MAKE THE CORRECT CONNECTIONS. Failure to make the proper connections may result in fire or product damage. USE THIS PRODUCT FOR MOBILE 12V APPLICATIONS. Use for other than its designed application may result in fire, electric shock or other injury. CHECK THAT THE CAMERA MOUNTING BRACKET IS ATTACHED SECURELY, AND THAT THE SCREWS ARE TIGHT BEFORE DRIVING. Failure to do so may result in an accident. WHEN INSTALLING THE CAMERA, OR WHEN CHECKING IT IS INSTALLED SECURELY, DO SO AFTER PARKING THE CAR IN A LEVEL, SAFE PLACE, TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, AND APPLYING THE HAND BRAKE. Failure to do so may result in an accident. WHEN USING A DRILL TO MAKE A HOLE, TAKE PRECAUTIONS SUCH AS WEARING GOGGLES SO FRAGMENTS DO NOT GET INTO THE EYES. Failure to do so may result in injury. HALT USE IMMEDIATELY IF A PROBLEM APPEARS. Failure to do so may cause personal injury or damage to the product. Return it to your authorized Alpine dealer or the nearest Alpine Service Center for repairing. EXCEPT FOR THE REARVIEW CAMERA ITSELF, DO NOT ATTACH ANY PARTS TO AREAS WHICH WILL GET WET, OR WHERE THERE IS A LOT OF HUMIDITY OR DUST. Failure to do so may result in fire or damage. DO NOT ATTACH THE CAMERA MOUNTING BRACKET TO FLUOROCARBON RESIN FINISHED CAR BODIES OR GLASS. Doing so could cause the strength of the camera mounting bracket to weaken, which could cause it to fall of and cause accidents, injury, or damage to the car body. DO NOT ATTACH THE CAMERA MOUNTING BRACKET TO ANY SURFACE WHERE THE ENTIRE ADHESIVE SURFACE CANNOT BE APPLIED. Doing so could cause the strength of the camera mounting bracket to weaken, which could cause it to fall of and cause accidents, injury, or damage to the car body.
WARNING
This symbol means important instructions. Failure to heed them can result in serious injury or death.
WHEN REVERSING THE CAR, CHECKING BEHIND AND AROUND THE CAR MUST BE DONE VISUALLY BY THE DRIVER. The rearview camera assists the driver in checking behind by sending images to the screen showing conditions behind the car. The camera uses a wide-angle lens, therefore, there is a difference in distance perspective between what is normally seen and what appears on the screen. Also, the images shown by the camera are reversed, so as to appear the same as what is seen through the rearview mirror. DO NOT DISASSEMBLE OR ALTER. Doing so may result in an accident, fire or electric shock. KEEP SMALL OBJECTS SUCH AS SCREWS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. Swallowing them may result in serious injury. If swallowed, consult a physician immediately. USE THE CORRECT AMPERE RATING WHEN REPLACING FUSES. Failure to do so may result in fire or electric shock. USE ONLY IN CARS WITH A 12 VOLT NEGATIVE GROUND. (Check with your dealer if you are not sure.) Failure to do so may result in fire, etc. BEFORE WIRING, DISCONNECT THE CABLE FROM THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL. Failure to do so may result in electric shock or injury due to electrical shorts. DO NOT USE BOLTS OR NUTS IN THE BRAKE OR STEERING SYSTEMS TO MAKE GROUND CONNECTIONS. Bolts or nuts used for the brake or steering systems (or any other safety-related system), or tanks should NEVER be used for installations or ground connections. Using such parts could disable control of the vehicle and cause fire etc. DO NOT DAMAGE PIPE OR WIRING WHEN DRILLING HOLES. When drilling holes in the chassis for installation, take precautions so as not to contact, damage or obstruct pipes, fuel lines, tanks or electrical wiring. Failure to take such precautions may result in fire.
AVERTISSEMENT

PRECAUTIONS
Do not assert any excess pressure to the camera or the mounting, as this could cause the camera direction to shift, or the camera mounting bracket to come off. To prevent the camera lens, mounting and cords from changing color or shape, or from deteriorating, wipe with a chemical-free, damp cloth. When washing the car, do not using an automatic car washer, or high-pressure washer. Doing so could cause the camera to come off, damage to the camera cord, or may allow water to enter the camera or the inside of the car. Be sure to disconnect the cable from the () battery post before installing your HCE-C105. This will reduce any chance of damage to the unit in case of a short-circuit. Be sure to connect the color coded leads according to the diagram. Incorrect connections may cause the unit to malfunction or damage to the vehicle's electrical system. When making connections to the vehicle's electrical system, be aware of the factory installed components (e.g. on-board computer). Do not tap into these leads to provide power for this unit. When connecting the HCE-C105 to the fuse box, make sure the fuse for the intended circuit of the HCE-C105 has the appropriate amperage. Failure to do so may result in damage to the unit and/or the vehicle. When in doubt, consult your Alpine dealer. In some cases, to attach the camera, a hole must be drilled in the car body, requiring use of touch-up paint (retail product) for rustprevention, and should be prepared beforehand.

Retrofit Your Old Car with a Rear-View Camera
The HCE-C105 rear-view camera and new KTX-C10LP license plate mounting kit from Alpine
Alpine HCE-C105 rear-view camera Alpine
Given the fact that the automotive industry is without a doubt going through one of the worst periods in its long history, with fewer and fewer people willing to purchase a new vehicle, the various car accessory manufacturers are trying their best in order to come up with certain products that will also work on the consumers' old cars. And that's exactly the case with Alpine and its HCE-C105 rear-view camera and new KTX-C10LP license plate mounting kit, which can be easily installed into any vehicle and provide users with the necessary level of visibility in order to inform them regarding what's going on behind their cars. First of all, it's important to mention that the HCE-C105 rear-view camera works quite fine with pretty much any in-dash screen that has a video input. However, since not that many old vehicles come with such an accessory, users can always opt for a monitor-based unit (either one from Alpine or from another manufacturer, as long as the connectivity interfaces match). The only major compatibility-related issue mentioned by Alpine is the fact that, when used with an Alpine in-dash system, the camera is automatically triggered and the rear view is displayed on-screen when the vehicle is placed in reverse. The camera provides good quality images in any light conditions due to the built-in automatic brightness sensor and white balance feature, while offering some pretty good viewing angles, namely 138 degrees on the horizontal direction and 105 degrees on vertical. Moreover, it has a very slim form factor (1-inch thick) and can be easily mounted anywhere within the vehicle. However, since we've reached the installation issue, we must also talk about the KTX-C10LP license plate mounting kit. This kit offers easy camera placement and optimum viewing when backing up and is manufactured from cast metal with rust-resistant coating. Additionally, the frame has built-in LED lights to illuminate the license plate in applications where the original license plate light may be blocked by the camera, and has an adjustable camera tilt angle of 45 degrees for optimal viewing angle positioning. The people who wish to take advantage of the system provided by Alpine will be able to do so by purchasing the HCE-C105 rear-view camera for $220 and the KTX-C10LP license plate mounting kit for around 60 US dollars, the latter becoming available later on in January. However, things are a little bit more complicated for those people whose cars don't have an in-dash screen, who will be forced to cough up more money in order to get themselves one of the monitor-based units mentioned above.
