Call Servicing Guide QuickWash
Consumer states the handle screw will not attach
Solution 1: Place your free hand on the front of the unit to apply pressure and push down on the handle firmly to get it in place, while at the same time turning the screw on the back with a screwdriver. **NOTE: It does require a bit of force. Will the handle screw attach now?
No Release the Detent Lever to lay unit flat on the ground. Turn unit over so it is face down.

Yes, problem solved

Insert screw into screw hole using a Phillips Head screw driver, applying downward pressure on the screwdriver to insert the screw. Does the handle attach now? Yes, problem solved No, refer customer to an Authorized Service Centre
Consumer states unit will not spray
Solution 1: Because the unit is gravity fed, the solution tank must be full in order for the unit to spray. Has the solution tank been refilled?
Yes, proceed to solution 2
No, Empty dirty water collection tank and replace back into machine
Using the Formula Measuring Cap add two caps full (approximately 85ml) of Bissell solution to the white clean water tank.
Add approximately 1.9L of hot (not boiling) tap water. **Fill only to fill line. Does unit stray now?
No, proceed to solution 2
Solution 2: This machine can get a small air lock in it which can cause the unit not to spray
This air lock is easy to remove

Switch the machine off

There may be a slight air-lock in the machine. You will need to remove the air lock.
Turn the machine of at the power switch and at the plug in the wall. Hold the solution dispensing trigger (located on the handle) in for 30sec-1min and then release the trigger and switch the machine on
Now when you press the trigger as you move backwards over the floor using the machine, the solution should now spray freely, does it spray now?
No, proceed to solution 3
Solution 3: Make sure the handle screw is in correctly.
The head of the screw should stick out a inch from the outside of the raised screw hole. **Older units (units made prior to date code J01111) were made without the raised screw hole. If this is the case, the screw should not be protruding past the back surface of the unit. Is the handle screwed in correctly?
Yes, proceed to solution 4
No, detach and reassemble handle
Slide handle assembly (with quick release cord wrap) down into lower body until it will go no further. **NOTE: It does require a lot of force to get it in correctly
Secure by placing one Phillips head screw (supplied) into back of handle assembly. Tighten with Phillips head screw driver until secure
Turn unit on, does unit spray now?
No, proceed to solution 4
Solution 4: Does the trigger have tension?
Yes, proceed to solution 5
No, remove handle, is it damaged?
No, Ensure handle is assembled correctly.
Yes, advise customer to call Bissell Free Call 1800 number again and press Option 4 for spare parts and order replacement handle

Lay the unit on the floor, face down with the screw hole facing the ceiling
Put pressure on the screw to get it to fully thread into the unit. For units without the raised screw hole, the screw needs to be aligned perfectly straight and then tightened into the unit. Does the unit spray now? No, proceed to solution 5 Yes, problem solved
Solution 5: On the black cap insert on the solution tank push up on the black valve (marked with an X) with your index finger. Does water come through?
Remove the solution tank from the machine
No, advise customer to call Bissell Free Call 1800 number again and press Option 4 for spare parts and order a replacement dirty water (collection) tank
Remove the black plastic cap insert from the bottom of the solution tank
When replacing the black insert cap back into the solution tank ensure the open end of the black curved tube on the insert is pointing toward the center, front of the solution tank. A keyed insert on the cap and tank should guide the tube for proper placement. **NOTE: Units made prior to date code J01032 did not have this keyed insert. The consumer will need to manually align the tube into the tank. Is the water now coming through the cap insert when the X valve is pressed?
Soak cap insert in warm water for 30 minutes. After soaking replace cap. Is water now coming through the cap insert when the X valve is pressed in?

Proceed to solution 6

Solution 6: Remove the solution tank from the machine Check the tiny hole marked vent hole (at the top, on the back of the solution tank), holding the solution tank upright with the black cap insert at the bottom. Is the water level in the solution tank below the hole?
No, tip out solution, making sure it is only filled to full on the fill line. Does the unit spray now?
Is the hole free of any clogs or debris?
No, refer customer to an Authorized Service centre
No, clean out the hole with a paper clip. Does unit spray now?
Check holes on blue spray bar on the base of the unit next to the brush head
Clean out the holes on the spray bar with a paper clip. Does the unit spray now?
No, refer consumer to an Authorized Service Center

How to change (remove and fit) brush/bare floor attachment
Solution 1: **NOTE: The brush (broom like attachment is for use on carpets) The attachment with the foam and squeegee is for use on bare floors (The squeegee must face towards the front) Press detent lever so that machine is laying flat on the ground
Release grey rectangle shaped latches on each side (left & right) of the blue dirty water collection tank by pulling them in an up and then down motion
Remove the blue dirty water collection
There are two grey pieces of plastic where the brush sits sticking up through 2 holes. Push these pieces of plastic towards each other with your thumbs and down so that the brush drops down, out from the base of the bottom of the unit
Now simply place the other attachment on the machine by aligning the grey plastic tabs into the holes and pushing up to click the attachment in place
Consumer states no suction
Solution 1: Empty collection tank, refill solution tank
Remove the dirty water collection tank
Remove any debris in the red rectangular rubber gasket at the motor intake ** NOTE: Gasket may be black on older models.
Before replacing dirty water collection tank turn the unit on. At the Motor intake feel for suction. Is there suction?
No, Refer consumer to an Authorized Service Center
Solution 2: Remove any debris from the black foam filter in the dirty water collection tank
Is the dirty water collection tank damaged?
No, remove dirty water tank and re-install, making sure to follow installation instructions carefully. Turn on unit. Does unit suck up water now? Yes, problem solved
Yes, advise customer to call Bissell Free Call 1800 number again and press Option 4 for spare parts and order a replacement dirty water (collection) tank
Straighten a paper clip and clean out the tiny holes on the spray bar with the tip of the paper clip to remove debris. Is there suction now?
No, refer consumer to an Authorized Service Centre
The unit is not sucking while using bare floor tool
Solution 1: Remove floor nozzle attachment
Push tabs on floor tool outwards using your thumbs, remove debris using a soft cloth. Does bare floor tool look damaged?
Yes, advise customer to call Bissell Free Call 1800 number again and press Option 4 for spare parts and proceed to order replacement floor tool
Solution 2: Attach bare floor tool to unit, ensuring the bare floor tool is not on backwards (black rubber squeegee should face the front). Is there suctions now? ** NOTE: Consumer should see water going through to the blue collection tank

Consumer states no power

Solution 1: Try the unit in another outlet that you know is functioning (Has a functioning appliance in it already). Is the cord plugged into a functioning power outlet?
No, plug unit into a functioning power outlet
Yes, refer customer to an Authorized Service centre

Consumer states the unit is leaking at the spray bar
Solution 1: Remove the handle on the unit and reinstall it.
How? Slide handle assembly down into the lower body of the unit until it will go no further
Place Phillips head screw into rear of handle assembly making sure the screw for the handle is aligned properly and going straight into the back of the unit. Use screwdriver to tighten. Is the unit still leaking?

No, problem solved

Yes, refer customer to an Authorized Service Centre
Consumer states unit is very noisy Solution 1:
This is quite normal as the unit requires a lot of power to get deep down and extract all the deeply embedded dirt out of your carpet. However, it has passed all Australian Electrical Appliance Safety standards including noise level tests. Also the designers have tried to keep the unit as compact and light weight as possible and in doing so they have put less insulation in the body of the unit around the motor, to make the unit smaller which has lead to the unit being quite noisy. May suggest ear plugs
