Before Switching on your TV

Power connection

IMPORTANT: The TV set is designed to operate on 230-240V AC, 50 Hz. After unpacking, allow the TV set to reach the ambient room temperature before you connect the set to the mains.
Replace the battery cover.

NOTE: Remove batteries from remote control handset when it is not to be used for a long period.Otherwise it can be damaged due to any leakage of batteries.

Switching the TV ON/OFF

To switch the TV on

Your TV will switch on in two steps: 1- Press the power button located on the front of the TV. The TV switches itself to standby mode and the RED LED located below the TV illuminates. 2- To switch on the TV from stand-by mode either: Press a digit button on the remote control so that a programme number is selected, or, Press Programme Up or Down buttons on the front of the TV or on the remote control, so that last switched off programme is selected. By either method the TV will switch on and the RED LED will turn GREEN.

Connect the aerial or cable TV plug to the Aerial socket located at the back of the TV. If you are also connecting a VCR, plug the aerial cable into the aerial input socket on the VCR and then connect the RF output cable from the RF out socket on the VCR to the TV aerial socket. See Page 20 for further details.

How to connect other devices
IMPORTANT: Switch off the TV before connecting any external device. Sockets for external connections are at the back and front of the TV. For connection of other devices via Euroconnector refer to the manuals of the related devices.

To switch the TV off

Press the stand-by button on the remote control, so the TV will switch to stand-by mode and the GREEN LED will become RED, or, Press the power button located on the front of the TV, so the TV will switch off and the GREEN LED will turn off. N.B. Ensure that the DVD tray is closed before you turn the TV off or the tray will stay out.
Inserting batteries in the remote control handset
Place the batteries in the right directions as seen below. Remove the battery cover located on the back of the handset by gently pulling upwards from the indicated part. Insert two AAA (R03) or equivalent type batteries inside.

Operating the TV
You can operate your TV both using the remote control handset and onset buttons. N.B. To be able to use TV functions by using remote controller first of all press TV button on the remote controller.
Operating with the buttons on the TV set
Volume setting and programme selection can be made using the buttons on the front panel. Volume Setting button to decrease volume or Press + button to increase volume, so a vol ume level scale (slider) will be displayed at the middle of the bottom on the screen. + and but By pressing both the tons at the same time you can enter Main menu. Programme Selecting Press P/CH + button to select the next programme or - P/CH button to select the previous programme. Entering Main Menu Press "MENU" button to enter Main menu. A.P.S. (Automatic Programming System)
"PLEASE, CHECK ANTENNA CABLE. AUTO PROGRAMMING SYSTEM" message will be displayed when you turn on your TV for the first time. APS, searches and sorts all channels and stores them automatically on your TV, according to the transmission of programme systems in your area. To cancel APS before starting, press 79 button. First of all choose the COUNTRY. This, will effect the sort process in APS. To select START use or button and press or button. To cancel APS during running press or button.

Programme Menu

To enter Programme menu directly, press the "INFO" button, or Press "MENU" button, now you are in Main menu. In the Main menu, select PROGRAM. using or button. Then enter the Programme menu pressing or button.

FREQUENCY can be changed by or button, by the Digit buttons or by the Double Digit button with digit buttons. The decimal value in frequency can not be changed by the digit buttons, it can be changed only by the or button. The value can be 00, 25, 50 and 75. Also
By moving the cursor in 4 directions, you can reach 30 programmes in the same page. By scrolling the pages up or down by pressing the navigation buttons you can select all the programmes in TV mode (except the AV mode).

In menus, or buttons are working like "Direction Up" and "Direction Down". By cursor action, programme selection is done automatically. Selected programme is displayed with CYAN characters. In order to select programme is also possible by using digit or double-digit button. In this way programme selection is automatic and after selection the selected programme is displayed with cyan characters. The TV Status is changed by the programme selection too. When using double-digit button in order to select a programme, the Programme Number in TV Status OSD is displayed in "P --" form, and by pressing digit buttons they are displayed. Programme Number is between 00 and 99. Programme Name has a name string with 5 characters. After autostore process the Programme Names are set to: Frequency search "PR01" (programme number), At the bottom of the menu there is a programme sort functions section. Each function is activated by colour button (seen above). NAME allows changing the programme name. By DELETE you can delete programmes that you have selected. INSERT section is for inserting programmes into another programme spaces. By selecting AUTOSTORE section, A.P.S. menu will be available. To change the name of a decided programme, that programme is selected and pressed to the RED button (NAME). The first letter begins to blank on the selected name. To change that letter or button can be used, and to select the other letters, or button can be used. If the cursor is at the last letter of the Programme Name, pressing button moves the cursor at the beginning. On the contrary, if the cursor is at the beginning of the Programme Name, pressing button moves the cursor at the end.

Personal Preferences (PP)
All the preset values will be restored, when pressing "PP".

Picture Mode Indicator

This OSD is displayed under the programme number OSD at the same time with TV status OSDs. For Picture Mode 4:3 For Picture Mode 16:9 For Picture Mode AUTO
Sleep Timer Last Minute Indicator
It is displayed on the upper right of the screen. If sleep timer is activated it is displayed with the TV status and erased with it after 3 seconds.

When there is only one minute left of the timer countdown, it will be displayed automatically on the upper right of the screen and will stay there until the countdown has finished. The TV will then go to standby.

Volume Bar

It is displayed in the lower middle of the screen. When a volume command is received (pressing VOL+ or VOL- by Remote Control or Front panel) and no menu is active, it stays on the screen for 3 seconds, after the last volume command or until another command is received in between.

Mute Indicator

It is placed in the upper middle of the screen when enabled, and it stays there until it is disabled.
To cancel mute, there are two alternatives; the first one is pressing to " " button, thus volume is set to the preceding value, and the second one is increasing the volume level, thus it starts at the minimum level to increase. By decreasing the volume level in mute state, mute will not be ignored, only the volume level will decrease. If mute canceled after decreasing the volume level, the volume will return at the decreased level.

AV Modes

By pressing the $9 button you can switch your TV to AV modes (except in Teletext). Pressing this button consecutively TV will switch to the AV modes: DVD, AV-1, F-AV, RGB.
AV-1 supports the RGB mode. But if there is some colour problem in AV-1 mode, please force the AV mode to RGB mode. In order to quit the AV mode press the 79 ,

No-Signal
No-Signal Timer Indicator It is displayed in the middle of the screen when no valid signal detected. It shows the remaining time for switching to the Stand-By mode (it takes 5 minutes when no valid signal detected or no Remote Control command is accessed). The indicator is displayed for 3 seconds when there is no valid signal. After a Remote Control command (if No-Signal Timer is active) the timer stops and if no signal detected again the timer is initialized to 5 minutes and after 3 seconds starts to countdown again. It is not valid in AV mode.

Blue Background During No-Signal
In case, no valid signal is detected AV mode Blue Background is activated.During search process Blue Background is not active. But instead of it there is another feature given;

Teletext
Teletext is an information system that displays text on your TV screen. Using the Teletext information system you can view a page of information on a subject that is available in the list of contents (index). On screen display is not available in text mode. Contrast, brightness or colour control is not available, but volume control is available in text mode.

To Select Index Page

To select the page number of the index (generally page 100), press button.
To Select Teletext with a TV Programme
Press button. The text is now superimposed over the programme on the screen. button again to return to the Press Teletext page.

To operate Teletext

Select a TV station on which Teletext is being transmitted. Press (TELETEXT) button. Usually the list of contents (index) is displayed on the screen.
Searching for a page while watching TV
While Teletext Mode is on, pressing will change the mode to TV, one more will change the mode from press to TV to the latest Teletext page we left. In the TV mode enter a page number using digit keys. As you enter digits first line of teletext page will appear on top screen and will remain there until the requested page is found. Then teletext line will be replaced by page number to indicate that page has been found. Now you can display this tele button. text page pressing
To select a page of Teletext
Press the appropriate digit buttons for the required Teletext page number. The selected page number is displayed at the top left corner of the screen. The Teletext page counter searches until the selected page number is located, so that the desired page is displayed on the screen. Press button to move the Teletext screen forward one page at a time. Press button to move the Teletext screen backward one page at a time.
To Select Double Height Text
Press button for the top half of the information page to be displayed in double height text. Press button again for the bottom half of the information page to be displayed in double height text. Press button once more for the full page of normal height text.
To Reveal concealed Information
Pressing button once will reveal answers on a quiz or games page. Pressing button again will conceal the revealed answers.

To Stop Automatic Page Change
The teletext page you have selected may contain more information than what is on the screen; the rest of the information will be displayed after a period of time. button to stop the automatic Press page change. button again to allow the next Press page to be displayed.

Press button to move the Teletext screen backward one page at a time. For Fastext The subject-heading for the information may have a particular colour. Press an appropriate RED, GREEN, YELLOW or BLUE button in order to reach the relevant page quickly.

To Select a Subcode Page

Subcode pages are subsections of long Teletext pages that can only be displayed on the screen one section at a time. Select the required Teletext page. Press button. Select the required subcode page number by pressing four digit buttons (e.g. 0001). If the selected subcode page is not dis button. played in a short time, press TV programme will be displayed on the screen. To exit Teletext

Press 79 button. The screen will switch to TV mode.

To Display the Time

While watching a TV programme with Teletext transmission press button. The current time information, captured from Teletext will be displayed at the upper middle of the screen. If the programme being watched does not have Teletext transmission, no iformation will be displayed.
Connect Peripheral Equipment
There is a wide range of audio and video equipment that can be connected to your TV. The following connection diagrams show you where the different equipment should be connected at the back or the front side of the TV.

Via the Euroconnector

Your TV set has a Euroconnector socket. If you want to connect peripherals (e.g. video, decoder, etc.) which have Euroconnector, to your TV, use SCART input. If an external device is connected via Euroconnector socket TV is switched to AV mode automatically. If the signal is RGB then the RGB OSD indicator is displayed on the screen. In AV mode if you press the INFO button the TV status OSD is displayed on the screen.

Fastext

Your CTV supports the 7 page Teletext system. When the page number of any of the 7 pages in memory is entered, the system will not search for the requested page; instead it will display the page automatically. Press button to move the Teletext screen forward one page at a time.

Via Aerial Input
If you want to connect to your TV, peripherals like video recorders or decoders, but the device you want to connect does not have Euroconnector, you should connect it to the aerial input of your TV set. If the VCR is connected via aerial input it is suggested to use Programme 0.
Search for and store the test signal of the video recorder
Unplug the aerial cable from the aerial socket ANT of your video recorder. Switch on your TV and put the video recorder on the test signal. (See the handbook for your video recorder.) Enter the Tuning menu via the Install menu. Search for the test signal of your video recorder in the same way as you searched for and stored the TV signals. See Tuning, Search and Store TV channels. Store the test signal under programme number 0. Replace the aerial cable in the aerial socket ANT of your video recorder once you have stored the test signal.

SUBTITLE = Changes the language of the subtitle while playing a DVD if supported by the disc. = Mute SEARCH = Press to select the unit for search (title, chapter, track, index, time etc.) if not prohibited by the disc. +10 = To enter 2-digit numbers SELECT = Okey = Cursor Left = Turns on and off the power of the player.
DISPLAY = Displays the content menu during playback or displays the set-up menu during Stop & Resume mode. ZOOM = Zooms the picture by 2x while playing DVD/VIDEO CD. Pressing zoom button again disables zoom mode. PROG = Press to enter the program edit menu for audio CD and MP3. TIME = Changes the playing time display mode of the disc, title, track etc., on the OSD and front panel display. RETURN = Press the return to the preceding selection screen, etc. During VCD playback, shows the VCD menu if it exists and Go Up On Screen indicator appears. = Skip Next OPEN/CLOSE = Eject = Skip Back TITLE = Displays the title menu of the DVD if supported by the disc. = Stop = Search Forward
= Play / Pause = Search Back ANGLE = Changes the angles when playing a DVD if supported by the disc. C = Clear AUDIO = Changes the language of the sound while playing a DVD if supported by the disc.

DVD Control Panel Buttons and Rear Panel
Disc Tray = Place a disc on the tray when tray is open. = Plays/pauses the disc. When DVD menu (root menu or title menu) is active, this button functions as button select (selects the highlighted item in menu) if this is not prohibited by the disc. = Stop (Stop playing disc.) = Open / Close (Opens or closes the disc tray.)

Press SELECT button to start full-screen playback of the selected scene. Press SKIP/FRAME buttons in order to display next or previous 9 scenes in digest mode. Press TITLE button to cancel the digest mode. Track When you select TRACK option, unit goes into digest mode and 9 pictures which show different scenes from the first track, are displayed on the screen. Using the arrow keys, a picture can be selected. When it is focused, the picture starts playing within the frame. Press SELECT button to start playing of the selected scene. Press SKIP/FRAME buttons in order to display 9 scenes of next or previous track. Press TITLE button to cancel the digest mode. Exit Use this option to quit menu.
For your reference: When symbol appears while a button is being operated, it means that the player prohibits the corresponding operation. Stopping Play Press stop twice. For your convenience: When STOP ( ) is pressed once, while the play continues, the unit records the point where the play stopped and if the PLAY ( ) key is pressed, play resumes from the point where STOP ( ) key was pressed. Press PLAY/PAUSE ( ) again, and play will resume from this point. When the tray is opened or the STOP ( ) is pressed again, the RESUME function will be cleared.
To stop the play permanently, press STOP ( ) twice. When the STOP ( ) button is pressed for the first time, a message PRESS PLAY TO CONTINUE will appear on the screen to remind you if you want to continue the play. To stop the play, press the STOP ( ) button again or you can press PLAY/PAUSE (

Audio CD Playback

Basic Play 1. Switch the TV on (Please see Page 7). 2. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray. 3. Place a disc onto the tray Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces, position it with the printed title side facing up, align it with the guides, and place it in its proper position. 4. Press OPEN/CLOSE. Play is commenced. After operation When the unit is not in use, remove the disc. NOTE: If the disc is placed in upside down (and it is a single sided disc) BAD DISC is displayed on the screen.
Press SEARCH/SLOW ( Fast reverse or Fast forward) on the remote control during play. The speed of advance (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x) or reverse (2x, 4x, 8x, 16x) changes for every or button. You can also press of the resume normal play using these buttons. Normal play is resumed when the PLAY/ PAUSE (

Displaying the time information Press TIME during play. Each time this button is pressed, an information box is displayed on TV screen. If Single elapsed is displayed, the elapsed time for the track which is being played will be displayed. If Single remain is displayed, the remaining time for the track which is being played will be displayed. If Total elapsed is displayed, the elapsed time for the disc which is being played will be displayed. If Total remain is displayed, the remaining time for the disc which is being played will be displayed. Program Function Press STOP button if it's playing. Press PROG to select program mode. Enter the track numbers that you want to add to program list. For the track numbers which are greater than "9", use "+10" button. Press this button once and then type the two digit track number. Press PLAY/PAUSE button to finish the program entry. Screen is cleared and it will start playing the program list. NOTE: If you attempt to enter a number greater than the total number of tracks on disc, it clears the numbers and waits for you to enter again. You can remove the last track of the playlist by pressing the C button. The program is cancelled when: - The disc tray is opened or closed - The power is turned off.

Intro Menu

Press STOP button if it is playing. Press MENU button in order to see menu. This menu contains: 1. Intro 2. Shuffle On/Off 3. Program 4. Exit Intro Intro menu is used for introducing the contents of the disc. When you select INTRO option, it plays only first 10 seconds of each track and then passes to the next track. After the last track it stops playing. Shuffle When you set SHUFFLE on, it plays the tracks once in a random order. Program When you select PROGRAM option, it activates the program mode. Exit Use this option to quit menu.

CD Menu

To see the directory structure(menu) of JPEG/MP3 CDs you should set CD MENU option to WITH MENU in setup page. If CD MENU option is set to NO MENU, MP3 or JPEG content is automatically played without displaying menu.

Basic Play

1. Switch the TV on (Please see Page 7). 2. Press OPEN/CLOSE to open the disc tray 3. Place a CD-R disc onto the tray Hold the disc without touching either of its surfaces, position it with the printed title side facing up, align it with the guides, and place it in its proper position.

4. Press OPEN/CLOSE to close the disc tray DISC LOADING message appears on screen. Please wait for a moment. CD MENU appears. Directories are on the left part and files in the selected directory are on the right part. 5. Press / to select files In the stop mode you can navigate in all directories. If an MP3 track is playing, only the current directory can be used for navigation. / 6. Press SELECT between directories & files On the right part : On the right part press RETURN to go to parent directory. Press (LEFT) to switch to directories. On the left part: (RIGHT) or SELECT to switch to Press files. Selected directory is displayed on the right after reading directory. First item is highlighted initially. 7. Press SELECT on a file to play MP3 File : Selected MP3 starts to play. Elapsed or Remaining Time is displayed according to TIME Mode. JPG File : Selected JPEG is displayed in full screen. Slide Show starts automatically. to switch

Only for MP3 : Press / during play to decrease/ increase play speed.
FR 16x, FR 8x, FR 4x, FR 2x, PLAY, FF 2x, FF 4x, FF 8x, FF 16x are the play speed modes. NOTE: No sound will be heard during rapid advance or rapid reverse.
Press / during play to jump to the previous/next file.
Next file in the current directory will be played.

Image transformation

Only for JPEG : Press PLAY (
Invert Left Right These operations are allowed only when a picture is being displayed normally, and will be cancelled automatically when a new picture is displayed. The arrow keys are used to select different transformation modes. Press

There are three modes of transformation:

) to start slide show It is provided both ZOOM in/out and Zoom pan functions for JPEG pictures. Press ZOOM to turn on/off this function When this mode is on, any picture will be displayed at the last ratio selected by the user. A message will indicate the current ratio on screen.
The play suspends. PAUSE message appears on screen. To return to normal play press PLAY/ PAUSE (
Stopping Play Press STOP (

Play Modes

1. Press STOP ( 2. Press ). to go to Play Modes menu.
The zoom ratios are 50% and 75% for zoom out and 100%, 133%, 150% and 200% for zoom in. (The order is: 50%, 75%, 100%, 133%, 150%, 200%) With ZOOM mode off, a picture is scaled to fit the whole screen. NOTE: During ZOOM function, image transformation is disabled.
3. Press SELECT to change play mode. The options available are: FOLDER NORMAL: IWhen this play mode is selected, the current folder will be played once. FOLDER REPEAT: IWhen this play mode is selected, the current folder will be repeated continuously. DISC SCAN: When this Play mode is selected, the first 10 seconds of all tracks disc will be played for MP3 files. DISC NORMAL: When this Play mode is selected, the disc will be played once. DISC REPEAT: When this Play mode is selected, the disc will be played continuously. SHUFFLE: When this Play mode is selected, the tracks in the current folder will be played once in a random order. SINGLE TRACK: If this option is chosen, the selected track will be played only once. REPEAT TRACK If this option is chosen, the selected track will be repeated continuously.

Digest Mode

Only for JPEG : Press PLAY ( ) to start slide show Press TITLE button during JPEG slide show. Unit goes into digest mode. 9 pictures are displayed on screen. Using the arrow keys, a picture can be selected. Press SELECT button to display the selected picture. or buttons in order to disPress play next or previous "9" pictures in digest mode. Press TITLE button to cancel the digest mode.

AUDIO SETUP

DYNAMIC (Dynamic Range Compression ): Boosts frequency response.This item can be selected between OFF and FULL. LPCM OUT: This item can be selected as "LPCM 96K" or "LPCM 48K". Note: Downmix and DTS Output are not available on this model.

LANGUAGE SETUP

NORMAL / LB (4x3 Letterbox): Allows you to see movies in their original aspect ratio. You will see the entire frame of the movie, but it will occupy a smaller portion of the screen. Audio, disc menu and subtitle items will not be available if the player is in RESUME (PreStop) mode. OSD LANG: You can select the default OSD language of the player menus AUDIO: You can select the default audio language if supported by the DVD disc. DISC MENU: You can select the DVDs disc menu language among these languages. Disc menu appears in the selected language, if supported by the DVD disc. SUBTITLE: You can select the default subtitle language if supported by the DVD disc.
WIDE (Wide screen 16x9): Depending on the format of the DVD disc. (eg. 2.35:1) the picture may still have black lines above and below this picture.

PARENTAL SETUP

PARENTAL SETUP page will not be available if the player is in RESUME (Pre-Stop) mode.

Playing some DVDs can be limited depending on the age of users. The Parental Control function allows playback limitation level to be set by the parent. PARENTAL SETUP (Parental Level): Parental Level can be adjusted to one of the eight levels or "NO PARENTAL". "NO PARENTAL" or level 8 ADULT adjustment let you watch all of the DVD titles ignoring the DVD discs parental level. You can watch the DVD discs, which has the same or lower parental level than the players level only. PASSWORD: Password to change the parental level can be set by using this option. You have to set a XXXX digital password when you select a parental level for the first time. You have to enter your password every time you want to change the parental level. If you forget your password please contact technical service. Change Password: Using this item you can change the current password. To change the password you will be prompted to enter your old password. After you have entered your old password, you can now enter the new 4-digit password. You can use C key to delete the incorrect entry.
