QUALITY RECORDINGS

And, being Fostex, you have the tools to ensure great sounding music too. The best recording is all about getting the most out of the available headroom on the tape. In short, you need to maximise the input gain of your instrument or mic without overloading. Too little gain and you get an excess of hiss, too higher gain and the signal will distort. To achieve the best balance, the X-12 features a low-noise mic/ instrument input with the addition of a rotary gain control and an illuminated level meter. By adjusting the gain whilst watching
the meter you can achieve the best signal to noise ratio. Aiding quality still further is the new tape transport which has been re-engineered from previous models and includes a larger flywheel which enhances reliability, ensuring consistent recording quality.
INPUT WITH ROTARY GAIN CONTROL The X-12 input can handle a wide range of signals from microphones to keyboards thanks to the wide-range input. Headroom can be maximised by using the rotary gain control.
