To Import Video into Studio DV
Transfer your videotape into iMovie using a converter box
Convert analog video to a digital video signal or digital video to analog. You can convert 8 mm, Hi8, VHS or SVHS format to the DV format using a special converter box, such as the Sony DVMC-DA2 that is available at the Apple Store for Education. This converter box has standard S-Video and RCA input/output ports for video and audio with a FireWire or i.LINK (IEEE 1394) input/output port. Transfer your unedited movie footage through a media converter box, and from there edit them in iMovie on your computer. Connect the VCR to the media converter box using an RCA cable. The media converter box should be powered on and set to ANALOG in. Video OUT from the back of the VCR to Video IN on the converter box. Connect the media converter box to the computer using a firewire cable. Use the controls on the VCR to play, rewind, pause and stop your video. Use the import button in iMovie to capture and record the footage that you want for your movie.
