In Ford Freestyle, theres ample room for up to 7 adults and their cargo. Reclining bucket seats outfit 1st and 2nd rows in 6-passenger configurations. If 7-passenger seating is desired, a 3-person 60/40 split bench seat is available for the 2nd row. Either option flips forward effortlessly to access the comfortable 3rd-row bench seat. Amenities there include reading lights, up to 4 cupholders and small storage bins. In Freestyle, no passenger takes a back seat when it comes to comfort.

To make Freestyles 3rd-row bench seat or available 50/50 split bench disappear, just fold the seats forward (1), pull them back (2) toward the rear of the vehicle, and fold them into the floor (3). Then, fill up Freestyle with gear.

An intricate steel-link belt (above) connects the 2 variablesize, high-strength steel-alloy pulleys in Freestyles CVT. One pulley handles input from the engine while the other sends it to the drive wheels. Under normal conditions, Freestyles available All-Wheel Drive (AWD) operates in front-wheel-drive mode. But as soon as wheel slip is detected, AWD delivers power to the wheels with the most traction. It can also direct power side to side on each axle, thanks to Traction Control allowing you to continue forward even if only one wheel has grip.

On every 2006 Ford Freestyle, the Personal Safety System and Front-Passenger Sensing System enhance protection for both the driver and front passenger. Utilizing a network of smart sensors, the deployment level of the dual-stage front airbags is based on several criteria: whether a front passenger is present and his/her weight range; the position of the drivers seat; whether the front safety belts are in use; and the overall severity of the crash. These details help the systems deploy the front airbags in just the right manner, at just the right time. A Cushioning Curtain
Ford Freestyle is the only vehicle in its class to offer the available Safety CanopyTM System with an exclusive rollover sensor. Front-seat side airbags offer enhanced chest protection, while side-curtain airbags (that inflate to a thickness of about 4 inches) cover the side windows on all 3 rows of seats for enhanced head protection for outboard occupants. If a rollover is starting or a side-impact collision is under way, sensors determine within milliseconds which of the airbags to deploy. In side-impact and rollover protection, Freestyle confidently leads the way.
