Fold : Unfold

Pure Fold
Pure Fold is inspired by the central principle of Origami: that two dimensions can be transformed into three through the simple act of folding. Pure Fold uses flexible plastic rather than paper, but once the internal components are in place, the external structure is folded to produce the laptops final form. The result is a simple yet elegant compact design.

Enfold

rom children to artists to architects, we are all inspired by the humble fold. From this simple starting point, the ASUS in-house design team sought to take a step into the future and predict the ways in which cultural trends and cutting-edge technologies might inform laptop designs over the next decade. The ingenious folding design introduces a new philosophy to industrial design for producing computers in new and more efficient ways that respond to users desires for increased performance, but decreased complexity.
The ideas that underpin the art of Origami are fully embraced by the Enfold concept. Not only does its one-piece folding design dispense with a mechanical hinge between the screen and the keyboard, but the cover is made entirely from paper. Cheap and easily recyclable, these paper covers can be decorated, are freely interchangeable and are surprisingly durable.

Unfold to Share

With a design inspired by the ingenious folding bicycle, the Airo uses an innovative mechanism to raise the keyboard to a more comfortable angle for typing than traditional laptop designs allow. The sleek folding design also incorporates air vents that help reduce the temperature of the Airos internal components, improving the laptops performance, reliability and lifespan.
The ASUS Unfold to Share concept represents a revolutionary new computer experience. Its opaque screen can be stacked or placed back to back, allowing users to share ideas and collaborate on projects. Green on the outside

ASUS uses recycled materials in over 90% of its product packaging, and strives to keep the overall amount of material used to a minimum. Where possible, paper pads are used for internal product padding instead of polyurethane foam, and ASUS also restricts the use of polystyrene. By using only one ink colour for printing, ASUS also helps make the recycling of its packaging much easier.

Recycle & reuse

All ASUS PCs are designed to be easily dismantled and recycled. ASUS was the first computer manufacturer to introduce a recycling programme in the US in 2006, and it now has six recycling centres across the UK and Europe. The free ASUS take back programme has already resulted in over 1,000 computers being refurbished and distributed to schools in disadvantaged communities.
