Description of the respective model within the KTM model line-up and compared to its competitors with regard to usage and price positioning (Entry

BIKE BASIS

In comparison to all other completely new launched 2008 bikes, the 1190 RC8 cannot be compared with any other KTM motorbike! The launch of KTMs first real thoroughbred Superbike goes far beyond merely introducing a new model. In terms of effort, investment and dedication, the 1190 RC8 is the companys most ambitious development project yet undertaken. Although based on the lightest state-of-the-art serial V2 ever, a completely new, extremely low weight and very compact engine was created for the 1190 RC8. Furthermore, the engineers responsible for the 1190 RC8 put their considerable expertise to work to create an innovative frame made of high-strength chrommoly steel. Besides the already mentioned highlights, the mindful spectator will recognize other outstanding features, e.g. a from scratch newly developed and designed swing arm, cockpit or the vast range of possibilities for individual adjustment of the riders position. The 1190 RC8 is exceptional in every single aspect!

SUPERBIKE

1190 RC8 R/1190 RC8

Fastest in the forest of curves. Winner at the start. King of the racetracks. You and your RC8 R. Always focussed on the next speed trip. The track? Engraved in your memory. Curve by curve. Straight by straight. Nothing can distract you. The time has come! Every day.

RULE No.1

BEING AHEAD BEFORE THE START IS THE FIRST STEP TO WINNING THE RACE.

RULE No.2

EVERYONE BRIEFLY SEES RED JUST BEFORE THE RACE.
Your sights are fixed on the first curve, while out of the corner of your eye you are watching the shimmering red starting lights. Youre ready for everything. Just like your RC8 R! Just seconds away. Then youre off. The V2 power drives you mercilessly forwards and the enormous thrust takes you irresistibly past your opponents.

RULE No.3

ONLY THE IDEAL LINE COUNTS. AND YOU DICTATE WHERE THAT IS!
Full power towards the first curve, you coax every last bit of speed out of your RC 8 R. The Brembos grip exactly while you and your bike perfectly follow the invisible line, your knee pads grazing their twins in the curbs. Open the throttle again! A perfect routine. Curve for curve. Lap for lap. Race for race.

RULE No.4

OTHERS CALL IT A CHICANE. FOR YOU ITS JUST A NICE CHANGE OF PERSPECTIV E.
Brake, lay over, bank right, bank left, exit from the curve and full throttle again: The ultimate skill. Its here that the right decisions count and a sharply honed tool. Your RC8 R offers the perfect symbiosis of ergonomics and chassis. For every track!
Wheel to wheel. Lap by lap. Dont waste a millimetre, its the ultimate battle. Your RC8 R offers you everything you need to stay ahead of the pack. Perfect chassis, infinite power, extremely uniform power development. Gear shifting often becomes superfluous and you can concentrate fully on the track.

RULE No.5

YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO GIVE YOUR ALL IF YOU WANT TO WIN THE RACE.
The last lap, the last curve. Total concentration, total acceleration, total surge of adrenalin. Just a few metres to the finish line. Just seconds away from victory. The spectators are on their feet and your pulse is racing. Then finally the black-and-white flag. The race belongs to you and your RC8 R!

RULE No.6

RACES ARE WON IN THE MIND OR AT THE TWIST OF THE THROTTLE.

DESIGN

BUILT TO BE OUT IN FRONT.

1190 RC8 R

SWINGARM Particularly in this area, the highest attention was paid to efficiency and performance in the RC8 R. The black coated double swingarm of high-quality cast and sheet metal parts guarantees not only maximum stability, but also perfect traction in every riding situation. A further detail of note are the axle mounts that permit high-speed wheel changing and help save valuable time during the race.
FRAME The innovative, orange powder-coated frame of high-strength chrome-molybdenum steel stands for optimum engine positioning and at the same time extremely low weight. At less than 7.5 kg, it is around 5 kg lighter than light-alloy bridge frames and thus sets the standard when it comes to light weight. If desired, the geometry of the bike can also be varied by means of the eccentric at the pivot that allows the height of the rear end to be changed by 12 mm.
BRAKES High-end Brembo stoppers with two floating 320 mm brake discs at the front increased to 5 mm thickness for more bite and durability. Plus radial brake pump, four-piston monobloc callipers and four individual pads. At the rear wheel, a Brembo two-piston fixed calliper ensures a powerful grip on the 220 mm brake disc.

ENGINE

THE TIME HAS COME. FOR THIS NEW FORCE.
ENGINE With the engine of the RC8 R, the KTM engineers have set yet another milestone. A larger bore and modified pistons provide a truly impressive displacement of 1195 cc and guarantee the RC8 R an enormous 170 hp. The reinforced clutch with damper system and the optimised gearbox stand for precise, easy and quick gear shifting in the battle against the clock.
First Oil Filling for all KTM Engines.

STRIPPED

OVERALL PERFECTION. CONVINCING TECHNOLOGY!
Engine Weighing only 62 kg, this lightweight powerhouse with its ultracompact dimensions sends 170 hp and a torque of 123 Nm to the rear wheel. Rear end Ultra-sleek mono rear end, height-adjustable by 12 mm for perfect ergonomics by means of an extended eccentric at the pivot.
WP mono shock New damper construction with special R setting and TiAlN-coated piston rod. Infinitely variable spring preload, 28-step rebound damping and compression damping adjustable separately for low/high speeds. Multi-adjust eccentric for height setting.

Swingarm Black-coated double swingarm of cast and sheet metal parts for perfect traction and maximum stability. Axle mounts for ultra-fast wheel changing.
Exhaust Innovative underfloor exhaust system for optimum performance, low centre of gravity, minimum noise level, and compliance with the Euro 3 values thanks to the catalytic converter.
Cockpit Multifunctional console with multifunctional display: Information can be called up in street or race mode via menu buttons on the handlebar.
Forks 43 mm WP USD forks, TiAlN-coated fork inner tube, spring adjustable over 10 mm, with 32 positions for the compression damping and 28 positions for rebound damping.
Wheels A further highlight are the high-quality, exclusive forged wheels. Forged 3.50 x 17" and 6.00 x 17" Marchesini rims, fitted with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP (120/70 ZR 17 front, 190/55 ZR 17 rear) establish new handling dimensions and outstanding traction.
Brakes High-end Brembo stoppers with two floating 320 mm discs (reinforced to 5 mm thickness), radial brake pump, four-piston monobloc callipers and single pads on the front wheel. Brembo two-piston fixed calliper with 220 mm disc on the rear wheel.
ONE GLANCE SAYS IT ALL: 100% HIGH SPEED DESIGN.
COCKPIT The multifunction cockpit impresses not only in day-to-day use a wide variety of information can also be called up quickly and clearly even on the race track. Just one glance and the pilots eye is automatically attracted to the milled, black anodised fork bridge. And the aerodynamically optimised windscreen now protects the rider even more efficiently from the headwinds when riding at high speeds.
BODYWORK The KTM 1190 RC8 R clearly distinguishes itself optically from the standard 1190 RC8 even at first sight. By contrast with the standard model, a powder-coated frame and several black-coated components (e.g. light-alloy swingarm, footrest, black brake callipers, etc.) provide a spectacular and unique R appearance.
LAY DOWN A MARK OF YOUR SUPERIORITY.
You know your abilities and those of your RC8. You are willing to push both of you to your physical limits. To merge with your machine, every second, every curve, every situation. Every road belongs to you when youre astride this all-rounder leave your mark!

MODELS

BLACK OR WHITE OR ORANGE. DECISION TIME!

ORANGE

1190 RC8
QUICKENS THE PULSE. EVEN JUST READING ABOUT IT.
ENGINE Based on the lightest and most modern series-production twin-cylinder ever, a completely new engine was developed for the 1190 RC8 that represents a perfect example of the ultimate combination of high peak performance and enormous torque reserves. Producing a maximum of 155 hp at 10,000 rpm, 120 Nm torque and weighing only 62 kg, the latest LC8 engine generation is the ideal powerhouse for a superbike.
EXHAUST SYSTEM The sophisticated underfloor exhaust system is one of the many RC8 engineering highlights. Apart from an optimum power development and the favourable installation position for the bikes centre of gravity, the solution guarantees a minimum sound level while the catalytic converter ensures easy compliance with the Euro 3 emission limits.

CHASSIS

SUSPENSION Linkage system with race-ready monoshock infinitely variable spring preload, 28-step rebound damping and compression damping adjustable separately for low/high speeds.
WHEELS In order to transmit the unique performance to the road, the 1190 RC8 is fitted with super-sporty Pirelli Dragon Supercorsa Pro tyres (120/70 ZR17 front and 190/55 ZR 17 rear). Together with the two light-alloy five-spoke cast wheels with the dimensions 3.5 x 17" and 6.0 x 17" front and rear respectively, they ensure optimum contact with the asphalt. Here the pure racing power meets balanced riding characteristics and perfect handling.
EVERY DETAIL A SYMBOL. OF YOUR SUPERIORITY.
FORK It goes without saying that no compromises were made either in the reliability of the forks. With the 43 mm WP upside-down forks, the 1190 RC8 has high-tech elements that offer innumerable possibilities for an exact set-up thanks to its 10 mm spring adjustment. There are also 32 positions for the compression damping and 28 positions for the rebound damping.

BRAKES Top-class components from Brembo wherever you look guarantee vehement deceleration under all conditions: At the front wheel, two 320 mm floating discs in combination with radially mounted four-piston monobloc callipers and four individual pads ensure optimum application and immense reserves. The brakes are actuated by means of a radial brake pump. The rear wheel is effectively stopped by a two-piston fixed calliper and a 220 mm brake disc.
THE FIRST CONTACT: SIMPLY SUPERNATURAL.
BODYWORK No matter from which side you approach the KTM 1190 RC8, the impression is always the same: exceptional, trendsetting and one thing in particular extremely fast!! A superbike that impresses not only with its performance, but also with its state-of-the-art appearance. Every detail has been tuned 100% for speed and performance, everything uncompromisingly oriented to success. A powerful appearance. A powerful start.
ERGONOMICS The RC8 offers a complete range of possibilities for individually adapting the riders position. For perfect adjustment of the workplace, the height of the rear end can be varied by 20 mm, while the handlebars and footrests can also be adjusted vertically. Further details for a perfect riding position: the four adjustable control levers.
