A Brief Introduction to Some Special Features Introduction
English Thank you for purchasing the Bose Wave radio , an elegant way to bring high quality sound into any room. Over fourteen years of research by Bose Corporation brings you the benefits of award-winning patented acoustic waveguide speaker technology. Using this technology, a tube efficiently transfers energy from a small speaker to the outside air over a wide range of low frequencies. And, long waveguides, folded into intricate patterns, fit into products small enough to be placed comfortably in your home. Your Wave radio features new dual tapered waveguide speaker technology, connecting two speakers to two 26" tapered waveguides which combine to produce unprecedented instrument timbre from a system this size.

We recommend that you place the dock to the right of your Bose Wave music system so the iPod has minimal effect on FM or AM reception.

Control of your iPod and Bose system
We recommend replacing the remote that came with your Wave music system with this new remote (shown below). Then you can use the new remote exclusively (not the buttons on your Wave system), to keep your iPod and system performing together as intended.
Note: The remote that came with your Wave system can also be used to control the iPod kit. Use the AUX button on the original remote instead of the iPod button on the new remote.

Most of the remote control buttons are described in the owners guide that came with your Bose system. The remote buttons below provide added features. Important note: The Sleep button and three Alarm buttons on the remote control affect system sound sources only. They do not control the iPod and cannot be set for use with that source.
FM/AM Selects the FM or AM source. Turns off iPod. CD Selects the Wave music system CD source. Turns off iPod.
On/Off Turns off iPod. iPod Selects iPod as the source. Switches between AUX input jacks on the Multi-CD Changer. See the Multi-CD Changer guide for more information. Play/Pause Pauses or resumes iPod play.
Seek/Track Single press skips one track. Press and hold scans quickly through a track. Tune/Playlist Moves from one playlist to the next.
*The response to some remote commands depends on which source (FM/AM/CD/iPod/AUX) is playing. If the remote does not work as you expect, press the button for that source to reset the intended mode of operation.

Docking your iPod

Insert your iPod firmly into the dock and make sure it is securely seated in the dock adapter. Your iPod turns on in a paused state and begins charging, as needed. Even if the paused iPod turns off automatically, it continues to charge. If you prefer, you can replace this dock adapter with the adapter specifically designed for and provided with your iPod. Use a fingernail or a slender tool carefully to pry the adapter free, as shown.

Playing your iPod

Be sure to aim the remote so its signals reach the IR sensor on the front of the dock. Then use these buttons as follows: Press iPod to turn on your system and begin iPod playback. Press Play/Pause to pause or resume iPod play. Press Tune/Playlist to move from one playlist to another. Press Play to hear that list play. Press Seek/Track once to skip back or ahead one track. Press and hold Seek/Track to scan through a track. Press Volume to adjust the sound volume. Your Wave system is designed to work with an iPod set at full volume. Volume adjustments can be made using the new remote, instead of using the iPod control.
Note: Volume changes using the iPod controls will not affect the Wave system volume.
Press On/Off once to turn off both products, aiming the remote at the dock until the iPod turns off. Press any source button (FM/AM or CD) to turn off the iPod and listen to that source. Important note: Having your iPod turned off helps prevent interference when you switch to an FM or AM station.

Troubleshooting

Problem The remote does not control the iPod. What to do Press iPod to reset the mode of operation for the iPod. You may then need to press Play/Pause to resume play. The iPod is on when it should not be. If the system is off or you are playing another source, press iPod. Then press On/Off or another source button (FM/AM or CD). With the remote aimed properly, your iPod should turn off within 2 seconds. The volume varies when the iPod plays different songs. Use the new remote Volume to set the volume to the level you prefer for a particular song. The recording quality of songs varies, producing inconsistent play volumes. Be sure the audio cable from the dock is connected to INPUT AUX 1 on the changer. Press iPod and check to see that AUX 1 appears on the Bose system display. You may then need to press Play/Pause.

The iPod is connected to the Multi-CD Changer and it is on but does not play.
The Bose system speakers play even when headphones are plugged into the docked iPod.
Connect the headphones to the mini jack on the Wave system. This silences the system so the sound plays through the headphones only.
If your iPod has four buttons above the touch wheel, it is not compatible with this Wave connect kit.

Battery replacement

To replace the remote control battery, use a Duracell, Eveready, Energizer, Maxell, Toshiba, or Shun Wo CR2032 or DL2032, 3-volt lithium battery. Be sure to match the + polarity on the battery to the + symbol inside the battery tray. Refer to your Bose system owners guide for further information.
