For the money the Panasonic is really excellent. Good quality camera at a good price & GREAT ZOOM This camcorder is fantastic!!!!! It has an incredible clear zoom, it records steady even with a shaky hand. Its so light and easy to carry around.

very good buy Looking for a quality but reasonably priced handy cam and found this, does everything you need and more. Delighted with my purchase I wanted an affordable Camcorder with a good zoom and wide angle lens. This is exactly what I was looking for.

Panasonic SDR S50 This camcorder looks great and is very easy to use. BUT the video quality is poor. Worse than my previous Panasonic DV camcorder.

However, with long-distance zoom shots, even a tiny bit of hand-shake has a huge effect on picture quality. That's where Advanced O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization) comes in. It shifts a corrective lens as you shoot to help eliminate the effects of hand-shake, so you get clear, sharp shots even at high zoom levels. It's an essential feature for getting the most out of this incredible zoom lens.
