Was a Christmas present and the person the gift was for saw it on the porch with pictures of what it was.

Great for the price It is a great buy for an entry level Blu-ray disc player with Sony name on it. 2 Months - stopped working After 2 months of usubg a total of about 5 times -- the unit no longer works unhelpful audio settings A great player overall, and I think it does an excellent job of upscaling. Not the fastest load time but not unbearably slow.

This is my first blu-ray player. It works perfectly and my daughter loves the Disney movies that came with it. It is an excellent deal. Got the unit, updated the firmware, plugged it in, and changed a few of the audio and video settings to fit my preferences. Bad idea.

very good value great price; small footprint; good picture on both blu-ray and standard dvds; remote also works on non-Sony tv; plugged into router a... Looks great when it works, it truly is a Blu Ray player, just not a very good one considering the price. Looks.

Got it from Bydig for 127 - you may see much better deal in 2010.I have Sony BDP-BX2 from Costco and it came with backlit remote and HDMI cable. Was a Christmas present and the person the gift was for saw it on the porch with pictures of what it was.

I would recommend this product, especially if... I am using the player in conjunction with a Sony TV and sound system. It works great.

For $ this is probably the best bargain out there. I know it is not cheap - but - at under $300 it is a steal. Blu-ray picture is clean.

It's possible that you also have a bad emitter resistor or other small parts bad in the amp circuit. That said, if the main fuse(s) for the output side of the power transformer are blown, it will seem to turn on normally, but with no display, since the 30V line is derived from the power amp power supply. These fuses are often hidden under a circuit board attached to the power transformer. Mark Z.

Sony's STR-DE345 is Dolby Digital "ready" and has some impressive features to match. The perfect source component for this receiver is a DVD player with a built-in Dolby Digital and/or DTS processor. Simply connect the 5.1 analog audio outputs (front left, front right, center, surround left, surround right, and subwoofer) into the 5.1 channel input panel on the back of the receiver, and you've got a Digital Home Theater. You'll also appreciate Sony's exclusive Digital Cinema Sound, which was developed at Sony Pictures Studios soundstages in Hollywood. You get lifelike, theater-quality realism and excitement. Dolby Pro Logic Processor decodes 2-channel Dolby Surround-encoded into 4 discrete channels (left, center, right, surround), creating a movie theater-like surround experience in the home. Dolby 3 Stereo decodes 2-channel Dolby Surround-encoded soundtracks into 3 discrete channels (left, center, right), allowing more accurate placement of sounds across the front than conventional 2-channel stereo. Digital Cinema Sound is Sony's exclusive sound field processing. DCS includes the acoustic environments of three post-production dubbing stages in Hollywood and Virtual 3D technology that create home theater sound as the director intended. Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is a circuit that reproduces movies and music in the appropriate setting: for example, movies in a Theater, classical music in a Hall, rock music in an Arena. Bass + Treble Controls allow you to adjust the bass (lower) and treble (higher) frequencies of the music to your own individual listening tastes. When reproducing sound through a two- or three- front speaker system, a product equipped with the Virtual 3D Surround (Virtual Dolby) system generates amazingly rich and convincing virtual surround sound. The Dolby Digital, MPEG2 or Dolby Pro Logic surround channel is processed by a 'virtualizer' DSP to create a realistic surround effect from just the front speakers. Pink Noise Generator allows for proper speaker balancing. It sends a static noise signal, in turn, to each channel, allowing you to adjust each channel's level and volume for the size of your environment and your listening preferences.
