I installed mine in a 2009 Toyota Corolla and the installation could not have been easier. The things it can do.

At first, I was pretty impressed with this unit. Nice screen, compact size, text to speech Constantly locks up This is a really good car GPS, a lot of bang for the ($270) buck. size, cost, accuracy, ease of use. battery life when not in car, Windows OS.

Panasonic's first US in-car GPS
The US GPS navigation market is pretty crowded with units coming from TomTom, Garmin and Navigon. That didn't stop Panasonic announce their first in-car GPS for the US though: the Strada CN-NVD905U. The Strada is actually an in-dash GPS unit that requires a double DIN slot for installation. The "in-dash" tag is pretty good considering it comes with a big 7-inch LCD touch panel. You wouldn't want a 7-inch screen blocking your view, eh? The multimedia system allows DVD, MP3, CD playback, iPod video connectivity and XM or Sirius Radio (if you get the optional tuners and antennas that is). Other features include Bluetooth hands-free calling functionality and inputs for Panasonic's rear-mounted camera (model CY-RC50OKU).The software navigation system comes with preloaded NAVTEQ maps that cover the entire US, Canada and Puerto Rico plus detailed map data of 86 U.S. Cities. The intelligent GPS navigation system comes with a customizable destination menu, multiple search, real-time traffic updates (by Sirius Traffic) and voice guidance in three languages (English, Spanish and French). Moreover, icons can automatically show traffic flow or tie-ups on the screen, allowing you to take an alternate route. You'll also get 12 million Points of Interests such as gas stations, airports, hotels, restaurants, hospitals, ATMs and historic landmarks. The maps can be easily updated using a future DVD map database.The Strada will be available next month for (cough) 1800$. Until now, the problem with many in-car GPS navigation systems has been confusing user interfaces, poor display screens, restricted map coverage, and slow performance. To address the growing need of drivers to have a strong and reliable navigation tool, Panasonic developed the Strada, HDD mobile navigation system, a user-friendly, high-capacity car navigation system which can easily instruct average, non-technical drivers where they are, where they've been, and how to get to their next destination. While serving as a driver's electronic navigator between points A, B and C, or any other combination, the Strada CN-NVD905U system can deliver radio broadcasts, real-time traffic information, and CD audio and DVD movie and can even play music and videos from an iPod allowing your car to be another source for on demand entertainment. Moving beyond navigation and entertainment, Panasonic's new navigation system also boasts several safety and convenience features, such as hands-free Bluetooth connectivity, an optional back-up camera to help avoid fender benders and the ability to program specific geographic areas that the driver wants to avoid. Complete with high-speed data to provide the driver with possible restaurant choices, gas stations and hotel accommodations along their trip, the Strada system, named after the Italian word for street, is truly the perfect driving companion.
