Dry-set the new glass and create alignment markings. 15. Remove all but 1-2 mm (1/16 inch) of existing adhesive from the pinchweld area. Caution: Do not touch or contaminate the existing adhesive once it is trimmed. Installation It is absolutely necessary to use an adhesive system. Do not mix products. This can include, but is not limited to, preps, primers, cleaners, and adhesive. Follow all installation procedures recommended by the vehicle or adhesive manufacturer. Note: Depending on the technicians decision on where to apply the adhesive, pinchweld or glass, steps 2 and 5 may be reversed to allow proper time for the primers and preps to dry. 1. Remove safety gloves and put on nitrile gloves. 2. Apply metal primer to any exposed paint and/or scratches caused by the removal process. Allow to dry thoroughly according to adhesive manufacturers recommendations. 3. Clean the glass with a lint-free disposable cloth. 4. Attach the molding to the glass edge. 5. Apply any or all preps and/or AutoGlass 200102 Installation Guide 25 11. Prior to removing the glass from the vehicle, remove any debris from between the glass and the body. 12. Cut out glass part with tools of choice. primers to the bonding surface of the glass. Allow to dry thoroughly. 6. Apply a V bead of adhesive to the glass or pinchweld. Make sure that the height of the V and the size of the bead are consistent with the vehicle manufacturers requirements. 7. Set the glass using vacuum cups and apply pressure to assure contact is made between the two bonding surfaces. Do not apply too much pressure. 8. Check for leaks with leak detector or water. 9. Re-install all other parts in reverse order. 10. Clean and detail vehicle. 11. Post-inspect the vehicle. See The Seven Steps of Installation step 7 for further information.

Windshield

Removal 1. Pre-inspect vehicle with customer present or with pre-inspection worksheet. Note all damage to exterior, interior, and mechanical devices pertaining to windshield replacement. See The Seven Steps of Installation step 1 for further information. 2. Double check for correct glass parts, moldings, and miscellaneous supplies. 3. Put on all personal protection equipment (PPE) to reduce injury. 4. Protect the vehicle interior and exterior surfaces from possible damage. See The Seven Steps of Installation step 2 for further information. 5. As parts are removed from the vehicle, place them in an area where they will not be damaged or misplaced. 6. Disconnect the antenna lead from the right side of the mirror. 7. Remove the mirror by loosening the 25T torx set screw and the wire guard. Then remove from the mirror pad. 8. Remove the wiper caps and remove the 13 mm nuts. Disconnect the wiper washer hoses from the cowl jet. 9. Remove the two-piece cowl by removing the hood bulb seal and the three retainers in the corners and middle. Remove the slotted plug on the passenger side. 10. Remove the three-sided wraparound molding from the glass edge.
