AKG C 451 B (Classic SM DIAPH Condenser Mic)AKG - Condenser - Unidirectional - Mono
The predecessor to the AKG C 451 B microphone was the classic C 451 EB + CK1 studio mic that was a bestseller discontinued in '93. The C 451 B mic provides identical acoustical behavior to the CK1, with dramatically improved specs. It features a precise, nearly frequency-independent cardioid pattern, a transformerless output stage, selectable 10dB and 20dB preattenuation pads, and switchable high-pass filter. Operates on phantom power.

| This is an excellent high-capacity printer. I... inexpensive to run. Xerox always has good products Networking optional, but can bypass that with a few tricks | |

C 451 B
Studio Cardioid Condenser Microphone Description
The C 451 B is the latest model in the C 451 series that dates back to 1969. It is a cardioid only design with a permanently fixed capsule (a departure from the previous modular system). The acoustics of the original cardioid capsule, CK 1, are modeled and matched in the current version, producing the unique overall rising frequency characteristics. The rise is no more than 3 dB and is broadly centered around 12 kHz. Its transformerless preamp uses surface mount technology and, therefore is lighter, yet more rugged than its predecessor. Switchable 10 and 20 dB pads are now integrated. Maximum sound pressure levels in the range of 155 dB (in the 20 dB sensitivity position) can be attained with no greater than 0.5% distortion. A selectable low frequency, or bass roll-off option, provides 12 dB per octave attenuation below 75 or 150 Hz. The C 451 B, like its predecessor, is most commonly used in studio and tour sound applications such as micing choirs, drums, percussion and acoustic guitars. It is available as a single piece or in computer matched stereo pairs, and operates on all phantom voltages between 9 and 52 volts. The SA 40 stand adapter and W 90 windscreen are included as standard accessories.

Identical acoustics of the legendary CK 1. Rugged construction. Ruler-flat on-axis frequency response. Precise, nearly frequency independent cardioid. Extremely accurate signal transfer. Transformerless output stage for minimum distortion at low frequencies. Protected against electrostatic and magnetic interference. Selectable 10-dB and 20-dB preattenuation pads. Switchable highpass filter (75 Hz or 150 Hz, 12 dB/octave). Operates on phantom power to DIN/IEC between 12 V and 48 V. Complete with SA 40 stand adapter and W 90 windscreen. Each microphone comes with its own individual frequency response plot.
A classic by now, the CMS Series CK 1 capsule from AKG was a best seller from the moment it was launched in 1969. Comprising a range of interchangeable capsules and preamps as well as then innovative, dedicated accessories, the CMS Series from AKG quickly became a legend. It was discontinued in 1993. Responding to growing demand from recording engineers, AKG decided to produce the C 451 B with identical acoustical behaviour of the popular original C 451 EB + CK 1 microphone again, with dramatically improved specifications and outstanding price/performance. The capsule of the new version is fixed permanently to the preamp to eliminate the mechanical problems of the screw joint. Using an extremely light diaphragm, the new C 451 B is almost totally insensitive to handling noise. An all-metal body provides excellent protection from RF interference and the microphone is rugged enough to give excellent results even under very harsh conditions. The C 451B is an excellent tool for accurately capturing signals rich in transients such as drums, overhead miking, or other instruments with a percussive sound. The airy sound, high overload limit of the capsule and electronic circuitry, and improved engineering details of the C 451B are a solid foundation for creating another legend.

The capsule is permanently fixed to the preamp to increase overall stability under mechanical stress.
A switchable 10-dB/20-dB preattenuation pad increases the microphone's SPL capability when close-miking high-energy sound sources or driving preamps or mixers with limited headroom.
A switchable highpass filter at 75 Hz or 150 Hz prevents low-end distortion due, e.g., to rumble or wind noise.
