or Dry light go off.

Something not working

IMPORTANT! Certain problems are due to lack of simple maintenance or oversights, which can be solved easily without calling out an engineer. Before contacting your local Service Centre, please carry out the checks listed below. During machine operation it is possible that the red Start/Pause pilot light flashes, the buzzer sounds and one of the following alarm codes appears on the display to indicate that the machine is not working. E10: problem with the water supply E20: problem with water draining E40: door open. Once the problem has been eliminated, press the Start/Pause button to restart the programme. If after all checks, the problem persists, contact your local Service Centre. Malfunction Possible Cause / Solution The door has not been closed. E40 Close firmly the door. The plug is not properly inserted in the power socket. Insert the plug into the power socket. There is no power at the socket. Please check your domestic electrical installation. This may happen several times before the unbalance disappears and normal spinning can resume. If, after 10 minutes, the laundry is still not evenly distributed in the drum, the machine will not spin. In this case, redistribute the load manually and select the spin programme. Redistribute the laundry.

The drain hose may be extended to a maximum of 4 metres. An additional drain hose and joining piece is available from your local Service Force Centre. The joining piece must have an internal diameter of 18mm. If your drain hose looks like this (see below) you do not require the U piece. Just push the hose firmly into the standpipe. 2. Onto a sink outlet spigot. If the outlet spigot has not been used before, remove any blanking plug that may be in place.
Levelling Level the washer-dryer by raising or lowering the feet. The feet may be tight to adjust as they incorporate a self locking nut, but the machine MUST be level and stable. Any necessary adjustment can be made with a spanner. Accurate levelling prevents vibration, noise and displacement of the machine during operation. Some vibration is inevitable, especially if mounted on a wooden floor. Sprung wooden floors are particularly susceptible to vibration. For advice, consult a builder. If possible, always place the machine on a solid floor. Special conditions If the floor is carpeted or covered with crumbly or soft material, insert a rigid support base under the feet to prevent noise, vibration or displacement. The base should protrude a few centimetres beyond the edges of the machine. WARNING! The machine should NOT be placed on deep pile carpeting. NOTE Please ensure that when the appliance is installed it is easily accessible for the engineer in the event of a breakdown. In the interest of the environment washer-dryers and dishwashers should be connected to the FOUL drainage system, the water will then be taken to a sewage works for treatment before being discharged safely into a river. It is essential that these appliances are not connected to the surface water drainage system as this water is discharged directly into a river or stream and may cause pollution.
Push the drain hose onto the spigot and secure with a clip if required, ensure a loop is formed in the drain hose (see diagram) to prevent waste from the sink entering the washer-dryer. Important! Before connecting the machine to new pipework or to pipework that has not been used for some time, run off a reasonable amount of water to flush out any debris that may have collected in the pipes.

Fitting under a counter

WARNING! Before any work to the appliance, you must disconnect the plug from the power socket. Important! For safety reasons, it is dangerous to fit the appliance under a counter without the steel plate, which you can order in your nearest Service Force Centre. The top must be fixed to the cabinet as follows: Unscrew the screws from the back panel of the appliance. Push the worktop to the back and raise it to remove. (see the picture below).

Measure out detergent according to the water hardness, the degree of soiling and the quantity of laundry being washed.
