How do you get more power?
The highly efficient FSI combustion procedure was already used by Audi in motor racing. This performanceorientated direct petrol injection process not only offers dynamic response and agility in all speed ranges, but is also more economical due to the controlled fuel injection.
The proof: the 3.0-TFSI engine1 in the Audi A6. This V6 power plant develops 213 kW of power to take the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and balances this performance with good fuel consumption figures. A charging module enables the engine to unleash its full power at low engine speeds; power that, thanks to quattro and the sporty tiptronic gearbox, you are able to utilise to the full.
By building fuel-efficient engines.
The 4.2 litre V8 engine1 with a power output of 257 kW and a torque of 440 Nm is even more dynamic. The powerful lightweight engine with FSI direct fuel injection, maintenance-free chain drive and variable intake manifold accelerates the A6 saloon driven by quattro to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and onwards up to a limited top speed of 250 km/h. The results can be seen for themselves and are particularly evident when behind the wheel: the A6 has a sports car within.

Further engines are available for the Audi A6, which combine efficiency with performance in different ways. The V6 TDI engines use the latest generation of common rail systems. Piezo injectors inject the diesel fuel into the combustion chamber at pressures of up to 1,800 bar. Two charge air coolers with parallel flow create power that unfolds spontaneously and energetically. This means: active power reserves and superb elasticity with low fuel consumption.

SAFETY

How do you design a safe car?
The Audi A6 has a 2-stage driver and front-passenger airbag, front side airbags and a head airbag system as standard. Driver and front passenger airbags are triggered according to the severity of the accident, in order to achieve the greatest possible protection.
If one of the driving wheels spins on slippery ground, the Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) brakes the wheel and shifts the torque to the other wheel on the respective axle.
The Electronic Stabilization Programme (ESP) with its extended scope finally networks all systems and helps the driver to keep control of the vehicle. The improved cornering performance is supported by an

The front seat belts have an additional belt tensioning function. The integral head restraint system reduces the danger of whiplash in the event of a rear collision. ABS, ASR, EDL, EBD, ESP the full programme of active safety technology for the A6 serve to avoid the use of the passive safety systems. control is activated and adapts the engine power accordingly. The electronic brake booster EBD shortens the braking distance by distributing the braking force between the front and rear axles depending on the situation. The hydraulic Brake Assist provides the optimal braking force when it recognises that the driver is initiating a maximum braking process. Even here, the A6 can still be steered in a controlled manner, thanks to the ABS.

enhanced function that comes into operation in understeer situations; this involves braking the vehicle at all four wheels in critical driving situations. In the event of a particularly hard braking manoeuvre, the hazard lights are automatically activated to warn other road users as quickly as possible. The trailer stabilisation system uses the sensors of the Electronic Stabilization Programme to detect trailer sway caused, for example, by a spontaneous evasive manoeuvre, ruts in the road or side winds and reduce the risk of the vehicle/trailer combination skidding. An automatic braking action decelerates the vehicle/trailer combination and in so doing exerts a stabilising effect.
