I picked up one of these about six months ago from B&Q for around £60. There must have been some offer on at the time as I got this exact model.

For Your Safety

Working safely with this machine is possible only when the operating and safety information is read completely and the instructions contained therein are strictly followed. In addition, the general safety notes in the safety notes section must be observed. Wear safety glasses. If you have long hair, wear a protective hairnet. Work only with close-fitting clothes. Before each use, check the machine and battery. If damage is detected, do not use the machine. Have repairs performed only by a qualified technician. Never open the machine yourself. Before any work on the machine itself (e. g. maintenance, tool change, etc.) as well as when transporting and storing it, always set the rotational direction switch to the middle position. Otherwise an injury may occur when unintentionally pressing the On /Off switch. Before using, make sure the battery fits securely inside the machine. Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes to a standstill. Always hold the machine securely because strong reaction moments can occur as a result of the driving-in process.
Not all the illustrated or described accessories are included as standard delivery.

Intended Use

The machine is intended for the screwing in and loosening of screws and for drilling in wood, metal, ceramics and plastic. s
Noise/Vibration Information
Measured values determined according to EN 50 144. The A-weighted sound pressure level of the tool is less than 70 dB (A). The noise level when working can exceed 85 dB (A). Wear ear protection! The typical hand-arm vibration is below 2.5 m/s2.

210 TMS 13.11.02

English - 1
s Secure the workpiece. Clamping devices or a vise will hold the workpiece in place better than the hand. s Never allow children to use the machine. s Bosch can only guarantee a flawless functioning of the machine if the original accessories intended for it are used.

Changing the Tool

Open the chuck until the tool can be inserted. Then, insert the tool. Hold the rear sleeve tight and firmly tighten the front sleeve by hand, until the locking action (click) is no longer heard. The drill chuck is locked automatically. The locking is released again when the front collar is turned in the opposite direction to remove the tool.
Battery and Battery Charger
s The enclosed operating instructions for the battery charger must be read carefully! s Allow heated batteries to cool before charging. s Protect the battery from heat and fire: Explosion risk! Do not place the battery on radiators or expose it to strong sun rays for a long time period; temperatures over 50 C cause damage. s Do not open the battery and protect from impact. Store in a dry and frost-free place. s Do not dump the battery into the household waste, fire or water.

Screwdriving (see figures
Clamp the bit 7 directly into the drill chuck. We recommend using the universal bit holder 8 for quick changes.
Initial Operation Inserting the Battery
Set the rotational direction switch 3 to the center position = lock-off and allow the charged battery 5 to engage into the handle.
Before Use Battery Charging
A battery that is new or has not been used for a longer period does not develop its full capacity until after approximately 5 charging /discharging cycles. To remove the battery 5, press the unlocking buttons 6 and pull out the battery downwards. Do not exert any force. The battery is equipped with an NTC temperature monitor which allows charging only within a temperature range of 0 C to 45 C. This will prolong the useful life of the battery. A significantly reduced working period after charging indicates a used up battery that must be replaced. s Observe the indications regarding environmental protection.

Switching On and Off

To start the unit, press the On/Off switch 4. The machine runs with variable speed between 0 and maximum depending on the pressure applied to the On/Off switch 4. Light pressure results in a low rotational speed, thus allowing smooth, controlled starts. Do not load the machine so heavily that it comes to a standstill. To switch off the unit, release the On/Off switch 4.

Run-On Brake

When the On/Off switch 4 is released, the chuck brakes to a stop, thus preventing the run-on of the tool. For screwdriving work, wait until the screw is screwed in flush with the material and then release the On/Off switch 4. By doing so, the head of the screw does not penetrate into the material.

English - 2

Changing the Rotational Direction
Operate the rotational switch 3 only at a standstill. direction
s It is advisable to drill a pilot hole first before attempting to screw in large, long screws into hard materials.
The rotational direction switch 3 changes the directional rotation of the machine. However, this is not possible if the On/Off switch 4 is being pressed.

Maintenance and Cleaning

s Before any work on the machine itself, remove the battery. For safe and proper working, always keep the machine and the ventilation slots clean. Should the machine fail in spite of careful manufacturing and testing, its repair should be carried out by a Bosch power tools authorized service agent. For all correspondence and spare parts orders, always include the 10-digit part number of the machine!

Right Rotation ( a ) Turn the rotational direction switch through to the left stop (normal operation: drilling, driving in screws, etc). Left Rotation ( b ) Press the rotational direction switch to the right as far as it will go (loosening or unscrewing of screws and nuts).

Setting the Torque

Carry out a practical test to determine with which one of the 5 settings of the torque setting ring 1 the screws are driven flush into the material. Low setting, e. g., small screws, soft materials. High setting, e. g., large screws, hard materials. With the correct setting, the clutch disengages as soon as the screw is driven flush into the material or the set torque is reached. Select a higher setting when driving out screws, or set to the Drilling symbol. The correct setting is to be determined by practical testing. Drilling Set the torque setting ring 1 to the Drilling symbol.

Environmental Protection

Replacing the Chuck
For machines without a drill spindle locking facility, the chuck must be changed by an authorized customer service facility for Bosch power tools. The chuck must be tightened with a starting torque of approx. Nm.
Recycle raw materials instead of disposing them as waste The machine, its accessories and packaging materials should be sorted for environmentallyfriendly recycling. These instructions are printed on chlorine-free recycled paper. The plastic components are labeled for categorized recycling. Nickel-cadmium-battery: If your product is equipped with a nickel-cadmium-battery, the battery must be collected, recycled or disposed of in an environmentally-friendly way. Defective or worn-out batteries must be recycled according to the 91/157/EEC guideline.

General Safety Rules
WARNING! Read all instructions. Failure to follow the instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term power tool as used in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool and to battery operated (cordless) power tool. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 1) Work area a) Keep the work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas can lead to accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosion-risk areas where there are flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite dust or fumes. c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. 2) Electrical safety a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with grounded power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts of tools. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. 3) Personal safety a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, nonskid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for the appropriate power tool will reduce the risk of personal injuries. c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Poorly maintained power tools cause many accidents. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to jam and therefore easier to control. g) Use the power tool, its accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for that particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
5) Battery tool use and care a) Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before inserting the battery pack. Inserting the battery pack into power tools that have the switch on could lead to accidents. b) Recharge only with a charger recommended by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack. c) Use power tools only with those battery packs specifically designated for them. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire. d) When not using the battery pack, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. e) Improper use may cause liquid to be ejected from the battery; avoid contact with it. If contact accidentally occurs, flush with water. If liquid reaches the eyes, seek medical help as well. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause skin irritation or burns. 6) Service a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified technician who uses only original replacement parts.
