Challenge Foundation Academy Master Teacher
The Challenge Foundation Academy Located in one of Indianapoliss most underserved communities, the Challenge Foundation Academy (CFA) is a tuition-free, K-5 public charter school currently in its fifth year in operation. We are diverse collection of families, educators and volunteers committed to equipping our students with the strongest possible preparation for success in Indianapoliss most demanding, college-preparatory middle and high schools. CFA employs a rigorous and engaging curriculum aligned to state standards as well as the Core Knowledge scope and sequence. Our teachers use a range of effective instructional strategies, innovative tools and technology to challenge and support our students to meet ambitious academic goals. We employ the TAP system of Teacher and Student Development as a means to help our teachers reach our high standards of performance and student learning. Finally, we couple our instructional program with creative, engaging ways to involve parents in this work. Together, we aim to challenge all of our students to build not only their academic skills but also habits of curiosity, kindness, and persistence essential to college and life success. Finally, CFA is the flagship school in the Challenge Foundation network. We benefit greatly from the continued support of this foundation as well as collective knowledge and resources of a broad array of local leaders committed to making magic in the Meadows, the neighborhood we are working to transform through the power of great schools. The Position CFA uses the TAP System of Teacher and Student Advancement to facilitate the development of our staff and the overall achievement of our students. This system provides multiple paths through which teachers can grow. The TAP system also includes merit-based compensation, ongoing applied professional development and performance-based accountability. We are looking for a dedicated, high-performing teacher interested in serving as a critical leader in shaping the quality and direction of our school. A qualified candidate for this position must have a record of proven impact in the classroom instruction as well as the skills and disposition essential to helping other teachers grow and develop in ways that maximize student learning and overall achievement in our school. At CFA, we have two Master Teachers. They are critical members of our schools leadership team, overseeing the implementation and impact of TAP. Together, our Master Teachers oversee our schools curriculum, instruction and assessment as well as the process through which we use student achievement data to shape professional development and interventions at CFA. Our Master Teachers also work closely with our Mentor Teachers (4) in evaluating, supporting and developing the instructional skills and strategies of schools instructional team. The specific responsibilities of this position include: Active participation on the Leadership Team responsible for TAP implementation. Analysis of school, teacher and student achievement data for the purpose of determining instructional focus, support and professional development priorities. Plan, organize and oversee cluster meetings in which teachers meet to discuss instructional strategies and student growth Evaluate teacher performance using TAP Teaching Standards scoring rubrics Design and implement schools Professional Development program for teachers, based on teacher performance and student learning data. Participate in all TAP training activities. Other Duties In Support of the Overall Growth and Operations of the School Finally, this is an especially exciting opportunity to be part of a close knit team and contribute hugely to the success of our school, early in its development and in its initial implementation of the TAP System. Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position will meet the following qualifications: Evidence of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluations, promotions and portfolio of work. Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development, student learning, test analysis, mentoring, and professional development, as demonstrated by an advanced degree, training and/or career experience. Student learning data that illustrates the teachers ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventions. Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team teaching, video presentations and student achievement gains. Skill and expertise in facilitating growth and skill development among adults. Excellent communication skills. A cooperative, energetic disposition and capacity to work in concert with ones team. A deep interest in working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment relentlessly focused on high standards and achieving ambitious goals for our young students. Leadership and willingness to take initiative in addressing issues in and outside specific job requirements in order to continuously improve the overall quality of the CFA program.
