How to unlock your Mio Cx10
That method is easy and secure. Only a few minutes are necessary to unlock your device. At the end of the process, you will find a Win CE desktop with some applications, games and tools already installed.
In case of problem, you will be able to reset your device by a simple Hard Reset.

Before you start

1 Unzip Unlock_Mio_Cx10_v4.zip in a folder of your PC. 2 Install Mio Transfer from Mio DVD. Then, in C:\Program Files\Mio DigiWalker folder, replace file Mio transfer.exe by the file provided in the zip archive. That file is called Mio Transfer Hack.

3 Connect your Cx10 device to the USB port of your PC. Launch Mio Transfer Hack. 4 - Copy ppath_x10.txt file (depending of your device C510 or C710) in \Windows folder of the Mio. Rename that file to ppath.txt. Copy files cecmd.exe, Miotools.exe and Unlock Mio Cx10.cab in \Temp folder of the Mio. You should see that:
In case of synchronization problem with Unlock Mio Cx10.cab file, proceed like that:
Create a temporary folder, for example \Temp on \My Flash Disk or on the SD card if you have one (recommended), Copy files Miotools.exe and Unlock Mio Cx10.cab in that folder. cecmd.exe file must stay in internal folder \Temp of the Mio.
Notice: Dont matter with the.cab size. The.cab size is varying depending of the used method to unlock the device and the documentation is the same. 5 - Do a Soft Reset. 6 - After restart, you will obtain the normal screen of your GPS. Click on Contacts button. You will obtain explorer screen. Go in \Temp folder or the folder you created and contains the Unlock Mio Cx10.cab file:
Launch Miotool.exe. This program will be necessary to activate the keyboard. You should obtain a little square in the top left corner of the screen:
Launch Unlock Mio Cx10.cab file.
Click on the little square at the top left corner to activate the keyboard:
Accept installation by clicking Enter after activating installation windows by clicking the top of that window.
Accept replacement of files by clicking on Yes To All.
7 Do a Soft Reset (Little hole, near USB connector)
After restart of your Mio device, you will have a Windows CE 4.2 desktop looking like that:
Applications installed during the process: 1) Programs: Notepad, A calculator, A picture editor (Paint), Un calendar, A Divx player (TCPMP), A picture viewer (GQe), Viewers for Word, Excel, Powerpoint and pdf files. Un speadsheet (SpreadCE). 2) Tools: Tasks Manager, Sound icon in the taskbar, Explorer (Total Commander), Miotool, Screen rotate (necessary for some games), Regedit, Soft Reset tool, Hard Reset tool, Activ Sync shortcut. 3) Jeux Bricks, Gamebox (several little games), Mahjongg, Solitare, Sudoku. 4) Automatic launch at startup of Mapreceiver.exe which will be necessary to use Mio Transfer or Mio Transfer Hack son your unlocked Cx10.
5) Necessary shortcuts on the desktop and in the Start Menu as shown bellow:
Now, you can cleanup \Temp folder of your device:
Explanations seem to be long, but the process is really very short. A simple Hard Reset will put your Cx10 device to its initial state. Now, you can use your GPS as a real Pocket PC. If you want, you can install many other applications.
