Nissan has always enjoyed a strong motorsport presence in South Africa, and since entering the off-road arena have totally dominated the championship. The winning streak began in 2001 when Nissan won the first off-road title it contested, with Giniel de Villiers and Francois Jordaan. Duncan Vos repeated the win in 2002 with Mike Griffith. 2003 saw Hannes Grobler and Richard Leeke victorious for an amazing third consecutive year. A win was again assured in 2004, this time with Hannes Grobler and Francios Jordaan. Nissan secured the championship again in 2005 when Alfie Cox and Ralph Pitchford prevailed. THE POWER TO BREAK FREE

The latest evolution of an indestructibly robust range of Nissan vehicles, the Nissan Navara draws on a 50 year heritage of engine building expertise, muscling to the front of its class for pure power performance. The second generation 2.5 litre common rail turbo diesel engine uses a variable nozzle turbo and intercooler to produce an awesome 128kW of power and 403Nm of torque. Which means that the Nissan Navara not only outperforms all of its rivals, but it can also carry up to 843kg while towing up to 3 000kg. This impressive power unit comes standard on the Nissan Navara 4WD with a 6-speed manual transmission a first in its category. A 106kW, 356Nm torque version is available for the Nissan Navara 2WD. And if its class-leading petrol performance youre after, look no further than the 4.0 litre awardwinning V6 petrol engine, which bristles with 198kW and 385Nm of torque. Use it as you please. This powerful 4.0 litre engine includes advanced design features such as Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) with secondary mapping in 4LO (4WD models), Continuous Valve Timing Control (C-VTC) and the Nissan variable Induction Control System (NICS).

THE DOUBLE CAB THAT CAN

Bigger and better, the Nissan Navara makes light of your heaviest load. Built to tackle demanding jobs day after day with stamina in reserve for your weekend adventures, this formidable Double Cab works as hard as it plays. The Nissan Navara has a maximum load carrying capacity of 971kg and one of the largest loadbox areas in its class. With well over a metre between the wheelarches, you have access to more practical, useable space to accommodate those bulky loads that just dont fit in other pickups. And if you leave the tailgate down, the loadbox lengthens to nearly 2 metres. The streamlined, tubular roofrack is shaped to reduce wind resistance and can carry 100kg. So, no more excuses.

EASY LOADER

Awkward loads. You know the kind. Theyre never easy to load. They tip over when you take a corner. And they take up double their volume in precious load space. Well, thanks to the Nissan Navaras ingenious Utili-track cargo tie down system, its time to bid them farewell and experience the pleasure of quicker, safer loading. The Utili-track cargo tie down system consists of a series of sensibly positioned channels on the loadbed sides, front wall and floor, with movable sliding cleats that can be adjusted to the ideal securing position for virtually any load, and locked in place to provide tie down points. So you can carry bikes, motorbikes, outboards in fact almost anything safely and without fear of damage.
AMBITION, MATCHED BY ABSOLUTE ABILITY
The Nissan Navara is not only incredibly powerful, its also exceptionally fun to drive. Apart from its flexible power delivery, a strong high tensile steel ladder chassis with welded cross members and a highly effective suspension system give the Nissan Navara remarkable agility with quick, accurate response to your command. At the front, rack and pinion steering and compact independent suspension with coil over shock absorbers and double wishbones provide a light yet rigid set up for optimum ride comfort and stable handling. The rear suspension offers high lateral rigidity for better cornering, with long vertical axle travel to cope with heavy loads and rough tracks. So wherever youre going and whatever youre carrying, youll be sure to finish every journey as you started it relaxed and inspired.
ON-ROAD, OFF-ROAD, NO ROAD
Dont be fooled by its sedan-style luxury and sporty ride. The Nissan Navara 4WD is a serious off-road contender. A dashboard rotary switch gives you easy access to three driving modes. 2WD for normal driving conditions sends power to the rear wheels only, while engaging 4WD ensures a 50/50 power split between the front and rear wheels. 4WD high gives you the high ratio required for faster, lighter off-road conditions. And 4WD low selects a low ratio for maximum traction in serious off-road conditions, deep mud or during climbing, with maximum engine braking whilst descending. The Nissan Navara 4WD is fitted with a manually operated electric rear differential lock which ensures an equal split of power to both rear wheels under demanding off road conditions.

TOUGH, NOT ROUGH

It is possible to be tough without being rough when youve got an interior as spacious, comfortable and comprehensively equipped as the Nissan Navaras. The Nissan Navara is a full five seater with a wide, roomy cabin. The second row seat splits 60:40 and folds to create maximum luggage space, and the front passenger seat folds flat too. Storage is generous, including a large double deck glovebox, a central dashboard tray, a console between the front seats and storage pockets in all doors. Access to the rear seating and the cargo area is easy with the cabs large rear doors, and convenient steprails ease entry to and exit from the cabin and facilitate access to the roofrack.

OFF-ROAD CAPABILITIES

All Nissan vehicles now come with a Microdot high-tech anti-theft security feature.
Since 4 October 2006, all new Nissan vehicles are fitted with the Microdot hi-tech anti-theft security feature as standard. The Microdot technology offers added peace of mind from a security perspective. A sticker applied to the vehicle is a visual indication that the vehicle has been fitted with Nissan Microdot, and this is also a deterrent to would-be thieves. Some insurance houses are offering premium discounts to customers if they have this anti-theft feature fitted to their vehicles.
