NightShot

Sonys DSC-F707 makes it easy to take pictures in low- and no-light situations. With the flip of a switch, the infrared NightShot mode is activated, which defeats the flash and an infrared picture is captured with no visible light at all. NightShot makes it possible to take pictures or MPEG movies such nocturnal wildlife in a way that is nearly impossible with other digital still cameras.

NightFraming

Ideal for low light and no-light framing and shooting. In order to compose pictures in a dimly lit restaurant or other settings with challenging light, NightFraming integrates NightShot technology, Hologram AF and ITL pre-flash metering. This seamless system enables the photographer to properly frame a subject, attain accurate focus and achieve correct flash exposure for consistently excellent flash shots.

Hologram AF Contrast

Ideal for photographing difficult subjects such as a smooth beach on a moonless night, as it zeroes in on difficult low-light, low-contrast subjects. Hologram AF is a Sonyexclusive laser focusing system designed to achieve accurate focus on subjects with little contrast in dark conditions. It projects a visible Class 1 laser hologram pattern directly onto the subject so the camera can detect the contrast between the edge of the laser pattern and the subject itself.

Slow Shutter NR

In order to capture strikingly natural night scenes with available light, Slow Shutter NR overcomes the problem of CCD noise in long time exposures. The camera first captures the image, then closes the iris while it captures a black frame just the noise pattern of the CCD. The camera then subtracts the noise pattern from the image and leaves it virtually noise-free.

Multi-Pattern Metering

To get accurate exposure in uneven lighting, such as a scene with the sun in one corner and a shaded hammock in the other, a multi-pattern metering option is included for the first time in a Sony digital still camera. By dividing the scene into a matrix of separate cells which can be metered independently, it accurately calculates exposure when highlights and shadows exist outside the centre of the frame.
Clear Colour NR (Noise Reduction)
Clear Colour NR reduces noise in the colour signal, which is useful when the subject includes areas of similar colour, such as blue sky backgrounds.

MPEG Movie EX*/HQ

Capture life with Cyber-shots exciting MPEG Movie mode. New MPEG Movie EX can record as long as your Memory Stick capacity allows up to 90 minutes with 128MB**. Using MPEG-1 compression for video, your movies can be played back on any computer equipped with a MPEG-1 software player (e.g. Quicktime 3.2). MPEG Movie Mode allows you to convey a message that is just not appropriate solely with an image. Quality MPEG movie capturing capability delivers large 320 x 240 pixel full-screen video playback! Pop-Up Intelligent Flash + Red-Eye Reduction
The Intelligent Flash offers precise control over the duration and intensity of the flash due to the integration of a Digital Light Adjustment Control. As the flash light bounces back from the object, the cameras built-in Light Acceptance Unit conveys this information to the cameras CPU for dynamic alteration to the duration and strength of the flash operation. By generating pre-strobes prior to the firing of the flash, the common problems of red-eye effects in photographs can be easily eradicated.
